Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThere was nothing not to like! Justine, who handles the booking side, was super responsive (and patient) to my numerous questions in the month or two before my trip! Isabelle is brilliant and so incredibly flexible and calm in helping clients. She also provided advice on things to do and see, restaurants (many good places to eat in Kigali with a variety of cuisines), ATMs, where to get SIM cards etc. etc. I hope that one day I’ll get the chance to go back!
What makes Villa Asimba (as others have said) are the two sisters who own and run the hotel, Justine and Isabelle. They are totally delightful and kind. As testament, they have many repeat customers. It is a charming boutique hotel, elegantly furnished, with small pool and very peaceful The photos are totally accurate. The bedroom was lovely (comfortable bed) with en suite bathroom and good shower. Waking to the sound of bird song in the mornings was a sheer delight along with the anticipation of the lovely breakfasts including plenty of local fruit. (I also loved Isabelle's home-made dinners.) There is good aircon in the bedrooms if you want it. WIFI was spot on. There is a Simba supermarket about 10 minutes’ walk away. You can speak a mix of English and French if you wish (as I did). I was there for three days for a mini holiday before moving to a big conference hotel. My experience at the "Villa" as it is known, was so special that I promised to return on my last day before leaving for the airport for one last visit and a final dinner. It was with great sadness that I bid farewell after tender beef in peanut sauce washed down with a chilled Virunga beer. They have relationships with excellent taxi drivers, one of whom, Papy, is also a great guide to the city (we did the Kigali Cultural Centre and an art gallery and cafe (Niyo Arts Gallery-both excellent) plus visits to different zones of the city including business and residential areas) and a delight to spend time with. He was waiting at the airport on my arrival at 07.00 (direct from London Heathrow with RwandAir who were very good- 8.5 hour overnight flight) with my name clearly indicated. For those planning to do safaris or to travel to see the mountain gorillas, all that can be arranged.

NetherlandsI would like to have an iron and kettle in the room or available in a common area. Some may find the location to be a challenge, as taxi drivers didn't know it and there are few options within easy walking distance, but I did enjoy being in an area that wasn't touristy.
Lovely and well maintained guest house with delicious food and helpful hosts. Rooms are nicely furnished with comfortable beds and spacious wardrobes.

The hostesses , Justine and Isabelle, are wonderful. It is vey clean , it is quiet and very confortable. They send at the airport a fantastic taxi driver to pick me up and I kept using his services while I was in Kigali. I ate there 3 evenings in a row and the food was really good. So why to go anywhere else specially when you are alone.

BelgiumFew restaurants and cafés in the immediate vicinity. But then again, this neighbourhood is a good base to visit (with motorised transport) all parts of the city. My room was on the small side, but still adequate. You can't have everything :-)
The hotel is run by two sisters. They do an excellent job. They made me feel at home from the first minute. The food they prepare is great. They are very helpful; nothing is too much. The rooms are excellent: clean, good bed, good shower and plenty of closet space.

South AfricaIt was a little difficult to get around and whilst walking is perfectly safe, one arrives hot and sweaty due to the climate.
The owners were extremely helpful in making transport arrangements for me to get to the Convention Centre and airport. They also helped in drying my clothes and washing my muddy shoes when I got caught in a rainstorm. They also organized simple dinners for me.

BangladeshNo particular complaints!
Loved the hospitality of Justine and Isabela, the two sisters who manage Villa Asimba. Justine was brilliant in her communications pre-trip and was really helpful in sorting other aspects of our trip. The same goes to Isabela, her welcome into the house, lunch, conversations and recommendations were awesome. We were fortunate to get an upgraded room, which was beautiful and spacious. They also introduced us to an awesome guide, Papy, who took us to other places in Rwanda. My experience with this Villa is probably the strongest I've ever had in this platform and will recommend it to anyone and everyone.

SpainThere was nothing that we did not like about the property. We even cancelled reservations at another hotel so we could stay here.
We stayed here for 4 nights on 3 different dates during our travels in Rwanda. The property was beautiful, very clean and comfortable. The rooms were much nicer than what shows in the pictures. Justine and Isabel were fabulous and took great care of us. They went out of their way to help us with everything that we needed.

Justine is an exceptionally nice and very hard working lady. She excelled with communications as well as organizing airport pickup and tours. The premises were immaculately clean. The pool is an excellent bonus. Breakfast was really good and lunch and dinner can also be had there.
