Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

LithuaniaOf course, the price could be lower, but it's not, so I don't remember anything bad.
The historical house, which is included in the city sightseeing route, is really interesting. The staff is friendly. Great breakfast on the roof. It is safe, there is a watchman on duty in the evenings and at night, who lets guests in and out. It is possible to buy Tanzanian coffee, and it is a good opportunity to do so in the city, because in the remote villages there are no beans or ground coffee, except instant coffee. It is very good that there is an opportunity to refill drinking water. There was warm water and electricity all the time.

CanadaNot that I didn’t like it - just a note the espresso room has a separate private bathroom a few steps down the hall. If this is a huge problem for you it may be worth inquiring further into your room.
The staff were so friendly and helpful. Their joy was infectious and created a wonderful vibe throughout the place. The rooms themselves were beautifully decorated with small thoughtful touches. The room had A/C and was comfortable at night. It can be a bit loud as people pass in the alleys, but that’ll occur no matter where you stay because everything is so close together. The breakfast was delicious and had a good variety of options. It was nice guests could use the rooftop even after cafe hours as it’s cooler up there. I particularly enjoyed the ability to fill up water easily before heading out too. They also booked my taxi and tour - both were great!

KenyaSteep stairs going into the bathroom and a slippery/smooth concrete floor is definitely a hazard, especially for older people. Could you please provide rubber-soled slippers/flip flops for in-door use? I stayed in cappuccino.
Attentive staff, Richard was an amazing host. The ambience was great and the aroma of coffeee was magical. Thank you for having me.

United StatesIt was challenging when we first arrived because it was raining hard and the streets were flooded. You have to walk a few blocks to get to the hotel and transporting our luggage in the flooded and dirty streets was not ideal.
All of the staff were friendly, especially the woman who served breakfast. The coffee and juice were delicious and I enjoyed the homemade granola and yogurt. The weather was exceptionally hot and humid when I was there, but the ceiling fans and A/C worked well. The rooftop was very nice and the temperature seemed cooler there because you could feel a good breeze.

My partner is also still raving about the breakfast!! Best place to stay if you have any dietary requirements as well. There are so many vegan options on the cafe menu and soya milk for coffee as well. Thank you so much for everything team

AustraliaNothing at all. I’ll be back! Sone other guests felt it was too far away from the tourist traps of the Main Street and waterfront - it is 10 minute walk - but I loved that!
Absolutely everything! Stunning spacious room with comfy bed, hot water, a safe, air con, fans, lovely extras in the bathroom eg coffee soap and loofahs, good towels, big bottles of water each day, turn down service - amazing coffee of course, generous breakfast, stunning rooftop fir guests only before 10 and after about 3.., very kind staff

United StatesI didn’t like the fact that our bathroom was outside of our room, but it was still clean and the bathroom was private to us and close by. It was only inconvenient for nighttime bathroom runs and having to shower before the coffee house got too busy to avoid running into other guests or coffee house customers.
The best parts of this place are the people and the coffee! They were so warm and welcoming, and so very helpful. It was a comfortable place to stay and central to all that Stone Town has to offer. We loved the charm and character of this Coffee House and the rooftop terrace was a favorite as well.
