Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ItalyNo menu at the restaurant, everything explained by voice as some sort of fixed menu but it’s not. Each dish has its own price so I would ask more clarity on that.
We had a very pleasant time in Palais Bayram, splendid palace in the center of the Medina. Sayda at the reception was wonderful and we really appreciated her professionalism and kindness. We had also a wonderful time at the spa.

United StatesNo direct taxi service available to the hotel.
Lovely, very old hotel with interesting rooms due to its' age. Breakfasts were great and staff was very helpful. Since the hotel is in the Medina, we had to walk a couple of blocks to/from a drop off point with our luggage to check in and check out.

AustraliaThe hotel held a celebration / party in the courtyard immediately outside our room until late at night on our 2nd night, which made it difficult for us to sleep.
This restored palace was a beautiful place to stay. The luxuriously appointed rooms had very high ceilings. We were grateful the hotel reception was open 24 hours as we checked in after midnight. We had a nice, (huge!) dinner in the hotel restaurant, which was accompanied by lovely live music.

ItalyNot so easy to reach , better to have a smart taxi driver , like the one I got who called and left us in the nearest square in Rue du Chateau and walked us till the main entrance. Breakfast is fine, more than decent but not a five stars .
A nice place to stay into Tunis Medina ; staff is nice and collaborative . Rooms are cosy and being an old bulding you will appreciate the architecture, the colors and the typical Tunisian decoration.

BelgiumOur room was dark and not easy to ventilate. AC didn't seem to work properly as it was not helping. And the bathroom had a curtain instead of a door. Maybe we should've requested to change the room as our friends who came with us didn't have this issue, but it was only a 2 nights stay. So we didn't bother. We left too early on our last day, but if we stayed long enough to have breakfast, I would prefer to go for breakfast outside of the hotel.
Beautiful common area with traditional tiles on the floor and walls. Feels like you are in a real palace. Very interesting design of rooms. Location on edge of the market was good for exploring the city.

GreecePeople shouting in the corridors and making noise in general. Breakfast was OK but if you arrive after 8am there's a shortage of things.
Great property, a true palace; we got the suite historique and it was like sleeping in a museum. 24 hrs reception, they all speak English (something you don't take for granted in the country) and the amenities and cleanliness were excellent.

Switzerland- the Restaurant. The food was undercooked (steak) even though we did not ask it to be raw. The pasta was below any standard, bland taste, soggy. The tea is standard bag-tea. The prices are reasonable for a high-end restaurant, but they don’t match the food and service. - Few restaurant alternatives around. - The bathrooms had an unpleasant smell in the morning. The water temperature was unstable (swaying between boiling and freezing without touching the knobs) - Not accesibile by car, be prepared for a short walk (2-3min) and be wary if you arrive after dark. - you can order good food via glovo and pick it up from the accesible point for taxis. - because of the bad reviews, we did not try the spa.
- clean rooms, spacious - traditional decor in the open spaces and rooms - easily accessible in the Medina - friendly and helpful staff members (almost all speak english, but french is definitively an advantage)

United KingdomLack of simply to have a kettle and cups in the room. Hotel charge for tea bag tea🤦♀️ where in 5* hotels it should be for free. Do not book taxi with the hotel, it’s 4 times more expensive, better find other ways to get to the hotel. Toiletries are not changed on daily basis. Only 1 hand towel per room. Brick pillows that are not comfortable for everyone. Only 5 local tv channels. Facilities are very limited but hotel is beautiful
Beautiful palace, like a museum. Great location, easy to find on maps. Special THANKS to a chef who made delicious breakfast. Eastern sweets are not that sweet but sooo delicious!
