Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomI think perhaps there should be sign post within the Medina to direct you to the hotel as it can be difficult to find if you enter through certain entry points.
I had a wonderful stay at the Dar El Jeld, where the room was fantastic and the staff very helpful. The ambiance of the hotel was great and the location was within the medina (which was ideal for me as I could walk to all the tourist sites). It was quite difficult to find but only as I was departing on my last day, did I realise there was a simpler route to the hotel via a back road. The hotel was clean and the breakfast options were plenty. The rooftop view across the surroundings was excellent and quiet, so you can spend a lot of time here in peace. The breakfast area was large, if you include the outside rooftop terrace part. The hotel had all the necessary facilities you would expect (eg. Gym, spa, swimming pool). My room was very spacious and it felt very homely. Each day, dates and chocolates were provided which was a nice touch. The staff were very helpful and provided me advise on airport transport (there is an issue of taxi’s getting into the medina but luckily the taxi company the hotel uses, is able to park very close to the hotel). They were very accommodating in allowing us stay an extra hour before checking out and the security guard at the front always greeted us with a smile like the rest of the staff. Overall, I would definitely recommend this hotel if you want stay within the medina in Tunis as it’s a great point to explore the sites from. I think if you are travelling with young children, you might prefer to base yourself outside the medina, otherwise the hotel is a great place to stay.

AustraliaWould be helpful if more staff spoke English, and it took us a while to get used to parking the rental car in the Kasbah car park. More diverse options for room service would have been appreciated.
This hotel was easily the most luxurious of our month-long stay in Tunisia. Once we stepped through the large decorative door from the Medina, we felt we entered a magical world. From the stunning architecture, to peaceful courtyard garden with birds singing, the spectacular rooftop view of the Medina and Kasbah from the restaurant and outdoor seating, the Hammam / Spa, the endless beautiful art works throughout, to our enormous and beautifully appointed rooms.

Beautiful hotel with amazing and spacious rooms that include all the amenities and products you could ever need. The rooftop has incredible views and a restaurant with reasonably priced food. it is located near the medina and information if provided concerning activities, walking yours and the history of the area. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a touch of luxury and relaxation during their trip in Tunisia.

United KingdomThe traditional Resturant opposite the Hotel also called Dar El Jeld was a disappointment. Service non existent and we were forgotten at our table and every course we had to find someone for service. Food was pretty mediocre. Does not cater for vegetarians. Hardly anyone spoke English. Menu in French so be prepared. Breakfast at hotel is pretty standard fare,
This is a beautiful hotel A labour of love architecturally and design. Nice and friendly staff. The suite was exceptional. The terrace Resturant was great. Every aspect of design was outstanding. The owners must have persevered to achieve this perfection.

United StatesThere is a minibar, but there were no cork screws in the room so you had to trapse around a bit to get them. When you ask someone to bring you a cork screw it may take a while before they get to your room.
These rooms are large, gorgeous, reasonably priced, and there is very good service. This is centrally located in the Medina. Staff were very helpful. It is a luxury property and historic.

This place is new, spacious, gorgeous, beautiful architecture, convenient, great food and wine. Nice staff. Comfortable. Well located. The manager was a bit rude on one occasion — she could have handled a situation better and did not apologize. But we will be going back anyway! Was a great experience overall!

United Arab EmiratesThe only issue we had was that we ran out of toilet paper on our last day. Definitely would expect to have more provided without needing to request it.
The hotel was one of the most beautiful I've stayed at. It's located so close to the centre of the medina but was still so quiet and peaceful. The room itself was extremely spacious with a large and modern bathroom, and the bed was also really comfortable. We really appreciated the daily chocolates, fruits and dates! The staff were all very helpful - they even had someone show us the way at night to the closest shop when we needed to buy some toothpaste. Their advice was useful and made the stay all the more wonderful.

SlovakiaThe hotel is in the heart of the Medina, a big plus for me. My suite was comfortable and extremely spacious, a living area, a wardrobe room, a lovely bedroom and a large bathroom, with bath and separate shower. The reception team and room service were attentive and helpful and made sure I felt at home away from home. And finally, I enjoyed use of the steam room and dined well in the rooftop restaurant. If I should return to Tunis, I wouldn’t want to stay elsewhere.
