Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IndiaWe didnt have access to running water twice during our 24 hour stay there. No wifi signal in the room we had to go to the common area.
View at chill pill is amazing! Close to Blue bay, supermarkets and resturants. They have a nice pool by which you can relax during the day. The rooms and the common area have been set up beautifully.

DenmarkThe room was a little small and the bathroom was not up to standard. They painted the shower, which was peeling. We had to be careful washing your snorkeling gear in the shower as the paint would attach to it.
Chillpill is a nice place to stay, near the airport. Mahébourg is an authentic town and the lagoon around the accommodation is amazing. Great place to stay if you need to get to the airport early, but also to explore the south-west area of Mauritius. It’s close to Blue Bay and Ile aux Aigrettes. The balcony and view from the room were amazing!

United KingdomThe fishing trip was really enjoyable (our first time fishing!) but perhaps could be 2-3 hours instead of 4. It might be an idea for the guesthouse to have coal onsite available to purchase, or include it in the activity price, or to have the option for the staff to cook the fish for you for an additional charge. The 'no outside food' rule was quite strict given we had booked an activity with JP through the guesthouse. Perhaps a slight relaxation could be allowed to include the fish caught with JP :) The AC in the room was quite noisy, I was grateful to have the ceiling fan in the room as this was quieter. I think our room had just had some work done in the bathroom, the host did tell us on arrival about the strong smell, so I think it was unfortunate timing for us. WiFi was patchy in our room but as we spent most time by the pool it was okay.
The guesthouse is ideally located - easy to find and everything in Mahebourg is walkable. The setting is beautiful, I believe all rooms have a balcony or private outdoor space, and I like the fact that there are chairs in the shade as well as the sunloungers by the pool so you don't overheat :) Although we did not eat in the restaurant, the decor and view is perfect - looking out to sea. The polite staff did our laundry for very reasonable fee. We paid the additional fee to stay on-site and I believe this is a very popular option given the proximity to the airport! Late check out - whilst you don't have room access, does give you pool and shower access which is a very considerate touch. The team arranged for us to go out with local fisherman Jean Paul, we caught lots of our own fish to eat for lunch. As we had limited experience preparing fish, JP and the staff did instruct us how to do this. There is an BBQ to use but you have to purchase your own coal, we were quite tired from the excursion, and were leaving the following day so I think the staff took pity on us and very kindly offered to fry the fish we had prepared. Unfortunately, we had to eat the fish in our room, it would have been nice to dine in the lovely restaurant setting!

United KingdomWe liked everything apart from the weather - it was rainy and windy when we were there!
Our room was right on the sea, which was great. Our room also had a lounge area with sofa bed which meant our daughter got her own room, which she liked (she also liked the pool). Great breakfast. Easy walk to Mahebourg and also a nice small restaurant very nearby called Chez Marilyn with great food. Short drive to Blue Bay.

GermanyThe Wifi was not always the fastest, but we bought a Tourist Sim from Telcom for 750 MRU (200GB for 30 days)so the boys were even able to stream their soccer match from home ;-)
We loved the authentic feel about the place which is located directly by the sea. We started off staying in the cute blue roofed A-frame „hut“ which gave us the traveler feeling looking out into the beautiful garden. Nathalie surprise us with a night in the flat directly by the water. Lovely! All rooms are lovely decorated and the staff is friendly and helpful. During our 4 night stay, we ate at 4 different restaurants all 5-10 walking minutes away. Delicious. Taking the bus to Blue Bay (30 MRU per person) is great fun too. The organized taxi pickup at 700 MRU was waiting at the airport.

LatviaAs I said, staying in a wooden cottage for one night is ok. For a longer period, personally, I would not recommend it. The room is narrow. We had no light in the bathroom, had to turn on the flashlight of the phone to see something in the evening. Basic items such as kitchen utensils and a trash can were also missing. It is definitely a good experience to sleep so close to the ocean, but it was difficult to sleep due to the sound of the water.
We were given a small wooden cottage separated from the other guest house rooms. The room had one window and oh.. The view! Sounds from the water.. It felt like lying on the ocean. Altough I was expecting something different, but for one night it was good.
