I would have liked a room with a balcony. I had requested for this. I ended up in a room inside, and although I was offered a room with a balcony the next day I was too busy and exhausted to move. The room I had was ok, and I was ultimately comfortable in it.

The staff were very welcoming and attentive. I arrived at 3am and was allowed to settle in with no admin. I sent a message ahead for a hair dryer and this was readily available in my room. Really appreciated that!

Good hotel, although the garden highlighted on Booking has been swallowed up by construction works

    - During our 4-night stay, we were surrounded by construction works. At the front of the hotel, the installation of the Christmas decorations caused quite a mess for over 2 days and resulted in the complete disappearance of the garden, which had first aroused our interest on Booking (sadly...). Work was also in progress at the back of the hotel throughout our stay, to the extent that a wooden screen was installed in front of our bedroom window, leading us to spend 4 days in darkness and in noise. - The rooms are poorly soundproofed, and night and day, we suffered a little from the noise caused by drunken and indelicate guests, and by the early morning chatter and ringing mobile phones of the hotel cleaners. As I was looking for some peace and quiet before going back to work in a very difficult context, this wasn't great... - At breakfast, we would have liked to be able to occasionally eat a croissant or sautéed mushrooms and tomatoes, as a change from toast, eggs and bacon.

    - Our room and bathroom were large, comfortable and well equipped. Both were very clean. We had access to a small fridge, a hot shower with excellent flow, a large TV, two wardrobes, bedside lamps, and lockable trunks to store our valuables. - Most of the waiters at the hotel restaurant (= Mediterraneo) were very smiley and helpful. The breakfast included was very copious and quite good, although always a bit the same and not very veggie-oriented. The two dinners we had in the hotel restaurant were excellent. I recommend the pizzas, caprese salads, papardelle and tiramisu! - The hotel was very well located, a 10-15 minute walk from Acacia Mall, its cinema, and several very good restaurants and cafés.

While some of the bar, front office and restaurant staff are polite and friendly, others were quite stand-offish and rude. The Indian front office lady who booked me into my room, for example, suddenly walked off and left me standing outside the room while the cleaning lady got my key - I had no idea if I could enter the room or not. The bar staff in the bar section of the restaurant are neither friendly nor helpful. If you send messages via booking.com to the front office, it's 50:50 whether you get a professional reply or not

Pretty room and terrace, good shower, plenty of bottled water and hot drink facilities provided. The cleaning staff was friendly and attentive, and made sure some problems in the room were quickly fixed.

The location was fantastic. The people even better. With Pardis, Serena, and DiVinci restaurants with in a 2 mile radius you have the best dining in Kampala. This little paradise is tucked away minutes from Embassy row and Interpol headquarters where the best views and scenery of the capital are captured.

The restaurant is great for us but visitors to it make so much noise. - not sure how this can be fixed. Maybe by making walls a lot more noise buffering?

The green, the food choices, the ambience, in the room etc were really great!

Breakfast could be more imaginative, with more options - which would be in keeping with the 'boutique feel' of Villa Kololo.

Breakfast is fine - bread, fruit, eggs, coffee, tea, juice etc. We really appreciated being allocated a room with a small balcony/terrace as it made the stay very relaxing. Lovely beds, bed linen, furniture with bathroom well appointed and good range of toiletries. Kettle with tea and coffee in the room a really nice touch. Helpful staff. Good parking.

Staff whilst friendly were a little unattentive, and service was sometimes a little slow, but we were so relaxed, we didn't mind. Breakfast options were limited. Would have been nice to have some local Ugandan cuisine on the menu. Being in the centre of it all, it can be quite noisy at night.

We arrived very early in the morning, and the staff kindly allowed us into our room early at no extra charge. Staff were very friendly, and the owner checked in on us regularly. Very comfortable accommodation, 4 poster bed, and all modern facilities. Great selection of Mediterranean food and a well-appointed bar. We were surrounded by beautiful gardens, a great place to relax and unwind. It was a little oasis in a bustling city. Highly recommend.
