We had come for invasive heart surgery for my husband at Medland hospital. We were extremely impressed with the standards of the surgeon and after care. We booked a BnB in Lusaka as our family live out on farms. It was lovely, safe, quiet, clean, wel staffed. I would recommend it to any traveller. On the whole, having travelled to Zambia to see our family in the past ten years we were impressed with how much improved the city is. The roads are so much better and easier to cope with traffic volumes. EXCEPT for roads leading out of Lusaka ie the Great North Road is dreadful once you get past the double lanes. Delighted to see hardly any litter. Well done Lusaka. You are looking fabulous.

It's an interesting city with some old and new neighborhoods, good night life, an overcrowded market and bus station and a few historic buildings. A bit dirty in some streets and the market. A few beautiful churches and tall buildings. The cultural village and the museum are ok. Never walked outside in the evenings. I was advised to take a taxi, but daytime I felt zero danger. Public transport in the city is not clear for travelers, so either walk or take a Yango. You can take buses to go to other destinations like Livingstone, Luangwa or Mfuwe from the main bus station and fly into other regional and international cities from the airport.
Not a major tourist destination, but good for a few days as a central city in Zambia.

Lusaka is an interesting city.
Lusaka is an interesting city. It has most of the basic stuff that anyone would desire. It's a slow city though. Albeit literally speaking (Lusaka traffic will humble you😅) and economically.
Most establishments close by 8 pm. Except bars and liquor stores. Lusaka's night life is only dependent on alcohol and club life. If you are looking for a romantic night out, Lusaka is not for you. At least for now.😂
The city is generally safe. However, it's good to be on the look out as petty thefts just like anywhere else are common.
It's averagely clean with more dirt-roads. The road network has lots of room for improvement. The people are generally kind but language challenges will be your first hit. Even though English is prevalently spoken, people will first address you in Nyanja or Bemba.
The days here are usually super slow too. Banks open at 9 am and most close by 3 pm. If you are looking for food in Lusaka in the early mornings, you may not be very lucky as most places only open at 10 am.
If you are looking for Zambian cuisines, always ask to be taken to a "Matebeto". You will never be disappointed.
It's generally easy to get around Lusaka. However, the mini-buses(public transport buses) are not well labelled. If you don't know exactly where you are going, it's better to use Yango(a taxi-hailing app). There's no Uber here. But if you already have Bolt app, you should be fine.
Great activities you can do is hiking on the outskirts of Lusaka, game rides, museum visits, and especially a visit to the Village in the middle of the city if you like shopping for African memorabilia. Most people here however, prefer hanging out in malls. The most diverse malls are East Park mall, and Manda Hill Mall.

I liked the continental break fast , other food stuffs are too expensive.
I never hard dinner or lunch only breakfast and a beer though the bar is not properly set up. The bar should be separated from the Bar music is the ingredient of the bar and the bar should close a bit later than the restaurant.
this is my observation of the centre lodge that must be improved.

Nice city with laid back people, who are often willing to help.
It is not crowded and one can easily walk in the city without any danger of an accident!
Nshimo (maize flour meal) and chicken stew was my favorite meal!
East Park Mall beams with life... oh, Gran Daddy's is a rocker I am told though I did not stay long enough to see it fill up (happens in the evenings)

Beautiful city in Zambia with lovely friendly people.
Beautiful city in Zambia with lovely friendly people. They have lovely shopping malls as well as a cheap market in the kamwala district. Kabwata cultural centre in Lusaka sells some of their traditional clothes and souvenirs. There are also National Parks where you can go on safari and see various animals, the 'Big 5'. Definitely worth a visit.
Though staying in a chain hotel like Best Western can sometimes feel impersonal, the excellent staff at BW+Lusaka really made our stays there special. From the uber competent and welcoming manager to all his reception staff, cleaning and door staff, pool staff, everyone had a friendly smile and word of greeting, and they all remembered us when we returned for a couple of days on our way home. The hotel is very comfortable but it was the staff who made it feel like a home from home. Many thanks!
Wild Dogs is a wonderful little oasis in Lusaka. While a bit more on the outskirts of town, the main parts of Lusaka were easily accessible by taxi. The grounds are quiet, beautiful and well-maintained - and the pool in particular is a nice to spend some relaxing hours around. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating, making us feel right at home. The food - both the breakfast that's included as well as the other meals - are delicious!
Probably the best price / value opportunity for travellers starting and ending in Lusaka. Easily accessible by Great East Rd from / to the airport and to go shopping before your journey take the East Park, just 15 min. away. Fantastic hosts. The lodge has a great cook, thank you Enia! We had some of the best dinners and breakfasts during our 3,5 week and 3.500 km Zambia tour.
Excellent hotel in a central, safe part of Lusaka. Great area to walk around in, including to nearby restaurants and cafes (though on-site facilities are also really good. Staff were extremely professional and courteous - including the housekeeping staff. Rooms - especially on the ground floor - are spacious and comfortable. I'll be back.
Breakfast was very good. The internet connection was relatively reliable (unfortunately rare in the hotels I've stayed at in East Africa. The staff was friendly and helpful, on matters ranging from arranging transportation, changing money, and sparing a mask when I realized I would need it in some places around town.
This is THE best hotel in Lusaka, and it's always my number 1 option when I'm in Lusaka. I consider it my second home. The breakfast is very very varied, with very many choices. All of the staff take great care to ensure that my stay takes place in the best possible conditions. Lots of little touches
Well-sized room for a solo traveller. Very comfortable bed. The blackout curtains are a nice touch too if you are not planning to get up early. I was on the 10th floor so enjoyed great views of the Lusaka city centre. Hotel is above a mall with a Pick n Pay supermarket.
The hotel is located smack in the middle of town with shops and restaurants nearby. The room was exceptionally clean and the bed was super comfortable. The buffet breakfast was rich and tasty and I will most certainly stay here if I visit Lusaka in the future.
The staff was polite and very attentive to the guest experience - with Zambian charm. Very helpful professionally. The food was excellently prepared and changed occasionally to my delight. It is value for money in this part of the city. Security was good too.
The rooms were exceptional. My children loved the place . They said that it gave a very good image of Zambia. They actually want to come again . The place was quiet and secure . The staff were respectful and kept the rooms clean.
I LOVEEEEDDDDD the spa, this was hand down the best part of my stay at the hotel! So good that even when staying in other parts of Zambia, I returned, and made 3 trips to this spa before flying home! I was very impressed!
