Aosta is a nice change for a more cost-effective ski trip.
Aosta is a nice change for a more cost-effective ski trip. It's a working town with more industrial parts on the outskirts and a prettier old-town in the centre.
We really enjoy the skiing in Pila - a good mix of tree lined, interesting runs and more open runs for a smaller resort. Lots of Italians skiing as well as tourists. Also the opportunity to ski in Courmayeur and Cervinia for the day as part of some ski passes.
Some good restaurants in town and the suburbs and a very large supermarket, so great for self-catering.
Pleasant and picturesque drive from Milan airport too.

From the main motorway Aosta would be easy to drive past.
From the main motorway Aosta would be easy to drive past. But take the time to visit and you will be pleasantly surprised of what it has to offer. Loved the city and its history. The surrounding countryside is beautiful and many hidden gems to discover.

An interesting ancient town named after the emperor Augustus...
An interesting ancient town named after the emperor Augustus Caesar. Many fine restaurants. Charming streets and lots of shops. Many remnants of Ancient Rome around the city, like the Roman wall, Teatro Romano and Praetorian Gate. A few stone towers from medieval times too. Everywhere you go you look up and you can see the Alps. Take the time to get outside of town and go to the skyway cable car. Take it to the top of Monte Bianco. Amazing! Quite a few different amazing towns just outside of Aosta also. The region has a hybrid flair of French and Italian mixed culture.

Aosta has a lot of Roman history.
Aosta has a lot of Roman history. It has not really got going yet for non Italian tourists which is a shame, but on the other hand is great as its not too crowded. For 8 €uros you can get a multi ticket to vist 4 historical sites which are very interesting and well preserved in places.
It is also a bustling town in the centre with paved streets with lots of quality cafes & restaurants which are reasonably priced. Quite a lot of cafes and the museum don't have English translations so you might need Google translator, but most of the staff have at least some English.
The centre is only 10 minutes walk from the train & bus station. There is a backdrop around the town of snow topped mountains even in June. We will definitely come again.
We spent an enjoyable and relaxing weekend here. Our stay was very comfortable and the food, both breakfast and dinner, made using quality local ingredients, was excellent. The hostesses were exemplary (and helpfully spoke good English). The hotel is in a tiny village a few kilometres up the hill above the fascinating Roman city of Aosta. Our room was sizeable, well decorated and spotless and had beautiful views over the Aosta Valley and the Italian Alps.
What an unexpected pleasure! The hotel is located not far from a busy road on the outskirts of Aosta but double glazing and air conditioning stopped this from a being a problem. The whole place has been very well done with a great breakfast in a patio in the sunshine with a very helpful manager who carried our bags to our room. There are a number of samll chalets in the grounds and whole place is obviously set up for winter sports.
Our favorite hotel on our tour around Europe. The scenery is amazing and the rooms are clean and newly remodeled. The staff is so friendly and made us feel like family. We had the best meal of our trip in their fabulous restaurant. We had their four course tasting meal, which was plenty of food and the price is so affordable. A nice breakfast in the morning, We will definitely come back to this hotel on our next journey.
Very unique property, located in an isolated area, a long walk away from Aosta. And up a steep hillside. But a one of a kind place with all sorts of extras space, decorated with tons of old farm and field pieces. The outdoor pool has to be the largest in the entire Aosta Valley. And the breakfast was awesome. Truly unique.
This property was very quiet and clean. The staff were helpful and friendly. The restaurant below which is not run by the hotel was not fancy but served excellent food. Very friendly waitress. This hotel is an exceptional value. Also, located in a beautiful area. Would recommend and stay again. Excellent included breakfast.
lovely property in Aosta! plenty of available parking. a very short drive to the main town area. the rooms were nicely appointed. it was clear that thought went into the amenities. plenty of towels in different sizes, beverages, extra toilet paper, mini fridge, extra pillows. it was very thoughtful and convenient.
The staff is very friendly and supportive. The location of the hotel is perfect, to go to the center of Aosta, it is 2 km. We enjoyed the spa with jacuzzi, ham and sauna after the hike. The restaurant wasn't open yet, but will be soon.
Spacious room with that might be required for a comfortable family stay. A conveniently located - just walking distance from the many great restaurants of Aosta. And just some 5 mins drive from the Pila ski lift. A private parking!
The chalet is very nice, interiors as well. Rooms are perfect, there are balconies with Aosta or Pila views. Restaurant is good, it’s quite popular among all the tourists, not just hotel clients. Breakfast was also good.
A rather quirky hotel access by an alley just a few metres fom the main shopping street of Aosta. Comfortable and quiet with a friendly receptionist. I don't think breakfast or dinner were available when I was there
- fast Check-In
- lovely family owned hotel in a renovated farmhouse
- free private parking
- excellent breakfast
- great location to explore Aosta Valley
- just a few rooms with autentic ambiente
Angelica and her mom were very helpful. Apartment has great location with beautiful panoramic view of Aosta area. Short drive from Courmaieur,, Cogme and Breuil Chervina. Will stay again
The apartment was modern, well provisioned and close to the centre of Aosta, within its Roman ruins and restaurants. It was a short walk to the gondola to take you to Pila
Fantastic location in Aosta. Our host Alberto was wonderful and very attentive. Easy check in and parking was right at the property with easy access. Super clean.
Good host. Helpful. Easy to find and secure parking. 2 minutes drive from Aosta telecabine to Pila. Under 5 minute walk to ancient Town centre. Very clean.
