Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

The hotel is at the heart of Nungwi beach right on the beach. You can enjoy the ocean view while relaxing on the infinity pool. Nice private beach. The cafeteria is set up right on the beach so you enjoy the breeze while eating.

United KingdomThere are no complaints about the property, however as suggestion it can be improve so much .. es: beach towels are really old , bedsheets can be change at least once during a week stay, atrc…
The property is located in front of a beautiful white beach. The hotel is simple , a good value for the price ( it’s definitely not a 4 stars category with super basic clean rooms). U can go barefoot at the main restaurant ( is on the beach area) and food is fresh and with variety Eve day.

Austria- the prices of the drinks were quite high (4 USD for 1 small beer) but closeby there was a small shop with beer and other liquids - the doors of our room (and I guess all the rooms) are built with a lot of options for ants and other insects to enter the room ... therefore we covered them with tape and it helped
+ the build of the whole resort looked very traditional african and therefore was so beautiful + we only had breakfast but that was directly in the sand and it was fabulous + the staff was very friendly and smiling all the time ... they helped with everything + the infinity pool and the view of the sea when arriving was really incredibly cool + the 2 other pools were also very nice and clean + we needed a doctor because of a propable malaria infection who was very helpful + the option to stay longer after checkout and having a shower next to the reception (including towel) added another USP

ItalyEverything is very slow, but this is aligned with Zanzibar mantra "pole-pole". Usually people come here to relax, so it's ok, but there are situations, for example of you have excursions, when you can't wait 1/2 h (after reminders) just for a plate of fruits and some water. Also, we chosed the mini suite, paying extra money, but unless you're beach front, it doesn't make a huge difference with the normal room. Also, the room was completely dark :/
My Blue is the perfect place for relax. The infinity pool over the sea is paradisiac, the restaurant has a wonderful view on the beach (actually it is on the beach), the staff is so kind, the food is good. I read many reviews saying that the breakfast doesn't offer varierty, but this isn't true, there are so many different foods.

SwitzerlandEveryday race for the beach chairs... some people were reserving beds by putting towels at 6 AM!!! And keeping towels all day on the chairs and not even using it! Or some people were tipping pool boys to reserve beach chairs - the best chairs front row facing the ocean were always reserved for the same people - nor fair! For that reason I would think twice before booking again. When booking via booking.com we didn't know most guests booked cheaper all inclusive packages there, we had breakfast only and at times we felt treated little like a second class. Everyone has to wear plastic bracelet, different colour depending on meal plan....
Loved our Little cottage, so cute, spacious and comfy. Beachfront location, can't get any closer to the ocean! Friendly staff and well maintained gardens. Nice big pool and infinity pool facing the ocean.

TurkeyNothing. :) Almost everything was perfect. But maybe a little increase in the options for snack bar will be good.
The facility was in the best location for whole Zanzibar. The tide effect is at minimum at Nungwi which definitely increases the time that you can spend in the water.

United KingdomThe Internet is very good at the beach, but patchy in the rooms. The food was fine, considering how many guests the place has and that the food was served from chafing dishes but I would like it more if it is more local. It served mostly Europaen food with only a few African options which were much tastier. Also, be careful with water and juices as they have addition of ice and we had stomach issues for some time. Always request bottled water. If you want to go to the ocean, you need to cross the public beach and there are many locals there trying to sell things. They are very friendly though and the hotel security is watching in case you need anything. But is gets a bit tiring after some time.
The hotel is located in the most beautiful area of Zanibar, the beach was beautiful and non-tidal. The journey from Zanzibar town takes a bit over 1 hour and only the last 3 kilometers are bumpy and non-bitumen. The hotel is beautiful and has African feel to it. The rooms are spacious and very clean. There is plenty of staff working at the hotel and they are all very friendly and helpful. In the evenings, there is enterntainment: African dances, acrobatics, etc (except for Sundays). The hotel has two swimming pools and a private beach with many umbrellas (no need to wake up early and book it). There are plenty of vegetarian options served.

NetherlandsFirst and foremost, Nungwi is a extremely remote village with very little / nothing to do. Besides that, the access between the main road and the hotel (~ 10 minutes by car) is very bad - full of potholes, which become pools when it rains. Strong tip culture, just anywhere else in Tanzania, is not nice. Two guys thought they deserved a tip just because they took our lugagge to the room - in my opinion, we paid a price fair enough to include that service. Furthermore, the restaurant is quite literally on the beach (floor is beach sand), which is not nice if you go for dinner after your shower. Finally, matress was old with deep holes.
The room (villa loft) is very spacious. The hotel has 3 swimming pools and is next to the beach (security prevents that the beach boys go to the hotel private area, which is very important). In the restaurant, staff is gentle and food variety is good. The gardens inside the hotel are pleasent and well treated.
