I had an issue on checkout when I asked if the receptionist could book me a taxi to my next hostel near mangos Beach. He said the cost was 70 and I repeated this back to him 70? And he said yes so I booked it. When the taxi dropped me off it was actually 17USD! For a 10 minute drive!!! I couldn't believe it and tried to argue with the driver but he wasn't having any of it and I had no phone signal to call the hostel so I had to pay it. Most expensive taxi I've ever taken in my whole life, it put a downer on the rest of my day. I know taxis are a rip off in nicaragua normally but I had got one the day before for a few hours to drop me off in a few places all over the island for 30USD. I would still recommend this place to friends as it was great, but don't book any taxis with them!!

I loved the vibe of this place, it was better than I was expecting, really chill and I liked the staff, they went out of their way to help me. The location was also really good, close to lots of things.

We left early because of the bugs. I understand your on an island and theres no AC and what not. We ended up getting literally bitten by a huge cockroach. The beds have no mosquito nets and the doors and windows are not sealed so things get in pretty easy. We also picked this place cuz they had an electric shower, when we got there it was broken though..

Location was great. Most of the stuff on the island is around here. Cute spot, lots of room for hangout and working if you need. They have cute bunnies.

The 8 persons dorm is very war. There are not enough vans, space for your backpack and good ventilation.

Kitchen ist not very well equiped; dorm gets very hot at night as no air is moving through (there are 2 fans at the ceiling which help a little)

Lazy Crab home from home! Love the vibe here and how it’s just a little family. Lovely big open plan hostel with loads of chilling areas. Cooked breakfast is very good and very cheap. Ryder is such a friendly lovely owner and will always help you with whatever question you have :)

Room was dark and super hot, also the wifi was not really working in the room. Value for money a bit less than the rest of Nicaragua.

Balgue is a great location, staff was friendly and room seemed clean.

Lovely staff but volunteers usually don't have the end answer. Questions go through a few people but you do get the answer in the end.

We asked at the reception the day before we left, that we need a shuttle at 6 am in the morning. We talked to him twice and he confirmed the shuttle. In the morning there were no shuttle so we couldn't take the ferry and didn't catch the bus. That was annoying but I think it was a communication problem. Nica Things happens

The Hostal is really cool. It's located in Balgue on the second island. It feels like you are sleeping in the Forrest in small rooms, that was amazing. Really cool Ambiente! Stuff was Really friendly! There are some shops around. On the rest of the island you sometimes have to look a long time for snacks and drinks. Scooter rent is also really good!

Don't expect something too luxurious. The rooms are very basic and it feels a bit more like camping.

Really chilled hostel with an incredibly cool and helpful host. Good backpacke vibes as well.

I have never come across such a dishonest youth hostel. My order includes breakfast, and I paid a total of 13 US dollars. If breakfast is not included, the price of this youth hostel on another booking platform is only 10 US dollars. Last night, I asked the staff about the breakfast time today. The staff told me that it was 8 o'clock in the morning, and then I had to take a bus to the pier. He said that the bus was at 8:30 in the morning. This morning, I was waiting for breakfast in the lobby before 8 o'clock, but there was still no breakfast until 8:20. I asked the staff why I didn't have breakfast, and he replied that breakfast needs to be ordered, and then made, and the fee must be paid. In this way, I didn't have time to eat breakfast, so I took my luggage and left. Later, the store actually cancelled my stay, just because they were afraid that I would write a bad review. Not only is the seller dishonest, but the room is also very unclean. There are ants on the walls of the bathroom and the room. My bag of cookies was full of ants in the plastic bag the next morning, so I had to throw it away.

The manager was awesome, everyone was so nice and super helpful. They have bikes to rent on-site too which is super helpful. And the breakfast 🥞 is perfect to kickstart the day

I think the idea of the place is good but in my opinion there would be many improvements. There is not really a social vibe, they don’t sell any drinks, the common area could be more cozy and the room for 3 was extremely small. We left one day earlier to another hostel because we didn’t like the atmosphere at all.

They rent pretty good scooters.
