To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

NigeriaTo say that I was highly embarrassed and suffered grave inconvenience will be putting it mildly. After I booked on booking.com and got the confirmation email, I contacted the property as well and they confirmed my reservation. It was therefore shocking when I got there on my day of arrival and was told that they were fully booked. The receptionist tried to call the manager that I had contacted earlier but he did not pick up his phone. I tried as well but no response. I even sent him both SMS and WhatsApp messages but he never responded. I had to take a taxi all around the area, shopping for an alternative and eventually did after about an hour. I was very distressing. Weena Resort was exhibited a very unprofessional and rude way of treating guests.

Demola, the lead member of staff was professional, proactive and an all round great guy. The room and bathroom were spotless and the bed was comfortable but could do with a couple more pillows.

NigeriaThe bathub was made of cheap plastic and broke by the end of the 2nd day. The toilet seemed to be leaking. There weren’t enough towels to keep the floor dry enough. The hot water was not running, mostly warm(if you wait long enough). The air conditioner wasn’t powerful enough to sustain a cool temperature in the room. Definitely needs at least a standing fan in there.
The staff were nice, polite and responsive.
