How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

It was a little noisy during the day - but then it is a hotel in the centre of a city.
The accommodation provided everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The room was clean, very spacious, and well-equipped, matching the description and photos provided online. The location was convenient, with easy access to nearby attractions and amenities, mainly through using a taxi - walking around Antananarivo as a tourist is not a rewarding experience. Good value for money - we felt we got what we paid for. The staff were friendly and helpful, ensuring our needs were met throughout our stay. Overall, we would stay there again if we had to be in middle of the town.

The neighbourhood is not really a place to stroll around. Also if you're on your way to the eastern parks there is additional travel time.
The personal is lovely and passionate and they will do their absolute best to make your stay as pleasant as possible

The hotel is close to the main road, so the room was noisy from early morning to evening. If you are a light sleeper, bring earplugs. The only communal space is the restaurant and a small sofa at reception.
The staff were really friendly and were able to help with all my questions. They spoke English and French. The location is excellent and close to several amenities. Breakfast was delicious, and there were lots of options to choose from. Excellent wifi!

Rooms are clean and comfortable. Staff are friendly and go out of their way to help guests. Breakfast spread is good. Easy to walk to nearby restaurants and downtown.

The service level was very good. They spoke very good English. Was very helpful in arranging a doctor to come and see me in my room.

Location in city center is convenient, but the polution from vehicle exhaust is everpresent.
The hotel has been furnished with the intention of artistic elegance rather than corporate economy which made the stay far more pleasant than at most modestly priced hotels. The food on their in house menu was very tastefully prepared, nicely presented, healthy and very good. The staff was attentive, very helpful and most spoke and understood english.

I had to wait to get a blanket when i arrived due to a power shortage. I received a small one and had to ask a bigger one. I had very limited hot water during my stay

The internet connection was inconsistent (often dropping during the mornings) and there is some traffic noise audible at night - perfectly normal for a city and the down town location, not excessive, but good to be aware of.
I loved my stay at this locally owned and run hotel. The staff were incredibly kind and accommodating. Breakfasts were delicious and generous. The bed and linen were excellent. Neat and tastefully decorated. The location is great - central with quick access to the various locations where I had meetings - bypassing most of the peak hour traffic. There are good restaurants within a 100m radius - walking distance - and one of the world-renowned Robert chocolaterie shops is literally around the corner. There are also several supermarkets close by. Excellent value for money.
