the room itself quite small tio my expectations. also the hot water was a problem and the lack of style of the TV and air conditioning. No toiletries as advertised together with WI-Fi connection problems was annoying. and most of the staff lacked customer service skills especially the front desk they were so disinterested.

The breakfast and the dinning area at the rooftop was quite nice though quite noisy from the crowded staff.

The breakfast was not worthy that money, it was very, very poor and far away from continental breakfast. The chairs around pool was all broken.

Hotel is situated in the rush old center, we liked it. The hotel offers money exchange for better price than in the airport or the bank. The top restaurant is beautifull and the prices are much better than in other restaurants in the city. The room was ok for that price, working aircon, nice bathroom, clean. The staff very friendly. Free wifi. The pool is small, but nice.

I was very upset with the room allocated to me. It was very small. The w.c. smelt of gutter. I spent a night where I had to bear the dirty smell of the w.c.

The location of the property was very central. In the middle of stone Town.

My room had a door to another room. The door was locked of course, but we still heard the discussion from there too well and even some cigarette smoke came to our room even though the hotel is smoke free. We were offered a possibility to change the room when we complained about the situation.

The restaurant at the top floor: The food may not be anything spectacular, but the place is very cosy.

We loved the location. Surrounded in alleyways filled with interesting markets. Great housekeeping.. Very Clean ..Nice little coffee bar with cakes.. Open sided Restaurant/Bar on top floor with pleasant outlook.. Breakfast was a buffet style with good selection and chef right on hand cooking your prefered style of eggs.

If you are looking for a quiet location, being in the middle of Stone Town might not be for you.

The Spice Palace Hotel has an unbeatable location, in the middle of the island's vibrant culture. From the moment I arrived, the staff ensured I had everything I needed and always with a smile. For someone travelling on their own, it provides a safe space where local attractions are within an easy walk. A special thanks to Chris for always being available to arrange taxis whenever I needed.

1. My toilet was leaking 2. The rooms smelt mouldy as soon as you entered. The smell went away in my room but remained in my colleagues room. Some walls had mould 3. My door handle was faulty and it didn't feel safe that the battery in the door handle had to be tampered with to work. 4. It also didn't feel safe that room keys for my colleagues could work with my door handle and vice versa. 5. The breakfast wasn't very nice. 6. The view from outside wasn't very nice and the outside corridors of the hotel were very messy.

1. The rooms were comfortable, clean and plenty of hot water from the shower. 2. Staff were very friendly and helpful. 3. The lighting in my room was bright unlike other rooms that used warm lighting.

Nearly everything was excellent, but two minor inconveniences included the room-keys which frequently didn't work and the new wifi password system which is quite awkward

The receptionists and all the staff are always friendly and helpful, the location is within the charming old Stonetown, and rooms are comfortable.
