The town of Dobbiaco is great if you're planning on...
The town of Dobbiaco is great if you're planning on exploring the Dolomites. It may not be as central as Cortina d'Ampezzo, but it's a heck of a lot cheaper. Lot's of beautiful locations are still within about a 40 minute drive. Which is what we did. We didn't explore Dobbiaco itself that much. Only went there for eating out or groceries, usually at the end of the day after a long day of hiking.
The outside parts of the town feels rural, but the center has a lovely old church and reminds you this place has been around for quite some time. Rural or not, it still has plenty of places to eat out or shop for groceries.
One pub was quite nice and had two tables full of local farmers who got together, laughing and sipping wine, probably after a hard day's of work. As a tourist, I'd say there was a lovely relaxed, quiet vibe around town.

Dobbiaco village is nothing special and very touristic but with amazing surrounding. Perfect location for bike rides. If you are looking for a good local beer go to a small beergarten in Villabassa (few km from Dobbiaco).
I recommend a walk to Monte Piazza, amazing view ... .
Rent a bike and wherever you ride (there are countless cycles paths) you'll find wonderful landscapes.

The owners and staff are very friendly !!
It’s a great vacation with family or Romantic
Great location for the hikers as most of the attractions are nearby. Rooms are spacious, rustic, with a lot of character. Well maintained, staff was super nice and accommodating, and we also tried the restaurant downstairs, where they serve delicious food at reasonable prices ( also they do take away pizza).
We also enjoyed very much the sauna and swimming pool, especially after a long day of hiking.
The lovable ladies who work there , the hotel how it’s clean , cosy with beautiful decor and views! The breakfast was so tasty , with lots of choices and natural products from Dobbiaco! I’ve loved all the details about this location, the staff were ao helpful and so welcoming, and the food was also delicious. The room is a 5 stars with a breathtaking view and balcony
This family hotel was exceptional. The staff were incredibly hospitable, nothing was too much of a both. The food was superb. The pool, sauna, steam room, relaxation room and gym were lovely. The location is a short walk from the town centre, but buses run regularly, and the walk is very easy. I would highly recommend. Thank you for a wonderful weeks stay.
We had a very nice stay at Hotel Heidi! Our room was big and comfy and from our terrace we had the most amazing view on the mountains. The staff was friendly and helpful. There is a bus stop right next to the hotel which we found very useful when traveling without a car. Good starting point for visiting Tre Cime, Monte Specie and Lago di Braies.
I've be coming back to this hotel multiple times, as service and facilities are absolutely fantastic. Price wise is definitely worth the money.
Breakfast is fantastic.
Super friendly host.
I got a single room and it was super comfy with a breathtaking view from the little balcony.
Simply an amazing stay.
Nice hotel near the train station. We arrived late and started trekking in the Dolomites the next day, so the hotel was conveniently located. Room was small but clean and well maintained. Host offered to keep our bags for the duration of the trek (5 days) which was very helpful.
All in all, good value, very professional and friendly staff, extensive selection of spirits and wine to meet a discerning taste, food in hotel restaurant was outstanding - kudos to their chef on presentation and quality/taste!
The design of the room. The views. The sweetness of the front desk. The lovely breakfast and the view from there. But the room was for me the best mountain hotel room I have ever been to. And i have travelled alot.
Well-managed hotel located close to the center of Dobbiaco. My room had a beautiful view. The breakfast was excellent. The owner personally manages the hotel and is very helpful.
