Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FranceA lot of noise, so take your earplugs with You! But that’s mainly the city itself that is noisy.

SloveniaWell if ac worked all the time it would be better bit such things happen and the wilingness of the staff to help made it all up filor us.
Location is great for exploring Stone town. After a power cut (these happen often on Zanzimar) the ac didn't start and the owner made sure it was repaired by our arrival from a tour next afternoon. The breakfasts were the best we had anyvhere on the island. Besides (always available) fresh fruit there was a different local dish prepared for us every day.

United Kingdom-Beds were cheap spring mattresses. -Only one fan which was wall mounted so I couldn't adjust its angle. This wasn't enough to keep me comfortably cool at night. Another fan, or air conditioning would have been better. -No mosquito nets. There's quite a few mosquitos in Stone Town. -It was my fault for not fully reading the room's description, but my room had a shared bathroom and toilet. One of the options is called "Double or Twin Room with Shared Bathroom" so I incorrectly assumed that "Deluxe Double or Twin Room with Balcony" did have a private bathroom.
-Very stylish and recently rennovated hotel. -Excellent location in the centre of Stone Town. -Good breakfast. -Spacious room -Fairly quiet -Good staff

BelgiumWe booked a room with private bathroom. We ended up with a room with shared bathroom, but had to pay the full price. They were not willing to change the price to a room with shared bathroom. We arranged (and had it confirmed by tarawanda) an airport pickup, but nobody came. So on arrival we had to find our way from the airport to the hotel ourselves.
Nice rooms, very kind staff, good location close to everything, good breakfast.

United KingdomIt didn't spoil our stay but could be easily remedied - No facilities (hooks or hangers) to hang clothes in the room, only shelves, no rubbish bin in the bathroom (I used a decorative basket and put a plastic bag in it). Exposed wiring to Aircon switch may alarm some. We just made sure, once we got it in the correct position and working, that we didn't touch it!
Excellent location in old historic Stonetown , helpful staff, clean, big room and bathroom, historic building and good value for money in a city/big town. Central courtyard table for breakfast meant we got to meet and chat to people from all over Europe. Hotel staff Happily accepted us with a warm welcome from a flight landing at 1am.

Kenya1. It was difficult to find the location as there no signs/labels. The door is also closed and quiet so one can’t tell if the premises is operational or not. 2. Breakfast could be better in terms of variety or quantity. 2. If you leave the premise someone inside has to open the door for you. Might take some time if the attendants are not close by. 3. There was no soap in the bathroom only shampoo.
Absolutely magnificent. 1. The biggest plus was the AC. It’s hot & humid in Zanzibar. Surviving without an AC is difficult. 2. The place is very secure. 3. Room is spacious in my opinion, the mattress comfy and the beddings and towel clean. 4. The toilets though shared, were cleaner than the shared ones I have experienced 5. The decor inside marvelous. The designer thought well and hard about it. They have paintings, pictures etc.

Location, atmosphere and interior were great, welcome and also the fantastic night-staff (Simon the Massai) wer really nice. Breakfast was served without the option to choose, but is was good with a sweet and savory mix. the beds were nice, but for me too hard and the shower needs some decalcification. but all in all it was really nice. and the location to explore stonetown super good.

NorwayThe breakfast was not so good. I dont usually eat samosa and fried rice cakes for breakfast. It would have been nicer with som fruit, omelet, eggs, bread. They had juice, but only after I asked, should maybe be offerd when they ask if we wanted tea or coffe.
Everyone working there where very nice and friendly. It was clean, amd they made an extra effort putting some kidfriendly toys for my son and we got the crib we asked for.
