Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe bathroom windows didn't seal when closed allowing mosquitos an entry point so we bought tape and covered the spots so the room was mosquito free from then on.
After doing lots of research about where to stay in Mauritius we choose Perebeye and the Dodola Lodge. The room was perfect. We choose one with a kitchenette. There was a drying rack on the patio although the cloths dried best in the room as it was humid outside. They have a shared kitchen with a fridge and cooking area if you didn’t go the kitchenette route but to have everything you need in the room was amazing, glassware, plates, utensils, mugs, kettle, fridge, hand towel, cutting board, microwave and counter space. They even provide a sponge and liquid soap. The only thing missing was an ice cube tray. We improvised and made ice using small paper cups and at one point even aluminum muffin tins. The hotel provides soap but no shampoo or conditioner. The shower has plenty of hot water and the aircon works great. There are black out curtains and a safe in the room. Beach towels are available at 50MR each and you can keep them as long as you like. Mitch was helpful in any info we needed and responded to my emails quickly before arrival. The grocery store is less than a 5 minute walk away and has everything you could want. The fresh baked baguette ( 9MR ) was a staple for sure. A 6 pack of phoenix beer about 375 MR. The location is great, and since on a side street very quiet. 2 min walk to an ATM, fried chicken, pizza, crepes, 3 min walk to the bus and an amazing food truck at the beach, 4 min walk to the taxi stand, 4 or 5 restaurants and then the super market. The beach is great, crowded with locals enjoying, picnicking, a pentanque court and playing music. The sun sets right into the ocean – the view is incredible. The bus to Grand Baie takes 5 minutes and is 24 MR. In terms of exercise by walking there are no side walks and the cars go whizzing by, if you bring water shoes you can start on the beach and continue to the right and walk all the way to another long stretch of beach.

Czech RepublicThe air condition was not very strong. There is no fridge in the room :( The beach just front to the hotel is not that good (despite what google rating says). It is too crowded and the less crowded parts are not easily accessible.
Room is very nice and spacious. Wifi worked very well. The property is very safe with gate and a night guard - not sure if necessary but they definitely make sure all is safe. Plenty of nice restaurants around. Private parking lot is just behind the building.

UgandaThe TVs are weirdly placed and are not smart TVs so you really can’t watch anything on them unless you carry some movies on a USB drive.
Very well located; it’s close to many amenities like the supermarket, lots of restaurants; the bus stop and the beach. The WiFi connection is also great. The staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful.

IrelandThe bathroom has an interesting style, but we quickly realised that the design was more dangerous than nice. The floor is uneven, a mix of pavement and holes with sea stones. at first glance you say wow, but after 15 minutes I almost injured myself while walking in the bathroom.
The rooms are nice, there is a nice beach very close to the apartment, a couple of restaurants and a bar to enjoy the evening.

United Arab Emiratesit’d have been nice if the lodge had its own breakfast, but not big deal as you’d still be able to grab breakfast at one of the cafes nearby.

United KingdomThe bed was too hard for me and pillows were too high. lack of water pressure and hot water in the sink. limescale in the toilet. Communal kitchen area needs to be cleaned better. Drawer fronts, microwave felt sticky. Although is was a great convenience to have access to a kitchen, which is well equipped. The do have rooms with kitchenettes so if you need a kitchen maybe book one of those. There is sometimes sewage smell in the bathroom.
location location location ! 1 min away from the best beach in Mauritius. 5 mins from the nearest supermarket. Its clean, affordable, felt like home really. Rooms were cleaned everyday. Kim really is lovely, we spent quite a few evenings talking about island life. Unlike a 5star hotel which can feel quite sterile and functional, this had a home away from home feeling. It’s family friendly we had 2 kids aged 5 and 2. Kim is really helpful in suggesting and planning visit to other places. The cleaners and staff are lovely and non intrusive. There are food places as soon as you walk out the hotel. it’s in a very safe area but Maritius is very safe overall. the bus stop is 1 minute away. Grand baie by bus is about a 5 minute journey.

GermanyThe way they designed the bathroom with a glas door just next to the bed. So if you wanna use the restroom and don’t want your partner or friend to be part of it you have to use a roll curtain. It wasn’t a problem, just something I would change somehow :)
Staff: very professional, when we had to switch rooms, always welcoming and helpful with a smile on their face Location: In a little street, so you don’t hear that much of the main street, but just kind of across the beach. Just grab your towel and enjoy the beach. Wifi: Very good. There is a router in every room. Shared kitchen: All you need to prepare a meal. Kitchen was clean Room: Clean and spacious Balcony: Chairs and a table to chill. We had palm trees just in front, so it felt like we are really somewhere in a jungle and not in a village. And the balcony had a roof, so when it rained we were still able to chill outside. There was a clothing rack. Definitively worth the money!
