The kitchen would be indian-american-rwandan. It was not, They didn't have much other food than brochettes, but these were very tasty. Room was small. Matrass too hard. We booked a comfort room, but got a simple cheaper one. Staff was not very helpfull. Breakfast okay, but simple: eggs, bread and coffee. We expected better thab we got at Maddy's. Payment of all three days when checking-in is quite exceptional. We left after 2 days leaving the payment for 3 days as it was. For us: enough is enough and we don't recommend.

I love coming to Maddy’s Kitchen for an inexpensive stay with just what I need. Their breakfast is very nice and included in the price. Their grilled fish was excellent. They have a pleasant garden outside and the location is perfect for getting to the beach.

The room was listed on booking.com as having 2 double beds but it only had one. The shower was only luke warm

There was no breakfast, but they did offer to help us order delivery. The bathroom in one of the rooms was not working properly, but it was dealt with quickly.

The location is excellent, especially for the price. The garden was very pretty and the room was just enough. The beds were very comfortable, with no mosquitos in the room. They were very accommodating, even allowing us to check out later then the usual time.

Room number was written by pen on a leather key ring so couldn't see my room number. No restaurant for coffee in the morning! You have to go somewhere else for breakfast.

The wifi doesn‘t work always

We spent there 7 nights and it was an amazing stay. The view over the Lake Kivu and the garden was so beautiful. Also the hotel, it was very clean and we had a very nice room. Also the staff was very kind and helpful. I‘d love to come back again.

Lack of response from staff. No light in the stairwell. When asked tissues it was not available. I had to ask few times for toilet paper roll. Breakfast was served at 08:30 and it was only an omelet and plate of few fruits. Bathroom was flooded.

Pretty barebones room. The whole place is full of mosquitos. Outside and inside the room, especially the bathroom as the shower head was leaking water even if closed off. The mosquito net is quite small, and had a few yellow spots… Staff seemed annoyed to have to deal with guests. In the evening there was very loud music until late, that could very much be heard from the room. No water provided. WiFi pretty unreliable and spotty. Price was alright but the experience very poor. They couldn’t arrange a pickup from the Rubavu bus park (which is 10 mins away).

Check-in was pretty smooth and they had a card reader which is always a plus in Rwanda. It’s very close to the lake. Comms on WhatsApp were quite good.

There is no food at the moment but places nearby. Very loud music early in the morning.

The place is very calm and the owner is very accomodating. It is close to the lake side, far from the city noise, with nice walks around. It is clean and from our bright room we could see the lake and the beautiful garden were you can spend some nice time. Overall a very good stay!

The staff is adorable, breakfast is good and they serve excellent fish as well as Indian dishes. Owner Blake is an easy-going guy and a good source of information about the region including the DRC. I stayed for three nights, felt perfectly accommodated and had a good time. Ask for a room with lake view.
