Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyThe rooms can be a little bright at night and in the morning so bring an eye cover if you’re sensitive to light!

FranceThis is not the hotel's fault, but the medina is quite empty at night with not too many open restaurants around, which made me a little wary walking home/around. The price was a bit high for my budget because they don't offer a single room rate.
A beautiful, tranquil der with exceptionally friendly hosts. The property is very thoughtfully and tastefully decorated with comfortable common spaces to sit and read or work. I am claustrophobic so requested a room with a window to the outside, and they gave me one (not all hotels care). I appreciated the welcome strawberry juice, comfortable bed ,lovely roof terrace and excellent breakfast of local fresh food. Someone was always available to help with questions, ordering a taxi etc. A great place to stay, especially for solo female travellers.

FranceBathroom was very small and water was leaking as a lot in the shower. I think room is nicely decorated but would benefit from a deep cleaning. We asked for dinner on our last night which we understand is exceptionally offered and they were very kind to arrange it for us. However, it was obviously not cooked at the hotel but bought from outside and microwaved and it was totally cold. Given that we paid 50 TND per person for that cold meal, we regret our decision to have dinner at the hotel and should have eaten out.
It is a truly beautiful hotel, the courtyard is just an artwork, so is the breakfast room. We admired the architecture during our stay. Our room was OK but not as nice as the other parts of the hotel. Nevertheless, it was a decent room. Breakfast came with many varieties and was very delicious. Unlike other hotels where we were only served with packed stuff, this hotel was an exception. We also enjoyed the sunsets at the terrace where view is very nice. Staff were very helpful, they made a few calls for us when we could not communicate with our car rental company.

FranceLack of attention to little details, like broken or missing handles. Property description not accurate ( probably a Booking.com error rather than the hotel)Immediate surrounding area not nice.

ItalyYoussef helped us a lot during our stay. I think it was the best part, because we arrived in Tunis at night - for the first time in the country - and we did not know how the city works. Besides that, the hotel is fantastic and beautiful. I fully recommend it.

United KingdomWould have been good to have a kettle in the room to make coffee in the early morning before breakfast
Beautiful Tunisian architecture and rooms. Nice roof top with view. Conveniently located. Staff were very friendly and helpful, felt like home. It was my husband’s birthday- they got cake, candles and brought it out with music after breakfast. Booked taxis on Bolt app for our trips and came out to make sure we got into the right taxi.

GermanyThere’s nothing we didn’t like. Everything was great, right down to the last detail.
First, this hotel is nestled in the absolute heart of Tunis‘ striking Medina. Second, the staff are incredibly kind and helpful — they were always there to assist with a smile and made us feel 100% comfortable and cared for. The rooftop terrace is great, the library is a great touch and the breakfast is lovely. This place really does feel like the whole package and a great way to discover Tunis.

LatviaCompared to their other location, the rooms felt more cramped and in close proximity to other rooms.
Very large rooftop with plenty of seating to relax on a nice day. The library was stocked with an eclectic collection of books. Breakfast was delicious with a chakshuka and omelette for the two days we stayed. The guest rooms were very well decorated with great quality amenities. A wonderful addition to the Dar Ben Gacem portfolio of accommodations.

CanadaNothing, it was such a neat experience and a great intro to Tunis.
My flight from TUN to Djerba was cancelled and I booked in here because if the great reviews. Slim, the concierge, went above and beyond to make sure I arrived safely. He walked me through the taxi process from TUN -- even helping me navigate with a video call. He gave me an electricity converter. He totally saved my vacation and gave me such a great impression of Tunisia. I talked to the others at the (extraordinary) breakfast and Slim had helped others similarly. The place itself is like a stately fortress within the souk. It's a pretty direct walk to the mosque.
