It would be good to have more information written down about transport services and tour options.

I liked the rooftop terrace, great views of the town and surroundings. My room was comfortable and spacious, and the staff were friendly. Free coffee was a nice touch. I could use the kitchen to cook and keep food in the fridge.

Excellent choice for digital nomads and/or those looking for a clean quiet hostel in the center of San Juan del Sur. Spent a week here working remotely and the Internet was fast, stable and battery back up kept it functioning when the electricity in the town went out once for twenty minutes. Friendly and helpful staff. Free coffee and very affordable room price for an otherwise bit pricey town. Everything was clean and functioned well and was very appreciative of the coworking room having AC.

The property is located one block away from the beach front. It has immediate access to a supermarket, amazing restaurant (Alma) across the road and a laundry and ATM. The reception staff were very helpful.

The 2 guys running the hostel were very nice and gave good advice. The hostel is opposite Casa Oro which organized all my transfers to beaches and other towns. This was very handy. The room was basic but clean. Wifi was good.

There was a power cut very early my first morning which set off an alarm. This made the fan room very hot and uncomfortable. I was upgraded to an ac room for my last night :)

The room was very small but it was just for me so it was fine.

The location was excellent, close to everything I needed' There was no breakfast involved but kitchen facilities were. As well, many restaurants were nearby.

It’s quite noisy, especially at night. The windows are not very well secured, so you can hear dogs barking, cars passing through and loud music. We were a bit unlucky that during our stay there was a town festival, so they played very loud music all evening. Of course, not the hostel’s fault, but it should be considered making the windows more noise-cancelling. This was really the only issue, everything else was perfect! We would definitely come back.

Extremely clean, the location was perfect and the staff really friendly. There is a small kitchen that we used to make breakfast, which was a big plus for us. The ac was fantastic. There is a nice co-working room and a balcony on the top floor. The wifi worked perfectly, I managed to work with no issues. If you want to surf, the hostel just across the street offers shuttle transfer to the main surfing spots and it’s not too pricey (low season).

Keep in mind - you are located downtown so expect noise from the street (especially if you're on the ground floor).

Hostel Tropical is more like a hotel than it is a hostel - giving you privacy and offering services like cleaning your room. The staff is very friendly and helpful, the rooms are large, have AC, and a strong Wifi connection. The rooftop terrace is great - head up to enjoy the views and relax. Located right in the heart of downtown San Juan del Sur you're within walking distance of everything you need - restaurants, the beach, groceries etc. Casa Oro is right across the street so you can easily catch a shuttle to other local beaches. This isn't a typical hostel experience (private rooms, small kitchen, limited communal space, etc) but would be great for a family or working professionals who want to enjoy a more laid back vibe at a reasonable price.

Clean hostel with great location and helpful staff. The best part was having A/C and drinking water in the lobby to fill our water bottles. Also, the rooms were spacious for 2 people, with an area to hang your clothes, mirrors and good lighting. Just what we needed for our visit to San Juan del Sur! We were really happy we stayed here. Having Hostel Oro across the street was a plus because you can book their shuttle to Madera beach, rent the surfings boards and join their activities without having to stay there without AC hehe.

There was a terrible smell in my room - kind of like permanent marker. Never faded in 18 hours.

Small room with ac and private bathroom. Very close to ships and restaurants and the beach.
