How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

I’m trying to think, but I honestly can’t imagine any way I would change the guest house. I would love to see it in the summer, or at Christmas. November probably wasn’t the most perfect time to go? But honestly if you have to travel in early November, stay here.
I liked every single thing about my stay. Photos really don’t do the guest house justice- the quality of the sheets, the choice of the art, even the updated architecture of the building- everything is absolutely exquisite. And Elizabeth is so kind and welcoming, you can really relax and actually enjoy the space.

Bed was a bit soft.
Lovely suite on the top floor with beautiful Moroccan art and furnishings. Nice host who is an expert on Moroccan art and architecture.

I liked everything. One thing to note, though, is that it’s a half mile walk to the T, which means you might need to shell out a lot on rideshares if trying to get to Cambridge.
Thoughtfully decorated, quirky and in a good with lots of space.

Elizabeth was so nice & helpful. I loved the location and how close I was to the Freedom Trail. The room was beautiful and so comfortable to stay in. I would recommend to anyone & everyone!

This was my favorite room during my trip last week. The king suite was spacious. I loved the unique decor, the old wood beams, and the lighting that together set a very relaxing vibe. The owner was on site and friendly. The suite had a well supplied kitchen should one wish to cook. The bathroom was lovely, very clean, and the shower was roomy. The bed and bedding was very comfortable. The neighborhood was great, a quiet reprieve from my jaunts downtown. Overall I found Charlestown to be really walkable, so many options food and shopping nearby. This is a perfect place to stay for someone who wants a charming place to stay that's just a leisurely walk or short ride away from the more bustling neighborhoods.

Squeaky floor in bedroom on 2nd floor but hey what can you expect when house is from 1790"s
Loved old world charm and Elizabeth was such a caring and gracious host. She even gave us her half bottle of wine when we got in after stores were closed.

Our stay was fabulous and Elizabeth was so welcoming and kind. We loved the neighborhood and walkability of the city. All the little touches in the room were so nice. The bed was very comfortable. We loved having tea on the balcony. We would love to return!

The house is very old. So it’s understandable that the settling of a house over two hundred years old had slanted floors in the kitchen!
The kitchen was equipped well including milk coffee, sweetness, and Honey Nut Cheerios. I did mention it would be appreciated to have plain Cheerios too. Loved the decor, suggestions for restaurants and other resources. Elizabeth couldn’t be more accommodating. She’s a great hostess. We arrived around midnight as our plane was delayed and she was there greeting us.

We loved our 10 stay. The location, was perfect for our needs. the breakfast that was included was bountiful and Elizabeth was fantastic. We definitely will stay here again.

Beautiful historic home near Community College T stop. Great location for walking around Charlestown and North End. Quiet neighborhood. Lovely hostess. Highly recommend.

Decor, antiques, space, bidet and balcony were lovely. Elizabeth and her staff welcomed us and were very attentive in every way possible, from giving us a variety of breakfast choices to offering suggestions on what to do. Public transit is close. Neighborhood was safe at night.
