How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The location is perfect. Close to the fish market and some local stores. The staff treated us very well. We felt like at home. The rooms were decent size and had air conditioning plus a fan. We had a roo mwith a shared bathroom area outside of the rooms, but the bathrooms were always clean. The breakfast was good and although they have only 3 options they all have everything you need for a complete meal. Overall, the experience there was great!

the room was very small, basically filled with the bed, you can barely walk next to the bed we had only shared bathroom, but I think there are 1 or 2 rooms with a private bathroom, take care when booking but it was ok for us, we love adventures and it was perfect for exploring Stone Town 2 nights
Very nice small place in the center of Stone Town The staff was so kind and helpful, they even helped us carry our bags to the room The breakfast is so delicious with lots of fresh fruits and juice.

Room is priced in USD and If you wish to pay in Tanzanian Schillings they apply a very poor fixed exchange rate. We ended up paying the 5% credit card surcharge as it worked out cheaper !! AC wasn’t the best and stone town is very hot
Very comfortable accommodation in stone town . A little expensive but everywhere in stone town is ! The breakfast was really excellent with toast , avocado , eggs, beans, juice , pancakes and a fresh fruit platter . 10-15 min walk from the ferry

We had a family room, the overheadbunk was very noisy when someone was lying up there so we did not use the overhead bunk.
We liked this place, very nice staff, good breakfast, clean room and good location

The location was perfect, very close to everything. And it was really quiet, what I didn't expect in Stonetown. The breakfast was delicious. The people were nice and helpful. I could check in early , when I arrived completely exhausted after my flight. The room was spacious and had everything you need.

The room is fine for one person, but for 2 people and several cases it could be a bit tight.
Good value for money and perfect for 1-2 days in the city. Very centrally located in Stone Town, and the staff was very accommodating. I would be happy to return.

A very pleasant hotel, the staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was good with a good variety of foods. It's location near to the harbour and a 2 minute walk int the busy streets of stone town make it ideal.

The fan in our room was very loud and made it hard to sleep. The bathroom could use a shower curtain. Or a squeegee so you can push the water down the drain and away from the toilet that was on a pedestal. It was hard to get everything dry and kind of a hazard with how slippery the floor is.
The hotel is pretty. I enjoyed seeing the kitenge and khanga incorporated in the design. The breakfast was good and made to order.

The constant harassment when you step Out the door by locals trying to sell you anything from tours to drugs it was relentless
Location was excellent close to everything you want to see in stone town. The night market along the water was a great treat
