How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

This place is PERFECT.
Booking.com should remove the "what did you not like" tab from the website only for this hostel. The place is clean, very well connected to the centre, has a supermarket and a food court right next to it, damn right I liked it!

The room was really cold during my stay (which is probably because of the weather (winter happened this day) and the room was booked just a couple of hours before the check-in - so it can be probably only my own bad luck.
Helpful and caring host, communication was supereasy and fast! Good location (in case you wish to see more than only city center, a walkable distance and also connected well by public transport).

Denis at Sparrow Hostel is just a wonderful host. He's very friendly, pleasant and helpful and gave us great recommendations so we could enjoy the city even more. It's super easy to get to the city center from the hostel, as well as the parks or the shopping center, and there are fast food, bakery and good restaurants nearby.

The bad thing is the location; but with a bike it is not more than 10 minutes to get to the bus station. I think this kind of Hostel is better for big groups, not solo travellers since there are no curtains for the beds, so you do not have that much of private space.
The host was really friendly and helpful Everything was clean There was a "BicikeLJ" station aswell, so you could use a bike to go to the city center

My first impression was - this is so nice. I liked how clean everything was. Beds are very comfortable, furniture seemed new, kitchen is very practical and equipped, I liked everything about the place. It provides with anything you might need. Host was very helpful and kind. I highly recommend this hostel.

No complaint at all. To improve this, I think adding laundry facilities would be great!
The receptionist was very helpful and friendly. Wifi was very fast. The location was a bit far from the city center but the bus stop is around the corner and it only took 1 bus to the city center. There are a lot of food around the area and some of them are 24 hours.

The location of the hostel is not very convenient as it is not close to downtown. It takes around 40 minutes to walk to the city center (but it is okay for me)
The staffs are friendly and helpful; the hostel is quite and clean; there arent too many people in one room so the quality is really good.

Can hear the traffic.
Clean, shiny, and well maintained with lots of nice touches. Great, friendly, and helpful staff. A hike to the center and bus station but along a good straightforward road.

Loud road.
Calm, clean small hostel. Nice kitchen with free food) All sanitary thing, you might need in the bathrooms. 2 lockers for each person at the room. Good matraz.

Wi-Fi was not great in the room.
The property is very clean, is not a party hostel which was good for the purpose of my stay (taking a rest). comfortable beds with clean bed linens and towels. A small kitchen with essentials for cooking. it is a bit far for the center but there is a bus stop just in front of the hostel with busses that will get you to the center in 10 minutes. The people working there are so kind, helping and flexible.

I really enjoyed my stay at this place. I was accommodated without any problems, stuff spoke good English and most importantly, the room was really clean. I appreciate that I was also provided towel. I can say that I was 100% satisfied

Hostel is not big and they dont have breakfasts but it is super clean inside! And guy from reception is very kind and helpful person. Also they can recommend to you a lot what to visit in the city or outside and how to use transport.

Staff was lovely but not being there most of the time made it harder if needed to ask a question. Location was a bit of a walk to train station and town centre
Lockers were an alright size and provided key. Everything was clean and beds were comfortable. Kitchen was well equipped and shared bathroom was great as normally no one would be in there at the same time

Just advice: Make another option like female room.
1. The bed is comfortable 2. Bathroom is seperated for female and male and it is really good! 3. They always make sure that tissue is provided in every toilet
