The room's overhead light fixtures were missing, ceiling imperfections. No wash cloths, hand towel, soap, drinking cups upon arrival. The tub jets did not work. Bed was too soft for my tastes.

The price and location were attractive for my purposes. Large bed. Good television.

The floor was uneven. There was a step up from the hall to the room. All the ceiling lights (bathroom & bedroom) did not work. The room needed dusting.

Nice location. Helpful staff. The bed was comfortable. Room was small, but fine for one person.

When we first arrived it took 40 minutes to get checked in. Nobody was anywhere to be found. There was a note at the desk with a number to call but nobody answered for 40 minutes. We even left and tried another hotel but had no availability. Finally someone answered when we returned and told us the key was on the counter. We went to the room, upon exit the elevator, there was a box of garbage sitting there. Getting in the room, the room itself was ok. The bathroom, had no towels at all, no soap even. Above the shower there was black mold and the paint was hanging down. Oh I forgot to mention, the whole lobby is a ghost town. The bar and restaurant are closed but that was mentioned when I booked I believe. It's pretty sad actually because this place has a lot of potential, just needs the right owner and love. I really wish I could buy it because it is for sale. I think I covered it all.

The bed was comfortable. I liked that the jacuzzi wasn't old but it was really only for one person.

I liked the location. It is in the center of town. The hotel was quiet. I think I was the one guest there that night. There was no food service. The bar was closed.

The linens were not the most comfortable. It would be nice to see them updated and changed out.

I liked the overall design and character of the older building. It has a lot of character that you can’t find in a modern hotel.

Smells terrible. I got a smoke free room, but it definitely had been smoked in. Walls dirty, doors dirty.Sheets were clean but stained and pillow case had cigarette hole in it. FLoor leading to room is carpet, good thing because it hides the broken pieces underneath...walk carefully! The price was right for a week long stay, though. And l really didn't hear other guests, pretty quiet.

Room was small, but fine for one person. No towels or toilet paper in the room. The floor in the hallway was uneven. There was a 2 to 3 inch step from the hall to the staircase area, no "watch your step" sign or something like that.

Nice location. Helpful staff. The bed was comfortable. Liked the staircase leading up to the room. Would have liked to go out on the balcony, but it did look like it was open and there were no signs.

It was like a ghost town. Nobody tends the front desk. You hafta call them. Hotel is in a state of disrepair. My daughter's toilet seat was badly cracked, we were told she couldn't use her jacuzzi tub because it leaks, our shower door literally fell off. You get what you pay for I suppose.

    The bed was very comfortable.

It was absolutely filthy. Everything had a layer of dust over it. The carpeting was stinky and probably older than me. The towels all had holes and looked more like old washer rags. Rooms had no overhead light fixture. The shower had someone else's hair on the walls. These people don't even try to make this place worth the price they charge you. I live in Pittsburgh, but I'm from this area originally and I could get a decent hotel room where I live now that is actually CLEAN for what I paid for this dump. We left after one night because of the filthy condition of the room and bathroom. The guy who runs the desk, was supposed to give me a refund for the second night and he offered to do both nights which I didn't even expect, but he has never answered Booking.com in the last two months they tried to reach him. He also hasn't answered when I call directly. Don't stay here. I paid for a night I didn't even stay. Place is disgusting. Fabulouso and a bucket of hot water would go a long way and wouldn't cost that much! Please use my money that you kept to invest in cleaning supplies and clean the hotel!

Location is nice and the hotel itself has loads of potential unfortunately whoever is running doesn't give a hoot and it's apparent.

The rooms have def seen some age that could be cleaned up/repaired a little better. There's a lot of chipped paint, it's clear the housekeeping is not quite as thorough as it could be, and one of our blind valances literally detached from the ceiling in a hailstorm of paint chips and rotten wood lol - we had to tack up the top sheet to cover that window for the night as it was late and neither we (nor we assumed the owner) wanted to deal with switching/fixing at 1am. Again, for the price - you're getting what you pay for and I will say the jacuzzi tub was def cleaned and it stayed hot and bubbly haha. If you're a major germaphobe or very anxious about cleanliness, this may not be the place for you. If you've got a little adventure in you and don't mind just maybe running an extra "sterilize" laundry load when you get home, it's just fine.

I called before booking to inquire about early check in, and what I'm guessing is the sole proprietor (he was the person who always answered the phone, always greeted us, we didn't speak to or meet anyone else working there) was always really nice, helpful, straightforward and kind. The location is awesome, the history of the hotel is cool, the town is a tiny little gem (hit the Deitrich theater, so fun) so it's a great cheap location if you want to visit nearby stuff like Jim Thorpe or other regions of the mountains. At time of booking, the King Suite room with a jacuzzi was $107 plus tax - the cons of the room (below) are honestly pretty consistent with that price point.

due to the low occupancy they don’t have Someone at the reception 24x7 which is perfectly fine and once calling the number at the reception, someone was there within a couple of minutes. the biggest issue was the fact that once we were in our room, my girlfriend used the bathroom but couldn’t get out anymore. For some reason the whole handle was useless from both sides. I don’t even want to imagine what would have happened if we both would have been in the bathroom without our cellphones. especially since the windows could not be opened and we were on the second floor anyway. after once again calling the reception phone number the owner/front desk clerk arrived within a couple of minutes. he also once again tried it himself and went to get some tools. he tried around with the tools and was even considering to break the entire door. since nothing helped he „called a guy“ and told us he’d be back in a couple of minutes. this triggered us to give it a try ourselves and so my girlfriend basically unscrewed the handle from the inside and we managed to get her out of there. after calling the person again he told me to leave the tools in front of the door, that he would get them later and that he would get someone to fix it the next day. the tools were still in front of the door the next day and the door had not been fixed by the time we left.

very good location right in the center of Tunkhannock free parking behind the hotel free „upgrade“ which was appreciated

The pillows were my only real complaint...they were really hard and uncomfortable. Maybe just bring your own pillow. The lighting was fine, but I'm used to lamps everywhere in hotels.. It was just a ceiling light. and the bathroom lights.

The man who checked me in was really nice. He explained to me that I booked a small room, and offered me the option to upgrade for a small fee. He actually let me see my room, and look at a bigger one also. I was only staying a night and not spending much time in the room, so I kept the little room. I will say, it was small, like a small bedroom with a bathroom... if I was going to be in the room more i probably would have upgraded to the king room. But it had a microwave, fridge and flat-screen tv. It was quiet, and not busy. Good water pressure, water got nice and hot too. It's in a fantastic location in Tunkhannock, right across from the Dietrich theater.
