Igor was a fantastic host, cheerful and full of great recommendations for restaurants and things to do. The history of the building was so interesting and the location perfect for exploring the area. Parking was convenient and the room was very comfortable.Skofja Loka is so charming, easy hikes with views near the town and beautiful drives in the area.

We thought we were going to have a single bed for 2 people, but we had twin beds up a spiral staircase in a loft. We're a bit older now, and need to use the restroom in the middle of the night, so getting down and up those stairs at night was tricky. For young people, it should be no issue, and the loft allows for the couch and desk area below.

The owner was very kind, hospitable and offered us a drink of his honey liqueur upon arrival. The room was clean and had a couch and desk for guest use. We were traveling with friends and we were all on bicycles. The bikes were also very welcome and had a lovely, secure courtyard to spend the night. Breakfast was really delicious. The host made me feel very welcome. The location was great. Right along the river and by the bridge into the small downtown area. What a lovely little town!

The location was fantastic next to the old bridge & particularly good if you're arriving by bus. We had such a lovely welcome by the owner who served a special honey drink & told us about the layout of the town. Room was very comfortable & had a good view & breakfast was delicious. It was especially nice that they gave us a handmade traditional Christmas cake which we savoured on a bus trip later. I'm so glad we got to stay here & enjoy such lovely hospitality.

Nothing - all was good.

Fantastic host Igor was so welcoming and attended to all our needs. We were offered a welcome drink on arrival and were presented with slices of a beautiful homemade Slovenian cake for breakfast as well as all the offerings you'd expect. Igor recommended a lovely restaurant in the hills above the town with a terrace and view over the hills and villages. He also showed us the best and prettiest route for our onward journey. We chose the hotel for its value for money and location and it certainly did not disappoint - our room looked directly onto the river and the old town, which was only a moment's walk away. The room itself was airy, clean and comfortable - and had air conditioning. There was locked gated parking abut 100m away, but you could drop off luggage at the hotel first.

Not a lot of natural light in our room. But nothing can be done. Would have been nice to have washcloth (besides hand and body towels).

Location was great. Owner was very personable, and gave us welcoming shot of homemade schnapps (delicious!). Breakfast was very good, and Great bike storage!

The location in Skofja Loka was great. The rooms were very comfortable with a view of the river and we had everything we needed. The included breakfast was wonderful and Igor was extremely helpful in providing recommendations and information to help us plan our excursions. We used this as a base to explore Ljubljana, Bled, Bohinj, Predjama and the Skofja Loka area and it was perfect. We would definitely stay again!

Fabulous place. Great friendly owner who is helpful. A lovely stay in a lovely little town. A hidden gem in an old, interesting building. Greeted each morning with a lovely breakfast supplemented by a different tradition cake each morning. The photograph was taken from our room....what a view!

The breakfast is only bread, yogurt, cheeses and some meats so it is not the full breakfast as some places, but it is still wonderful.

Had a wonderful time in Skofja Loka at Hotel Garni. The location is perfect and wonderful right on the river. The owner is very engaging and full of information about the town and history of his property, which has been passed down for many many generations. It got quite hot and our room had good air conditioning. Skofja Loka is a small town so can be seen and walked in a day. Breakfast in the basement wine cellar was nice though the breakfast was a bit slim (see comment below)

We lovely everything about it. Igor, the owner, was so helpful and friendly. He is full of local knowledge and even got the weather right for the day. The view from our windows over the stone bridge and the town towards the castle was beautiful.

You cannot (surely?) get a better location in this historic town right by the river and the old bridge. A building with a history. The owner greeted us with a glass of his honey schapps and gave us a great tip for our onward journey - over the pass into Austria! How fab is that?

The hotel room was nice. Breakfast was good with a variety of homemade options. The owner in particular was friendly and helpful, we were a group of 6 and on New Year's Day he gave us little presents. The location is just perfect for walking around.

It is a wonderful place to stay. The guy running the hotel is very friendly, authentic, helpful and inviting. Breakfast is offers basically everything and is good. Would stay there again. p.s. Were there with motorbikes. Departed at heavy rain. He simply grabbed some plastic bags and tape to cover my boots. This describes the hotel best: Everything is uncomplicated and friendly.

Hotel Garni is a real gem, operated by Igor, whose family has owned this beautiful old building for more than a century. Location is perfect, the vibe is good, and the owner will happily tell you fascinating stories about the history of the town and the building.
