Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SingaporeContinental breakfast very poor. Almost nothing to do in Nuku'halofa. No beaches around the hotel. No bicycles to rent despite what said on the website

New ZealandThe room was advertised and booked as a twin share. Upon arrival we were told that none were available. They ended up putting a single bed in with the king bed. The single bed collapsed within 5 minutes of sleeping on it! It seemed like the lodge was only interested in taking your money. Poor service in terms of providing tourist information.
The breakfast was very basic for a continental, but ok.

Australiashower head in our room was broken at the top, and one of the window coverings wouldn’t close properly to keep the sun out, the food service was a little slow but some days we felt rushed to finish our toast for breakfast. As a traveller If you’re expecting cereal, eggs etc it’s at an additional cost. breakfast includes 5 prices of toast, butter, and a drink only.
Nice clean premises, check in and out was easy. I presume the male manager? He was absolutely amazing and went out of his way to help with car hire from F.I.S.H Car rentals, or anything we had questions about and always has a smile. The room was great, nice large bed Was a nice place to stay, a little away from all the restaurants / food and bars and about a 10-15min walk each way to the nearest shop.

New ZealandWas under the impression the restaurant and happy hour operated 7 days a week however was told they don’t do lunch on the weekdays, restaurant was not open every night, and happy hour was only available 3/6 nights we stayed there. The included continental breakfast was poor with only toast, butter, jam and drink of choice supplied and toast was cold both times. Prices on their website and on menu provided in room are not accurate and we were charged an extra $5-$15 per meal without realising. Could keep going on but overall very expensive for what it is and wouldn’t stay again.
In a quiet location and staff were friendly.

New ZealandIncluding a microwave in the rooms would be nice. Internet is a bit slow at certain times, we are in the islands anyway so it’s understandable. I believe the continental breakfast can be improved, I mean it was just your choice of drink and only 3 pieces of bread
I liked the property in terms of its peace and quite surrounding.

United KingdomThis place is expensive for what it is. I mean, don't get me wrong - what I wrote about the positives definitely hold true but for what it charges I would have expected a bit more. The continental breakfast was bare bones and shabby. Three slices of white bread with butter and jam? This starvation portion of food is worse than what is served at the youth deterntion centre where I volunteered a few years ago. Continental is one thing, but this needs a rethink. To top it off, the hotel gives one water bottle for free at check-in. Total. I mistakenly thought it would be one per night stayed, but no. Just one. Once again, given the amount being charged at place and the positioning of it in the overall hospitality market of Tonga, you would think that providing a water bottle a night isn't exactly going to break the budget. Not doing it and telling me that I was mistaken to think I could get another water bottle for free and instead directing me to the bar where I could buy another one smacks of pettiness and desperately trying to nickel and dime your guests to death. Be more thoughtful.
This is a cute and comfortable hotel located at the oceanside and within easy 15 min walking distance to the centre of Nuku'alofa. The room was clean, spacious and away from the main road so was quiet. The staff let me use a beach towel for free so that was a nice touch for snorkelling given I pack light so don't cart around my own towels. Good a/c in the room to control heat and humidity. As I arrived late one night and left super early one morning, I had a few interactions with the night guard. He was really friendly and nice to chat with. When my prearranged driver to the airport flaked the guard was quick to call me a taxi that arrived in record time so I didn't miss my flight. Definitely a highlight of my stay here.

New Zealand1. Wifi sometimes gets weaker maybe due to the total number of people using it. In the morning, the connection is absolutely fine. 2. Shuttle bus is on additional cost but the shuttle service is good.
1. Continental breakfast is good. Just remember to mention that you need continental breakfast (which is included in your room charge) as the restaurant also offers a menu for the breakfast. 2. Location is good. 3. Air conditioner is super good.
