Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SwitzerlandNothing at all. The shower head could have a bit of maintenance, as it sprays the water everywhere :)
It‘s beachfront, perfect location to hang out and go surf (10min walk to Popoyo main break), outdoor shower to wash off sand and salt after the surf/bath. The house has it‘s own style, outside as well as inside, pretty cool! Markus is a welcoming host!

FranceOh lala Melting Elephante was clearly the best Hostel until i travel in centrale America This is about the place he is , the architecture, the sunset , the door of the room on the beach , AND the biggest part is because of Jamie and Dylan. They are making people feel like at home , they are always here whe you need something . It's clean and have equipment you need . We were supposed to stay 5days , and we spend 3weeks !

IsraelA special and amazing place just like the exterior look. We came back twice becuse we had so much fun. Who Run the place is a lovely couple named Dylan and jaymi that will make you feel like home in minutes. Help us with everything we asked for. A young, funny and sociable environment, a special and stunning structure, Clean and well equipped kitchen of the highest standard I have seen! Located right on the beach. Supermarket and great restaurants within walking distance. Excellent value for the attractive price they offer. We traveled 3 friends slept in both dorms and private room and it was great in both comfortable and very clean beds.

FranceDefinitely the best place to stay in Guasacate. The atypical place and the exceptional welcome of Dylan and Jamie made my stay more than perfect by their kindness, their availability and the unique atmosphere they create in this place. The terrace open to the sea and the spacious kitchen made me feel better than at home. Special mention for the cafe on the balcony overlooking the surf! Not to mention the Yoga classes that just ask to happen more often... A magical place for travelers looking for serenity in the land of perfect surfing.

New ZealandWe were sadly pretty disappointed with our stay at Melting Elefante - it has definitely seen better days. We booked a private room and there was paint chipping off the walls, clean but old and heavily pilled bedding with small holes, exposed wires hanging out of the walls, 2/4 main lights were out of action, a broken dimmer switch resulting in either bright fluro lighting or a dull strobe effect and the lightbulbs had been removed from the balcony. There was also no water available in the kitchen as mentioned in the description. There was no management or anything on site; no one to check us in, answer questions about the area / buses or just generally make sure everything runs smoothly. Messages sent to numbers provided and via booking.com went unanswered. All things that, by themselves wouldn’t be a big deal, but combined made for a pretty average experience. We ended up cutting our stay short and moving elsewhere. I can’t speak for the dorm rooms but if your looking to book a private room you can find way better (and cheaper) alternatives down the road.
Location is great, right on the beach front

United KingdomThe building is starting to fall apart, the room was small and extremely hot and had a tiny window in which the mosquito net blew out of the window every night. the walls where dirty and dusty ( I understand it’s on a beach, but it hadn’t been cleaned properly on our arrival) there’s nowhere to hang anything even the light switch is outside the room. The fridge doesn’t work and we were told that’s just how it is so our food went rotten and we couldn’t keep ice for drinks. and the two girls who are looking after the property completely Dictate the mood of the hostel/hotel. One of the girls was in a mood for the whole trip we were there, she even stated it and believe me we could tell!!! she was happy and chatty to the guys but pretty much disregarded us girls, it was very awkward. there friends actually used one of the rooms next to ours for a hook up. for the cost you can stay down the road (closer to the break) for half the price in many different properties and a big room with Aircon. I really wouldn’t recommend this property
it’s on the beach
