Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsI like it all. Only suggestion perhaps would be to upgrade the bed and TV in the beach bungalow as bed and TV look really tired.
Fantastic resort with water, beach and garden bungalows. Great bar for sunset, overflow swimming pool and open restaurant. I stayed in a beach bungalow offering breathtaking views on the turquoise lagoon. It was a large beach bungalow including airco, jacuzzi, hamac and sleeping chairs. The staff is very nice and helpful. The property includes a dive center and offered several excursions.

United StatesNothing that we didn't like. We love it.
We stayed in a Beach Bungalow with a hot tub. The open air bungalow was clean and beautiful. Large, spacious bed and bathroom with a walk-in shower for 2 and separate toilet. We enjoyed the sitting area and the patio, especially when opening up the doors to the ocean. Beautiful views, comfortable beds (with air conditioning!) and the facilities were kept up nicely. We enjoyed the hot tub after a long day of diving to unwind and relax. The facilities were very nice. We frequented the pool in the afternoon and enjoyed at the restaurant for the large and delicious breakfast buffet (which was included) and fantastic dinner (The scallops are to die for). Very wonderful property, we would definitely recommend.

We totally enjoyed our stay at Hotel Kia Ora. May be the best and only true resort on Rangiroa. Understanding the limitations on staying on Rangiroa (narrow atolls, not much fresh water), and a small town Avatoru 8km to the west, means if you are going to stay there, you are not going to leave the resort much, and your only activities are going to be on the water. We stayed in the over-water bungalows, which have some mostly dead coral below, but it's enough to attract lots of fish, particularly at night. The fish balls can be huge, which attract predators like large nurse sharks, blacktip sharks, and giant moray eels, which typically attack the fish just before dawn. The staff are extremely friendly, locals, and many do multiple roles at the facility. The twice weekly Polynesian dancing at night has kids from Avatoru, and the dancers get diners from the restaurant to dance, and the food at these events is very varied with lots of seafood options. Very family friendly, but the pools are not impressive due to fresh water limitations (there's a pool near the bar, and some bungalows/villas have their own jacuzzi/pool), so best if you are in the water snorkeling, or out on excursions. The Wi-Fi is excellent and probably the best we experienced in French Polynesia. If you are a scuba diver, Top Dive is to the west of the resort and can be walked to from the beach. Definitely dive Tiputa pass.

United StatesBased on the price you pay to stay here I think the bicycles should be free to use and carry no charge. It felt a little too nickel and dimey to be honest to charge us for the bikes. Although not a lot, the the $15 USD flat rate covers a few hours and you are not allowed to take to your bungalow.
The staff was great, very helpful and accommodating. Amenities at this resort are similar to what you would expect at a 4+ star resort in French Polynesia. We had a great massage, dining in the restaurant was great and access to beach and snorkeling were great. The private plunge pool was very nice and outdoor shower and lounge areas were great as well. Room was comfortable, clean and secure.

United StatesThe overwater bungalows are a bit outdated and would need some extra maintenance. Because of that the air conditioning is not effective and the room was hot all time.

United StatesSadly, we had a large storm our first night, leaving debris from our thatch roof strewn throughout our unit. The storm also churned up the lagoon so that snorkeling was not very good for day or two. Also, if you are going for snorkeling, other islands in Polynesia (e.g, Bora Bora, Moorea) have better marine life in shallow water. If you are looking for large animal encounters, this is the place, with lots of sharks and rays. Despite low viz, I saw a manta and spotted eagle ray, a moray eel right near the bungalows. Much more in the channel. While the three days was fine for us, i would not recommend longer as there is not a lot to see or do on this narrow strip of land.
We stayed in a beach-front bungalow that had a nice deck and chairs with views of the bay. Food was quite good, but many of the menu items were not available. We loved the gazpacho, which we had every lunch. They have a beautiful infinity pool next to the bar, which has see-through floor to the sea life below. Enjoyed sea kayaks there as well.

United StatesThere is very little that I did not like about this property. My only critique would be that the buffet was quite pricey.
The Kia Ora is the best spot on the Motu of Rangiroa. If you like laid back, quiet and an amazing view, choose this beautiful place. The hospitality was 10/10! The view, the sunsets, the beautiful lagoon water, the snorkeling experience was the best I’ve ever had. The Blue Lagoon was heaven, we wished we had booked the full day instead of the half. The restaurant had a great selection of food options and drinks were delicious. They also allowed my kids to order burgers off menu at dinner and the breakfast buffet was a good selection of options. All and all, we loved everything. We went in, not expecting super fancy rooms, but they were clean and spacious and had all the amenities we needed for a family of 4. They were also cool, and the air conditioning worked well the patios we’re also very large and the kids enjoyed the Jacuzzi at night. I also had an amazing massage at the spa.
