Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

PolandOn the first day, the staff watched the match very loudly, which made it difficult to communicate at the reception and could even be heard in the room. The cuisine is not very good, probably because they want to satisfy the tastes of Europeans - please, let your guests taste delicious Tunisian dishes, they will be delighted :-)
Large room and bathroom. Comfort and cleanliness! Close to the Amphitheater and museum. Very nice service.

New ZealandPrice on the high side and have had much better value elsewhere in Tunisia. Reception staff need to take some happy juice. Can't get used to how much Tunisians smoke, coming from a country where there is no smoking in public places
Nice place to stay. Close to the Coloseum and Museum. Off street parking. Good bathroom. Excellent buffet breakfast. The lower ranked staff where very nice, even got presented with a fruit juice on arrival

BrazilIn Tunisia everybody smoke inside restaurants, bars and cafés. So the hotel and the room smells smoke even with the door closed because the smell comes from the air circulation system. I used to open the window to air out the room.
Very convenient location close by the Roman Amphitheater, bus station and restaurantes. The room’s view to the amphitheater is breathtaking!

FranceWe could hear the audio from the lobby TVs as well as smell a tiny bit the cigaret smoke from our room at the 2nd floor.
Well located nearby the Amphitheater. Clean, spacious, beautiful inside. Friendly staff. Good breakfast. Nice swimming pool. Confortable rooms.

NetherlandsIn the evening the entire lobby is used as a shisha lounge, this is probably a pro for some people, but for us it is a con. The room has a nice bathtub, but without a stop, so it can only be used as a shower. Breakfast has limited options.
Perfect location to visit the amphitheater, within walking distance and few restaurants on the way. Very nice lobby. Large room with beautiful view on the amphitheater from the second floor.

The rooms are clean and well kept, and we had our own refrigerator and kettle with tea and coffee - a first in Tunisia. The lobby cafe and restaurant served good, basic meals and excellent espresso. A very short walk to the amphitheatre and museum.

AustraliaIf using maps me beware they have the location wrong.- Its right next to station. Only thing wrong was not enough guests to make the place lively and finding staff. -Had to plug Fridge and Aircon in to get working. Kettle was somewhat dangerous from steam
Clean modern hotel very well presented. Great location next to station and 5 mins walk to roman theatre.

United KingdomNow the downsides: The in-room Wifi was the second worst I’ve had in my travels in Tunisia 🇹🇳 (and Wifi is pretty crap everywhere). I had better in the two-star hotel I was in in Tunis the night before. Forget video or photo uploading. Had to use my data. Definitely not a location for remote working. Like others have said the door is hard to open! I was in room 21. Also at night the atrium is LOUD with locals hanging out, and that comes through the door. Smoking is unfortunately allowed in the lobby but the good thing is it’s ventilated well enough I didn’t smell it in my room or hallway until the next AM. I called to complain on the noise and it quieted down by 10/10:30PM.
Definitely not a four-star hotel. More a three-star. Who gives these ratings?! Anyway there are def pluses here: it’s RIGHT off the gare and only a 8-minute walk from the amphitheater and 10 minutes from the mosaic museum. The atrium/ entrance is gaudy in terms of decoration but definitely aims for elegance which I can appreciate. The reception kindly gave me a room with an incredible view of the amphitheater. Some members of reception speak excellent English which was a huge plus. You are kindly given a fruit drink gratis at check-in. The room itself was immaculate, with toiletries in the bath (small ones so not environmentally friendly sadly). Decent hot shower. Also great heating to warm up the room. Bedside charger which is a huge bonus. TV has Arabic and French channels. Also black-out shades on the windows!!! Life-saver. And no 6AM muezzin wake up call!

United KingdomThe breakfast did not meet our expectation. The checkout was somehow rushed with payment in cash and no receipt. But there was no double charge for the room, so all OK at the end.
Our room on the second floor was facing the coliseum. The view was amazing. The hotel is quite new, well equipped and staffed. The room was spacious and clean with all facilities required. Good internet. In the lobby the locals gather for coffee, which is nice - that day we watched together Tunisia play in the world cup, great atmosphere, very friendly. El Jem is worth a visit, not only for the absolutely amazing coliseum (5-10 min walk from the hotel) but also for the ceramic museum (You need to walk a while to reach it but everything is nearby). The hotel is next to the train station which is handy for travellers (although louages are usually faster than trains)

SenegalBooking the suite was an EXCELLENT idea. We had access to a giant private patio where we drank tea and smoked shisha in the evening. In the morning, I had space to do yoga outside AND we had a direct view on the El Jem amphitheater. The view was awesome. the room itself was impeccably clean and the staff were friendly and ready to help. Coffee at the cafe was on point. we didn’t have time to swim in the pool but it seemed nice. we drove but for travelers without wheels, this hotel is located right next to the train station.

United KingdomThe hotel cafe/bar does not serve alcohol. I am not complaining about that and I understand the local customs and ethics. I just want to note it for any Western visitors that come to El Jem and have different expectations, especially if they have been in Tunis or Hammamet beforehand.
Came into El Jem by train, and it was super easy and convenient to find the hotel, next door! The public spaces have an air of luxury and I stayed in the suite, which was large and luxurious, with a great view of the colessuem. Everything was within a few minutes walk and the staff were friendly. Really glad I stayed here.
