Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

France-
The room was exactly as advertised and very clean. It's got all you need: AC, fan, hot water, kettle, sockets by the bed... The outdoor garden & patio space are really lovely, great to sit and chat and eat there! Above all, the owner Stella is so lovely and helpful, she went above & beyond helping me get ready for my ongoing journey. Enjoyed the food as well. In short I recommend Haika Lodge without hesitation!

SwedenThe room we got felt a bit small since we got a larger bed (compared to other rooms we saw and that are shown in the pictures) but it was not an issue since we had a short stay. It also did not have hot water but it was so hot outside that cold water worked ok for us. We were told that there are other rooms with hot water if one prefers that. The shower pressure was not the best but it was ok. Overall the room was good for the price, it was clean and the bed was comfortable.
-The host is very helpful and responsive. She gave us a lot of tips and always asked if everything was good. All the staff at Haika is kind and friendly. They all made our stay comfortable and we felt like at home. -The breakfast was tasty and slightly changed every morning, which was nice. There is also the possibility of ordering dinner. -The room has both AC and fan and they both worked well. The AC cools down the room very fast. -The WiFi worked all the days we were there -The location of the place is not close to the city nor close to the beach, as one can see from the map. It is a quiet area and inside the garden it is so peaceful. There are local shops close-by to get water etc. and it is a short 5 min walk to the busy main road. You can easily get transport to the city/beach and it takes approximately 30 minutes to get there.

RomaniaHaika Home Lodge is the most beautiful and clean place we've stayed at in Tanzania, although for a very short time (just one night), as we were in Dar es Salaam only in transit. The staff was exceptionally friendly and kind. Stella provided us with a lot of helpful information before our arrival, assisting us in finding the most affordable way to reach the property from the airport. She also sent us the menu in advance so we could order dinner. The dinner turned out to be the most delicious food we've tasted in Tanzania (I was sad I couldn't finish everything on my plate, but there was so much 😀). Additionally, the breakfast was delightful and substantial. We are grateful to Stella and her staff for making our short stay very pleasant.

GermanyNothing in particular, I just missed a dustbin in my room, but that’s easy to change 😉
The location is very nice- especially if you transfer from airport to any long distance bus, because you don’t need to go through city center! It’s quiet and clean, staff was super nice and reachable throughout - before and during late night arrival etc. We got nice early breakfast and they helped us with catching taxi to reach our bus.

United KingdomWe can't fault it at all.
Haika Home Lodge is surprisingly quiet, gated for security, clean and comfortable. Our room was on the small side (there are larger ones) but the aircon worked very well and so did the shower in the en-suite wet room. There was a clean, hole-free mosquito net over the bed. It is not far from public transport and, with a guide, we took a tuk tuk from nearby into the centre of Dar es Salaam. The owner is a charming lady, very helpful and flexible; she arranged for us to be met at the airport, and offered delicious evening meals which did have to be pre-ordered but which were excellent value and featured local cuisine. My husband and I spent nights here before and after a short safari to the Nyerere game reserve. When we travel we choose where possible owner managed small hotels like Haika Home Lodge because they usually have more character and are often much better value than the international chains.

United StatesThe hotel is a little out of the way and the area does look a tad sketchy. But once you are there I felt completely safe.
The staff was extremely friendly and did make you feel like you were at someone's home. Me, the staff, and some guests ended up staying for almost two hours after dinner just talking. Dinner was also traditional East African food at a good price. The rooms were comfortable, the AC worked, good water pressure, and great wifi. Everything you could want from a homestay lodge. I had an early morning flight and they had even gave me a to-go bag with breakfast.

AustraliaNothing! It’s @ 30 minutes from downtown and tricky to find for drivers who don’t know the area (so just be sure to take directions to give to a taxi driver in case Bolt isn’t working due to internet issues).
Lovely cool room with aircon, very clean, safe and quiet. Comfy bed, hot shower and a kettle in the room. Very helpful and friendly staff - but not at all intrusive! Great value.

Owned by a lovely Kenyan lady who will help you with anything you need. Delicious breakfast and home cooked dinners served on request. Lovely property with a large garden. Rooms are clean with ensuite bathroom and A/C, beds with mosquito net. Great location for us as we had to catch a bus to Arusha from a nearby bus terminal and fairly close to the airport. FranceEverything was great
What a nice surprise… I was a bit fearing my stay in Dar es salaam as I knew it was an expensive city and hard to find hotels or guesthouses at a decent price, thanks to Stella and her beautiful place, it was such a smooth experience and journey and for me the perfect way to finish a month in Tanzania. The lodge is spacious with nice bedrooms and airconditionning , fantastic food and great location in between bus station , airport and city center. The area is really safe , I can say it as I walked for hours in the neighborhood and everybody was greeting me around. At last but not least, the host Stella is so so welcoming. She helped me last minute with a Uber and I saw how she helped two French girls with sim cards, buses and more . She is truly an exceptional host . It is THE and The only place to go for me now in Dar . Will be back …
