Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

By far the highlight of my travels, to say the host, Navin, goes above and beyond for his guests is an understatement. Great for solo travellers, we visited during Nepali new year and Navin showed all the guests around the city, brought us to his family feasts and was above all else great company to be around, you have to stay here when visiting Bhaktapur!

TaiwanThis homestay is located a few meters away from Durbar Square, and you get a great view of it from the rooftop. It's not a hotel; there are people actually living in the other rooms. The host, Navin, is a very nice guy who really loves what he does, and he will introduce you to his family. If you want, his mom can prepare you traditional Newari meals, and he can also be your personal tour guide, taking you to know the city and the vicinities; he showed me places I would have totally missed if I were on my own. During my stay, I was basically his buddy, met his friends, etc. Overall, the only thing I regret is not being able to stay longer; Navin is the best host ever and he made my time in Bhaktapur so interesting and meaningful.

GermanyI guess it's normal for Bakhtapur that people are ringing bells on the street which woke me up a bit early but at the same time motivated me to have an early walk around the town and to experience the morning life of Bakhtapur. Just be aware of this.
Very good location as it is right next to Durbar Square. Bed was super comfy. The owner Navin invited me on Yamoris as it was the national day of Yamoris that day. He also offered me complimentary lunch on the rooftop and gave a lot of information about Nepali traditions and what to do around in the area. You can have a really good view off the rooftop

Amazing experience! Navin is the best host, we spent almost the entire time I was in Bhaktapur together, he gave me a tour of all his favorite places. Thank you very much for your time, for the conversations and for the cultural exchange. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic experience in Nepal.

New ZealandI suggest bringing extra toilet paper and practice your nepalese for talking to the rest of the family
The host family were nice and Navim gave me a free tour of the dubar Square. Good local knowledge and bonus that he could ward off the other guide offers (hagglers). Great roof top view for meals. Amazing to join their family workshop at the temple in the morning.

GermanyNo complaints!
This was a very memorable stay and I can wholeheartedly recommend Laxmi homestay for any traveller with an interest in local culture. Navin is a lovely guy and an excellent host. He literally spent hours walking with me through this beautiful city and attending parts of the Newari new year festival (bisket jatra) - while explaining many aspects of Hindu religion. The family invited me to share their 'feast' dinner that night. Next day it was cake at Navin's sister's birthday. Have I mentioned the great location yet? It's less than a minute to the Durbar Square gate and you have a great view of the square from the rooftop. The homestay only has two guest rooms. The other room was taken by an exceptionally pleasant American couple and Navin was kind enough to introduce me to them - at the end of the stay we travelled together back to KTM. I had an A++ stay at Laxmi Homestay.

LithuaniaWhat a wholesome place! The room was clean, tidy and comfortable, warm blankets. There was a family rooftop with an awesome view. The best of of course was the host itself, who was very friendly, answered any questions, open for conversation and sharing his culture. On the next day me and my friends were even invited to join his family for a festival. Couldn't get more local! Everything was good. But don't expect an extremely fancy shower or so like in a hotel. You are staying in place where local people live. And you will find everything you need! What could be better than that.

ItalyIt's the noisiest place on earth, the A to Z of noise, construction work, people yelling, dogs barking, kids shouting and running around, music, TVs and more. But it does stop between midnight and 7am so you can still get some sleep.
Right next to Durbar Square, gorgeous views from the rooftop, very clean room and bathroom, super comfortable bed(hard as stone but this is Asia and I like it), clean sheets and even a towel. The breakfast is tiny buy still a welcome extra for what you're paying. I asked about 20 guest houses in Bakhtapur and couldn't bargain the price down to anything close to the 7$ I paid at Laxmi. Very helpful owner.

Great location with roof terrace overlooking Durbar Sq. It's a real homestay, so don't come here to find privacy but for the opportunity to get to know a local who will take you all around town or do yoga if you like, or eat a family dinner. He goes above and beyond to show you his culture and family life.
