How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

The room we stayed in was very small, so was the bathroom. The reservation stated 15m^2, it felt smaller.
Location is absolutely amazing. Piran is a very small town, the location of the hotel makes everything accessible within 5 mins. Also the staff was amazing, very pleasant, very helpful. We were arriving somewhat later than are regular check-in hours, they areanged everything without any problems.

There is none like that
Everything was perfect. Staff was very kind and helpful location is perfect. Room is clean and comfy. And the breakfast was the best we have ever had in our lives. Five star quality. Huge selection and perfectly fresh. We would love to come back!

This is Absolutely an exceptional property. The staff, rooms, cleanliness and the extraordinary breakfast. They go our of their way to make suree all of your needs are net. We would highly recommend this property for your stay in Piran. 10+++

Personel was open, friendly, did not impose any pressure, helpful (Gentlemen that was welcoming us at the reception, helped us with our luggage). Breakfast was one of the best we had.

This hotel is something completely different than what you typically find in Piran. The building itself has been repaired very well, without the typical small mistakes and flaws, everything is very precise. Second, actually first, the breakfast!!! We would come back just for the chance to have breakfast here again! If you can, take it, accommodation is rarely free. We already know why.

Only 1 extra pillow in the room, 2 would be better. Would be nice to have a full length mirror in the room too.
Room was on the small side but clean and comfortable. Breakfast was great and staff were friendly. Location is excellent.

Lovely hotel with young friendly staff who gave great advice as to where to eat & drink from the many options in the town. The breakfast is outstanding.

The location was perfect, in the old town just around the corner next to the sea. The breakfast buffet was absolutely amazing, one of the best ever.

Car parking is outside town and cost 23€ per day. You can walk into town (~20min) or take a free shuttle bus to the centre. This is valid for all hotels not only Zala
Very good location. We were welcomed with a big smile! He also gave us a lot of information on what to do and see. He also recommended a very good fish restaurant only a few steps away. It’s owned by a fisherman family. It was excellent and good value for money. The breakfast was fantastic even if we were told that it was less than during high season.

Can't really think of anything that was missing.
Lovely small boutique hotel, well situated just a few steps from the main promenade and restaurants, and a few minutes walk from the main square. Our room was nicely decorated, with new furniture, a comfy bed and with everything elae you would expect. Everything was very well kept and tidy, and the staff very friendly and helpful. We particularly enjoyed the wonderful breakfast buffet that had everything we could wish for and was more than we expected given we were staying out of season! All in all we had a great experience and would love to stay here again!

Exceptional warm stuff ready to assist from check-in to check-out. Spotless and well-maintained rooms. Delicious breakfast. The variety of options and the quality of the food exceeded my expectations. Refreshing smoothies at the beginning of a day were delightful surprise.
