The location is great, with a private beach to enjoy the lake Kivu and take a boat ride. Excellent food and warm welcoming like always. The guests can see the fishing activities during the sunset, really amazing experience.

No WiFi, lack of atmosphere, didn’t seemed ready for us. We had stayed at much worse hotels previously which had much better service. This was an excellent hotel but what seemed a lack of service but not through lack of trying. The man on the front desk really tried his best. Overall it was expensive especially for meals and beer for Rwanda, so that put a dampener on the stay.

Booking.com has its location wrong - it’s not in the centre of the town - it’s about 5 miles outside. We went to the booking.com location and there was no hotel there! With a lot of persuasion and confusion the hotel eventually arranged motorbikes to pick us up which was interesting with large rucksacks on! The room does not have aircon as described on the website but fortunately it wasn’t the hot season. The evening meal was OK - nothing to get excited about - better to eat elsewhere.

Room was lovely with views out over the garden and lake. Big shower and hot water. Friendly helpful staff. Breakfast was in a lovely setting and was ok.

Got garden room with poor lighting, electricity failure (luckily in morning), slow water drainage in bath, access road rougher than others but ok.

Good location on Lake Kivu near Gisenyi. Beautiful view and garden. Spacious room, clean bath w hot water. Friendly staff.

The restaurant closes a bit too early. But the security guys were such sweethearts to show me the way to the nearest restaurant.

The location is stunning. the view from my room was unobstructed view of Lake kivu and you can hear the waves hitting the shoreline. So serene, just the sound of the birds and waves. The biggest asset is staff. especially the security guys who are so helpful and kind and made my stay very memorable. the chef deserves a mention too. he’s pretty good. the prices of food are a bit on the high end. thanks also to the reception staff for their patience. 😊 I’ll come back

The location on google maps is not the actual location. You really need to drive around 5-10 south of Gisenyi alongside the water to find the Hakuna Matata lodge.

Some minor repairs in some of the rooms would be in order (e.g. had some issues with several lights, which were solved when asking. Also some problems with the hot water in the showers at times.) Some more variety at breakfast would be good (e.g. we were very happy that another guest had enquired about having some spreads the day before). Dinner could take a long time.

Amazing location, just next to Lake Kivu. Some of the best morning sights I have ever seen. Rooms were mostly OK, especially the larger apartment was nice. Price-quality wise certainly a good option to consider.

It was too cold. But that was expected. But there is no A/C in the rooms. The hot water in the shower was not that hot and was not enough. The restaurant closes too early. No spa 🥲. Not enough wine selection. No tv in the room. The internet was not very good although the staff provided an individual modem for our room.

The staff was excellent. Customer service is top notch. The location is exactly what we wanted. The food was very delicious.

The breakfast that came with the room was good but simple. It would have been nice to have more options of food.

The views were amazing, it's very scenic and peaceful. The hotel is located quite far from the town but this adds to how quiet and beautiful it is. Absolutely loved the service of the staff and the food was good.

The hotel is set along the shoreline of lake Kivu. In the entire hotel you have amazing views on the beautiful garden and lake Kivu. The room is very spacious and has a large window and balcony. The showers were warm and the bed very comfortable. We were always welcomed by the friendly personnel and the breakfast and restaurant food was delicious. We decided to walk to gisenyi, which takes approximately 45 minutes :) Definitely recommend staying here if you're close by.

-Unfortunately, my first night was ruined because the guests next door were partying till past 4am. I spoke to the manager the next day and they spoke to them about being quieter, but it was a terrible way to start the stay. Would be better if the hotel enforces a quiet policy after a certain time. -There’s no AC or fan in the room so it gets a bit hot at night.

Beautiful, scenic location on the lake. About a 10 minute drive from town. Very beautiful views while having breakfast or dinner. I thought the quality of the food was quite good and the staff were all very kind and helpful.
