This is essentially a review of Fonte Cerreto, as the hotel I stayed in is not in Assergi. Fonte Cerreto is very small, and is really just the base for exploring the Gran Sasso in the summer. It is probably also a good base for exploring the ski area in the winter. I ate in the hotel, but I think the trattoria a few hundred yards down the road would have provided better food.

You must understand what is around you .
You must understand what is around you . Upon arrival it isn’t clear . You need a car to move around . I suggest to bring some food along . The closet supermarket is 8 km away because the earthquake has destroyed the center . There are only two restaurants in the town . If you accept eating in the cozy kitchen you have no problems . The environment is quiet, only few people live in Assergi. As the streets are very narrow, there are no cars around, but the parking place is available in the square close to the church with a steep and quite narrow access road.
