Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomPillows are a little on the soft side, but certainly that’s down to personal preference.
The hotel is full of awesome antiques and had a really nice atmosphere in its bar and restaurant areas.

United KingdomI could not say there was anything I did not like.
A lovely hotel, great central location and a charm that not all hotels have. The staff were excellent. And the had covered parking for motorcycles which was very handy considering I visited in April. I would definetly book again and my travelling companion liked it so much he intends to return with his partner. All round a lovely hotal with a lot of charm.

NetherlandsFor us the only downside was the layout of the shower; it is hardly possible to shower together, and if you are built big it is neigh on impossible to turn whilst under the shower.
Beautiful property on a great location. Nice option to park in the back (for a cost, which makes sense considering the location) and great general facilities. Breakfast is worth it, the bar is superb. The room was clean and very comfortable.

NetherlandsOne kettle in the room would have been nice. The walls are super thin, sound from outside will invariably come through. Not a big deal though.
Balcony with nice view. Spacious room and comfy bed. Cheerful staff. Perfect location at walking distance to castle and eateries.

GermanySadly the restaurant of the hotel wasn’t open during our stay, would have loved to experience its old authentic vibe. Also, the hotel is a little bit on the pricier side, but I can see why!
The family hotel is old and authentic, full with a lot of antiques, but at the same time really well renovated, clean and comfortable. It has an old-time-y atmosphere, which makes it pretty cozy. We hade a nice view down the street and towards the nearby church. Easy to locate, friendly staff, clean bathroom, spacious room., big comfy bed. You can take the stairs or the elevator. There is a breakfast option as well if you pay an additional fee. There are just a few parking spots at the back of the hotel, so you have to book one in advance if you’re traveling with car. The staff was really friendly and understanding and let us park there for a bit while we were checking in and sorting our luggage. Otherwise you can park your car for free at the city entrance (7 min. walk) or against a fee near the nearest church (5 min. walk). It was safe and quiet. Also 5-6 min. walk to the city centre. Tip: there is a little café 5 min. away from the hotel right down the street, where you can have breakfast at a really reasonable prize (also a family run business, everything is baked on the spot, friendly staff). We enjoyed our stay! Would book again!

AustraliaThere is no kettle in the room but we were able to rent one from reception at a small fee.
We enjoyed the atmosphere of this hotel. It was as old and quaint as the rest of Vianden, and it was the perfect spot to explore the castle and surroundings from. Everything was clean, and we had a comfortable and enjoyable stay. I recommend booking a parking space as there isn't other parking around. Once we had parked the car we walked everywhere. There are great restaurants just down the road and a small bakery provides fresh croissants and coffee in the morning.

PolandNo kettle, few tea bags or even a small bottle of water (!) in the room (and pub is closed at 8.p.m). Very expensive parking (maybe because there are only a few spaces available). Breakfast is the same every day. No fruits and vegetables (and it was the fruit and vegetable season). No water in price, only small glass of juice and poor quality coffee, Breakfast is served to the table and everything is distributed. Cappucino or espresso during breakfast was extra pay ( it is rather unusual in 3* hotels).
The common area of the hotel is very nicely decorated and atmospheric. Very helpful staff, the receptionist told us where was the free parking (Thank you very much). Our room, despite partly stylish furniture and a comfortable bed, was not very cozy (e.g. no bed rugs or floor coverings).

Netherlands3 settings on the showerhead but 2 were leaky and the 3rd setting had low pressure of water.
The location of the hotel is unique, we had a room on the 3rd floor with view over the terrace. The view was nice, misty mountajn in the morning. Bed was comfortable, room size was good, balcony size also.

NetherlandsThe corridors were a little dark at night, especially at the porch where the door is for us to enter and exit the hotel. Perhaps installing more lights would be a nice idea. :)
