Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyYou have to be aware that it's a very small apartment and you live very close together. Also it's 5 sets of stairs.
The location is just amazing. The bunk bed was very comfortable. Chris was friendly and nice to love with, even in such a tight space. Everything was very clean.

AustriaSure, the bathroom is uncomfortable and many places are fixed rather than repaired, the room has light while the whole apartment is dark and musty because no window is ever open. But the owner ... In short: he didn't want me to be there (although I had booked for 14 days). He made me feel it from the 2nd day until the end. He spent his time criticizing my actions and thoses of people before me. It makes you feel like you can easily "do it wrong". I didn't expect to pass a test! To get from the room to the kitchen or the Wc, you have to go through his room. And he is there all the time - except for 2 hours early in the morning. We even almost had a conflict because of the noise, when clearly you are going to disturb him all the time, since his room is in your way. For me, the situation itself was designed to put me in a position to disturb him. For a week he didn't talk to me, not even "hello". I left very early in the morning and came back late at night to avoid reprimands. I had chosen to live in a New Yorker's house on purpose to get to know the culture and not be just a consumer tourist. What a mistake! The worst, and I'm really not happy about this, is that he comes in the room when I'm not there, to put his mug back and take mine away. It sounds incredible, but several times, a mug that I had bought was put away in the kitchen, and instead, he put his own mug. I don't think he realizes how shocking it is when a stranger comes in and moves your stuff without your consent. If cancellation and refund had been available, I would have paid more to go somewhere else. You will feel like you are being controlled all the time. I should have read the comments better. I'm really sorry he took out his frustrations on me. Plus, I don't think he does it on purpose, and that's kind of sad. He constantly has a stranger in his house, and I don't think he sees that it's weighing on him.
First, I am Johanna's partner, she was not with me. I liked the neighborhood, close to Union square, between university and popular culture. The room itself has a comfortable bed, drawers for my things, a table and a desk. You can open the windows (only in your room) and although you can hear the street, the brightness and the lite view on the roofs make it pleasant. You could use the kitchen, but good luck, because then you will have an inspection report (see part below).

United StatesThe room is really small, the bed is not comfortable, the heat in the room is unsane (also if there is a fan which you can use all night but is noisy) we didn't have a nice night, too hot!!!! New York in August is super humid!!! You need AC mandatory! The bathroom is super small, not practical It s on the 5th floor no lift and there are a lot of steps', also for a young healthy person. The owner lives next to your bedroom, so as a woman with my daughter wasn't comfortable, beside you share the small bathroom. Absolutely disappointed!
The location of the building, also if it is one of the few sketchy building, weird people leave there.

United Statesproperly is really bad, I don’t like a small room with old things around, nor really clean abs messy. it’s all full of owner staff and the owner is really strange. I did brake a small plastic container at the kitchen and he make up so big deal of it. We replace it with a new container but he don’t like it abs ask us to pay him 20$ for it. The owner is always home, all the windows in a aprt looked so it’s really feels to small and not nice dark inside.
The location is good and easy to get around but can be really loud at night so we can’t sleep.
