We really enjoyed our time here. The staff were incredible and went above and beyond to assist guests. We loved the location although it is not right in Gisenyi as we had a rental car to move about. The breakfasts were amazing and extremely filling! Would definitely recommend this resort!

No lifts in the hotel so people with mobility difficulties would struggle. The town of Gisenyi is 6/7km away but we didn’t mind this as the views were amazing.

Everything at this hotel was very good! Great friendly staff who were happy to help with anything. Beautiful rooftop restaurant and bar with amazing views. Bedrooms were very spacious with balconies. We would stay here again.

There is no elevator/ lift so some of my family members could not get up the stairs.

The room we stayed in's intercom didn't work during our stay, so we had to use the stairs to contact the reception.

The hotel's location: it is a stone throw from the shores of lake Kivu. We enjoyed the great view of the Lake from our room balcony as well as from the sitting space at the rooftop. The staff were friendly. We liked the breakfast buffet. The room we stayed in was spacious and the bed comfortable. From the hotel, we could walk for less than 5 minutes to get to several touristic attractions of Gisenyi (boat ride on Lake Kivu, some bars and a market area).

The location is a bit far from most of the happening places in Gisenyi, this was okay for me as I just wanted to sleep in but it would be good to take note.

I really liked this space because the view was over-looking Lake Kivu. The staff was also quite helpful with settling in and ensuring I had a great time. They helped book a boat on the lake and to see the city. They have an in-house restaurant and the meals served here were quite good as well.

Kivu Hilltop View Resort exceeded our expectations, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is travelling to Gisenyi/Rubavu. Staff were very helpful, especially the manager at the reception, waiters at the roof-top restaurant, and security staff. I arrived after a long ride on a muddy road and was surprised to find my car clean in the morning. During our check-in, one of our phones slipped and fell in the parking lot, and the security staff brought it to us. Words alone cannot express how grateful we were / still are. Many of the photos I took are personal; I uploaded only those taken at the roof-top restaurant at breakfast.

I have traveled a lot around the world both for work and leisure and stayed in different hotels (different STAR RATINGS), but the stuff at Lake Kivu Hilltop made my stay exceptional. The view at the hotel of the lake was spectacular. Definitely coming back soon

The continental breakfast was a bit disappointing. It was mostly fruit and bread (with only butter as a spread and no toaster).

Awesome rooftop view, clean and spacious rooms, friendly staff and a short drive to the centre of Gisenyi (10 minutes max). Toiletries were provided as well as a fan and mosquito net in the room.

No elevator, which is par for this country. Just happened to have a foot injury that would have loved to ride instead of walk stairs. Wi-Fi was free and working but could have been stronger and more consistent.

Staff were welcoming and friendly. They communicated prior to our arrival and arranged a boat excursion for us. The view was terrific and food was good.

The shower curtain was not fitted properly around the shower, and water would spill all over the bathroom floor with no towel to absorb or wipe the water. Also, a fan was only provided on the 3rd day of my stay despite having requested it on arrival. TV was not working. Buffet breakfast not the best (starch, fruit and boiled eggs). No drinking water is provided at breakfast.

The rooftop lake view is breathtaking. The resort is very clean and the rooms are a good size. The staff is very warm and helpful. Staff helped take bags to/from the room. They organised taxi, and the security personnel would even help guests to catch a motto at the gate. The resort also serves the best dinner meals in town. I had fish, pork, and beef, and all good. Make sure you try their grilled tilapia.

For one dinner we waited for 1h15, then I got up to the restaurant to see what was going on. I was told that their contact at the market kept telling them that he will bring ingredients, but he was actually giving them the run around. I re-ordered with meals that they had ingredients available, and food came in another 45 minutes later. I was pretty hungry after the 2 hours, but the whole process was pretty cool to be honest, and knowing that our food would have come fresh from the market is prety nice. Was not a bad experience, just a different one from hotels in Canada where I am from! Thanks again to the staff they were amazing. Water temperature is a bit hard to manage in the shower but once you figure it out it's o.k.

Amazing breakfast, super friendly and helping staff, amazing location, food was good for the other meals. Nice and clean rooms, good water pressure, good value for the price.
