Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomFor a tiny room it was pretty expensive and although it had the breakfast included, I've been in hundreds of B&Bs in my life and none of them didn't include a juice or a coffee. Very stingy of them. Also fairly noisy on a Saturday night and if one is a light sleeper, he'd better bring ear plugs.
It was bang in the middle of town, looks like an revamped old colonial house. It has a pool and a large lounge/ balcony for having chats with other fellow travellers. Staff was pretty neutral... pleasant but not particularly interactive

what a location, 50m from the beach , and in a two story weather board house, so lovely.

United KingdomWe found the room small and dark. We had a bunk bed in addition to the double bed we had no use for. We had to use a shared bathroom, which could have been advertised in a clearer way.
Excellent location. The hotel is very pretty and it has a pool and A/C. Breakfast was okay. The staff were kind and attentive.

United KingdomLovely, charming traditional house converted to hotel use. Comfortable communal areas such as upper and lower lounge and pool to relax, air conditioned room, nice breakfast. Parking available, central location seconds from the beach. Fairly good value for money. It was ideal for our large family but looks like it would suit any kind of traveller.

United StatesWe stayed in the family room. It was spacious, the bathroom looked dirty but it’s because there are no vents in the bathroom so there is what appears to be mold on the walls.
It was very comfy and cozy. The vibe was very nice!

CanadaOur original booking was a room downstairs. That was very mildewey smelling. It almost made me vomit.I was prepared to sleep outside in the hammock.Rather than sleep in that room. But the girl on staff was very accommodating and immediately changed our room for us.
Pretty. Living room and breakfast. Very relaxing and homey vibe. The staff were all very sweet.

CanadaThe room was very tiny, and we were a little worried about it’s location at first: under the kitchen, beside the washer and dryer on one side, a common area in front, and the pool on the other side, as the walls are simple planks….but our sleep was quiet and comfortable.
We only stayed for one night while we sorted out some logistics for our extended stay in San Juan del Sur. It is a very basic, but charming, old house that was quiet for sleeping, and in a very easy location for arrival in SJDS. The staff were pleasant and the included breakfast was good. The air conditioner worked well.

CanadaJust being unaware of the shared bathroom situation. Otherwise it was great!
Room number 10 had a private bathroom and was very comfortable. But my parents had a room with shared bathroom which we were unaware of when we booked. The breakfast was delicious. The pool was nice to cool off in and lots of great seating areas.

United KingdomKitchen ran out of filtered water, which was not replaced. Didn't use the pool as it didn't look so appealing up close. Price advertised didn't include taxes, which bumps up the cost but this seems normal for Nicaragua and I was aware this would be the case in advance.
Charming, wooden sea-shack vibes with high ceilings shaded balconies, rocking chairs & hammocks. San Juan is small, so everywhere is walkable. Our room (#10) on the first floor was bright & quiet.

CanadaThe room itself was comfortable, however it was like a mini shed that was built under the stairs. You can see bits of light to the outside in between the planks of wood used to build the room. Thankfully, quiet hour was at 9pm and everyone was mindful of their steps anyway. The bathroom could have another rug as it’s small and water gets everywhere quick, if not the bathroom then an entrance rug to wipe your shoes before entering the room.
Breakfast was great, really enjoyed the traditional Nicaraguan breakfast. Their pancakes were fluffy and yummy. Staff was very accommodating and helpful. The property is nicely tucked around a corner of a street where it’s not too loud or not too quiet despite being very close to all the restaurants. Loved their porch for eating breakfast in the morning and the pool is a nice hang out spot. Very easy to get around and even catch the bus to Rivas. ATM is nearby and main attractions too.

SwitzerlandWe got the room under the stairs and since everything is made out of wood you can hear everything from the propriety and the street. The kitchen was above and the washer next to us, so it got quite loud. The showers have no warm water, which was fine though, since it was warm outside. The staff was rather absent. The pool could use some fresh water.
