Aosta is a nice change for a more cost-effective ski trip.
Aosta is a nice change for a more cost-effective ski trip. It's a working town with more industrial parts on the outskirts and a prettier old-town in the centre.
We really enjoy the skiing in Pila - a good mix of tree lined, interesting runs and more open runs for a smaller resort. Lots of Italians skiing as well as tourists. Also the opportunity to ski in Courmayeur and Cervinia for the day as part of some ski passes.
Some good restaurants in town and the suburbs and a very large supermarket, so great for self-catering.
Pleasant and picturesque drive from Milan airport too.

From the main motorway Aosta would be easy to drive past.
From the main motorway Aosta would be easy to drive past. But take the time to visit and you will be pleasantly surprised of what it has to offer. Loved the city and its history. The surrounding countryside is beautiful and many hidden gems to discover.

An interesting ancient town named after the emperor Augustus...
An interesting ancient town named after the emperor Augustus Caesar. Many fine restaurants. Charming streets and lots of shops. Many remnants of Ancient Rome around the city, like the Roman wall, Teatro Romano and Praetorian Gate. A few stone towers from medieval times too. Everywhere you go you look up and you can see the Alps. Take the time to get outside of town and go to the skyway cable car. Take it to the top of Monte Bianco. Amazing! Quite a few different amazing towns just outside of Aosta also. The region has a hybrid flair of French and Italian mixed culture.

Aosta has a lot of Roman history.
Aosta has a lot of Roman history. It has not really got going yet for non Italian tourists which is a shame, but on the other hand is great as its not too crowded. For 8 €uros you can get a multi ticket to vist 4 historical sites which are very interesting and well preserved in places.
It is also a bustling town in the centre with paved streets with lots of quality cafes & restaurants which are reasonably priced. Quite a lot of cafes and the museum don't have English translations so you might need Google translator, but most of the staff have at least some English.
The centre is only 10 minutes walk from the train & bus station. There is a backdrop around the town of snow topped mountains even in June. We will definitely come again.
We stay at this hotel every time we visit or pass through Aosta (see my previous reviews). The location is fantastic right in the heart of the historic city and with private parking.
The room is big enough, and the view of the Alps from the window is breathtaking.
The room is very clean and the bed comfortable.
The breakfast is excellent with a variety of cheese, cold cuts, dairy products and of course the sweet part.
Coffee, tea and juice complete the breakfast.
And the price is very reasonable.
Wonderful stay being a value for money. Calm wooden houses, though being located just a few dozens meters away from a highway. The staff is very helpful, the equipment is just as it should be. Breakfast is also quite nice.
I could recommend as a base point to visit Aosta, at least in the summer (as I have no winter experience in this place). I would also highly recommend a restaurant located just at the hotel proposing delicious local dishes.
Wanna have a real Valdostana experience like you were in your Aosta home? That's the right place.
Warm welcome and impeccable organization. Beautiful, spotless and fascinating rooms.
We had a really pleasant check-in according to our preference with owners who not only welcome us but also offer fresh fruits and dessert as a compliment kit.
All restaurants and places they suggested were absolutely places to be in Aosta!
Location was close and within walkable distance to "old" Aosta although the walk back to residence involved a somwhat steep climb which wouldn't be for everybody. Its a modern residence and the 2 bedrooms and living area were roomy and clean with good beds and bathroom. The wood pellet stove was a nice touch. Parking was on site and behind a locked gate. Being up a ways on the hillside the views were good.
The room exceeded our expectations. The location is exactly in the center, 6 minutes walk from Aosta bus station. The room was very clean and had all the essential amenities (Shampoo, hairdryer...). Breakfast was very delicious and abundant. Elena was very helpful and friendly. The experience was very positive and flexible.
large rooms with plenty of light, tastefully decorated with unusual photographs of Aosta.
Generous welcome package of cookies and coffee capsules - thoughtfully providing decaf as well as caffeinated,
huge 'fridge. Secure parking and friendly hosts. King size bed - but rather firm top.
This hotel is located in the oldest chalet of Aosta, so the owner told us. It was the most charming hotel with all different types of rooms, all very charming and comfortable. The owner and his wife were the best hosts ever. Friendly, helpful, serving a fresh and delicious breakfast.
quad room is very spacious and clean, bathroom is big and clean.
inside pool is a very good addition to this hotel, especially in winter time.
location is very good, just few minutes drive to the city center/supermarket/fast food/pharmacy ect.
free onsite parking.
The hotel is awesome. It is run by a family who is extremely friendly and polite. The restaurant in the hotel serves great local food, again prepared amazingly well. We will sure be back here for another vacation in the future!
The location was prime, right in the middle of the Centro Storico. The apartment was clean, attractive, comfortable, and with stunning views of the mountains and of one of Aosta's old medieval streets from the balcony.
- fast Check-In
- lovely family owned hotel in a renovated farmhouse
- free private parking
- excellent breakfast

Great communication with hosts (living in the same building).
Located conveniently for travelling around Aosta, in a quiet area.
Stylish appartment, equipped with all that's needed,
Very polite staff
The hotel is decorated with best north italian taste, without any show-off and still design savvy
The location in the middle of Aostas old town is just perfect
