Fly to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, then take a direct train to Delft (60km, 40 minutes). Alternatively, from within Netherlands, use the extensive train network. For a scenic route, consider canal or river cruises.
The most convenient airport for Delft is Rotterdam The Hague Airport, due to its proximity and direct transport links. It's approximately 15 kilometres away, making it a quick and easy journey for both domestic and international travellers.
Delft, Netherlands, offers a variety of public transport options. The city's tram and bus services, operated by HTM, provide extensive coverage. Delft's central train station connects to major Dutch cities. Cycling is popular, with numerous bike rental shops available. Walking is feasible due to Delft's compact size. Driving is less recommended due to limited parking.
The historic city centre of Delft is the best area to stay, offering a blend of charming architecture, museums, and restaurants. It's also conveniently close to the main train station, providing easy access to other Dutch cities.
Beautiful Like a Porcelain Doll
Delft is a picturesque Dutch city with canals and historic buildings, situated between Rotterdam and The Hague. Birthplace of the famous Dutch painter Johannes Vermeer, this destination is also home to the iconic Delft blue porcelain and the University of Technology.
Like a phoenix from the ashes, the 17th century Town Hall of Delft was destroyed on 1618 and rebuilt by the architect Hendrick de Keyser. Located across from the City Hall in the centre of the Market square, the Protestant church of Nieuwe Kerk (New Church) with the imposing tower is connected with the Dutch Royal Family.
Resting place for Piet Hein, Maarten Tromp and Johannes Vermeer, the Oude Kerk (Old Church) was built in 1240 and is one of the main landmarks of the city along with the Prinsenhof. Booking.com offers a variety of apartments and hotels in the centre of Delft.
The Delftware factories with the blue ceramics and the hand-painted porcelain are definitely something that travellers should not miss while visiting the Netherlands. Weather permitting, you can enjoy a local beer on a canal terrace.
Amsterdam Schiphol Airport is about 40 minutes away by car or public transport. Delft railway station has train connections to Amsterdam, Utrecht and Leiden.

Delft is very picturesque and beautiful.
Delft is very picturesque and beautiful.
I like everything about this small town, the atmosphere, the shops, the cafes, the restaurants, the nature, including here the ducks on the canals. :-) There is also a good choice to travel by bike in the town, as most of the people do here.

Beautiful quiet little town midway between two major cities.
Beautiful quiet little town midway between two major cities. Consider staying here if your trip includes time in The Hague or Rotterdam: it's only a 15 minute train ride to either city and much less hectic (and less expensive). Highlight of our trip was climbing the windmill and seeing it actually operated - for free!

The town is so unique, churches to visit and beautiful squares surrounded by restaurants and cafes. Lovely places for brunch in the mornings and for beer in the evenings. The atmosphere in the evenings is wonderful. It is easy to get around on foot. the view from the New Church roof top is spectacular, tho the 300+ steps are not easy. Recommended eateries are Kek coffee and Delfts Brouwhuis

Delft is a nice size, easily walkable for the main part.
Delft is a nice size, easily walkable for the main part. Train station to the centre is 15-20 minutes maximum. Plenty of hotels, good restaurants of all cuisines, Dutch, Indonesian were ones we tried, but there are French, European, smaller snack-type bistros too. We spent just a couple days in Delft, but the Vermeer Centre and Museum Prinsenhof were well worthwhile, spent most of a day in each. We could have spent longer in Delft.

Central or old Delft is well worth a visit.
Central or old Delft is well worth a visit. It’s on a human scale. The two big churches are beautiful, the working windmill is charming and the Vermeer Centrum is interesting. We particularly enjoyed how peaceful the town is, with great crested grebes, coots and other waterfowl swimming in its serene canals. Cyclists outnumber motorists and the town has a youthful atmosphere owing to the university. Shops and restaurants offer very good products, food and service at reasonable prices. Above all, the people are very helpful and friendly.

Delft is a lovely place and I hope to take my wife next time as the food, bars and atmosphere in the centre was lovely.
The many bars and places to eat will suit most people and they are all (well the ones I tried) were reasonably priced. I will certainly go back again - and hopefully not involving a business trip.
We stayed here for a very decent price. The room was modern and had some tea/coffee making facilities which is always great. We could park the car in the nearby parking garage, which is a short walk away (but you have to walk outside so will be affected by the weather).
The hotel is not far from the city centre so one can walk there (you have to cross at least one busy road).
The wifi worked well enough on our phones.
It would have been nice to stay longer in Delft so hopefully we can come again!
The hotel was an easy 10 minute walk from the station. The area around the hotel felt very safe, as did all of Delft. Both rooms and communal areas were spotlessly clean and very tastefully decorated with a Vermeer / Royal Delft theme. The breakfast was excellent and had something for everyone. The staff were really friendly and helpful. It was also great that there was a very good restaurant next door (Spijshuis de Dis), as we were quite tired after an early start on the day we arrived.
Amazing, very unique, charming fairly new boutique hotel. Super comfortable beds, great shower. Beautiful rooms with views of the canal (we booked a superior room), but also great views from breakfast room/bar. Interior design is just perfect. Hope to come back to this hotel! If you come by car, make sure you book a parking spot (definitely worth the extra charge). All main sites of Delft and the train station are within easy walking distance., but you are in a nice, quiet area.
Despite the small size room was furnished decently, decorated nicely and had small luxury elements such as light dimmer and heated floor in bathroom - it's details like that give a regular hotel room a cozy homely feeling. The garden and the lounge room downstairs with a variety of free hot beverages and treats were also delightful. The hotel is located short walk away from city center and train station, yet surrounded by quiet peaceful atmosphere
Excellent location, with 2 of Delft's top-rated restaurants next door and all the city's tourist attractions within walking distance. The staff is helpful and knowledgeable. An art movie cinema is situated opposite the hotel. The tram station (Prinsenhof) is a 10 minute walk from the hotel and goes to The Hague Centre and Scheveningen beach. Breakfast is included and the hotel organizes transport if necessary, at a fee.
Very centrally located. We walked easily to numerous restaurants, the Delft porcelain factory, and to the train station for day trips to the Hague and Rotterdam.
Breakfast was excellent with a wide variety of items on the buffet and the availability of cooked items at no extra charge. The staff were very helpful with directions and with restaurant reservations.
The room was spacious and very clean.
It is one of those funky made on the cheap hotels, (no fancy stuff that just increases your cost with no real value to you) - that gives you all you need! Comfortable beds, nice walk-in shower, very clean, dead quiet in the night, 2 min to train station and about 10 min walk to the square in the center of Delft. I will be booking the same for my next visit to the city
We stayed over for my sister's wedding as they first met in Delft and this was the hotel where they first stayed together. The whole family stayed the night before the wedding and the staff could not have been more attentive on the day of. They decorated the newlywed room beautifully and we are all very grateful for making their and our stay so special!!
Small hotel close to city centre and university campus in area with private houses and almost no traffic. They rented also out good quality dutch city bikes with hub gear and excellent dynamo lights. I rented one (€16.50/24h) - perfect for Delft as street lights are scarce and bike made everything 10 minutes or less away.
This is a very good location with easy access to everything in Delft and surrounding area. There is plenty for children to do and walking trails to explore. The lodge was clean, the area was quiet, friendly staff. I'm all set to stay thrre again.
Family run hotel, in the centre of town. Very friendly personnel. Very good breakfast. Room, beds, bathroom: good. Our room looked out over the street Oude Delft (which is the oldest street of Delft) and the canal.
We passed Delft for just 1 night. So we need a place that with parking and next to the highway. Campanile hotel meets our need. It offers free parking is a bonus. A little far from center if you visit the city.
We had a nice room, very comfortable and quiet. It was clean, good bathroom and bed. The hotel is located ideally for a visit to Delft in walking distance of many of the historic places and the restaurants
Lovely room with a very comfortable bed. Location was excellent. Easy walk to train station and all the sights. Many nice restaurants near. Staff were lovely. Delft is quite pretty and easy to walk.
location is great: in the centre of Delft. Breakfast was buffet style: many choices.
parking was available at a parking garage, 10 minutes walking distance (20 euro's a day)
