As you admire crystal-clear turquoise seas from a Taormina piazza swathed in vibrant pink blossom, you could be forgiven for thinking that you were in paradise. The stunning location of this picturesque town is its crowning glory.
However, it’s not its only glory. Surrounded by trees just below the main town, the Greek Theatre is also a triumph. Its largely intact seating offers wonderful views across the stage towards Mount Etna fuming away in the distance. Spine-tingling summer performances are still held here, and several of the town’s bars also offer live music.
Corso Umberto I runs through the heart of Taormina, from Piazza Corvaja to the 13th-century cathedral, and houses many shops and cafés. Midway along is Piazza IX Aprile, whose clock tower and church are overlooked by a rocky hill topped with a castle.
A cable car runs from the town down to the beautiful Taormina beaches (where the train station is also found). At the centre of the W-shaped bay is little Isola Bella, an island nature reserve. To the south-west is the long stretch of sand at Giardini-Naxos, and north is the bay by Mazzaró.
As you would expect of Sicily’s most beautiful resort, there is no shortage of Taormina accommodation on Booking.com, including 5-star hotels on the beach, town centre apartments and luxury B&Bs.

Taormina is a 'must see' destination and has so much to offer. We visited Savoca nearby whilst staying in Taormina which was a real treat. We also had an excellent dinner one night in Giardini Naxos and were serenaded by a folk group who made the night magical. We will definitely be returning.

A marvellous location and unique natural beauty have earned this city the nickname of Pearl of the Ionian Sea. The distinctive city of Taormina in eastern Sicily is perched on a rock above sea level, with awe-inspiring views over Mount Etna and the coastline.
Like many other tourism hotspots, you have to plan carefully to avoid tourist traps and not get stuck in huge crowds.

Loved the location, lots to explore on foot with the Corso Umberto for shopping and eating, the Greek Theatre and the Botanical gardens for a quiet place to reflect and enjoy the views, and a play area for the children.
The cable car is worth using to access the beaches which again are well serviced with food, drink and toilet facilities.

I need to explain first how Toarmina is divided to make my entire review super clear.
Taormina has three levels let’s say. First the beach, second the center in the middle of a mountain where everything happens and third the top of the hill: the castello di Mola.
Villa Glicine is located exactly on the mid level, 5 minutes away walk from the center so it is a prime location specially that most of Taormina mid and high levels are not flat.
And that is the only thing i liked about the hotel.
Perfect hotel, comfortable. Friendly people, excellent location. If you want ro take a bus to go to the upper part of the town - it is about 10-15 min . If you want to substitute your daily sport club at home - use steps (690) :). There is a good restaurant on the beach nearby, and it is a it is good exercise also ; 175 syeps down, and the same to get back on the road ;). Our room was nice, breakfast tasty , time there was very pleasant!
The hotel was amazing. The views from the rooftop terrace are incredible, which was amazing during breakfast each day. The room was comfortable and clean, very nice. The location is fantastic too, right in the centre of Taormina but just far enough away from the crowds. The beach club was also great, only 20 minutes on the shuttle bus to get there and it was fantastic. I'd definitely stay here again, and would highly recommend.
Great location in a quiet street overlooking the gulf of Taormina, but not far from the centre of the city. Restaurants and shops easily reachable.
The sea view from the room I booked is breathtaking. I lived sitting on the balcony and watch the sunrise, the sunset and everything in between. Even the bathroom has a window with sea view! The hotel ans the rooms are kept clean. The staff is friendly and helpful.
Beautiful is a cosy, sparkling clean Beautiful studio:), located perfectly next to two beaches- Isola Bella and a beach, where top rated hotels are located (i.e. Villa Sant'Andrea). We had a great stay in Marcello's studio- the communication with him was perfect! Highly recommend!
Perfect location, 1 minute from the cable car station, 5 minutes from the bus station. 1 minute to the centre of Taormina where are all shops, cafes and everything. The roof in the top of the hotel has an excellent view of Taormina and the sea. The people from the hotel very friendly and helpful
