Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWe stayed in the cabana and it was so beautiful, right on the sea front. Fall asleep with the sound of the sea, walk along the beach in the day, see the sea turtles. It was just perfect. It was our honeymoon and the staff couldn’t have been more attentive!!! So friendly and welcoming, it was also my birthday and they really went over and above to make it special. Highly recommend

EstoniaThis beautiful beachside spot is perfect, with a natural pool nearby where you can swim and snorkel with sea turtles. We stayed in a spacious and lovely King Room with a Sea View. It was easy to go from our room to the beach for a swim or sunbathing. The area is peaceful and quiet, a few kilometers away from Unawatuna's main street. The breakfasts were delicious, and the service was generally good, though prices are a bit high due to its tourist location. During our stay, there were new staff members who hadn't been fully trained, leading to a minor misunderstanding. However, the owner resolved the issue professionally with an apology and a thoughtful gift. We didn't meet the owners in person, but our interactions through messages and calls showed they are very sincere and kind people. Overall, this place is definitely worth visiting for a memorable experience. For more recommendations on traveling in Sri Lanka, follow us on Instagram @fallinlovewithearth. Thank you! United KingdomNothing. Only niggle was the taxi to the airport which we booked through the hotel was slightly expensive and then on the way to the airport driving through a toll, the taxi driver got pulled over by the police for over half an hour. Slightly stressful when you've got a flight to get to, and no explanation was given - guessing the driver didn't have the right papers ?! But this is more a review of the service we booked through the hotel. On a positive, the hotel gave us breakfast to go as we had an early flight.
The location of this hotel cannot be beaten. We had a great two nights staying at this hotel, finding it incredible relaxing and the perfect place to end our holiday. Rooms were large with all the amenities you require, there is a restaurant that serves delicious meals, and turtles swimming in the sea which you can see from the hotel. We particularly enjoyed watching the turtles as the sun was setting with a sun downer!

United Arab EmiratesLocated on a beautiful, clean beach, the constant sound of waves rolling in over the rocks, watching turtles coming in to feed, and the sunset to the west. Walks along the soft golden sand along the coast, swimming in the lagoon. Excellent restaurant, freshly cooked seafood, salads, Sushi, pasta, burgers, Sri Lankan curry, great Sri Lankan breakfast available to order. Live music two evenings a week. Friendly and helpful staff, a great find!!

GeorgiaEverything was truly amazing
1. Turtle beach (just on the backyard of your cabana) is one of the most beautiful and safe beaches all around the south coast of Sri Lanka. Big coral reef covers the coastline making huge natural swimming pool without waves or undercurrents which is just ideal for kids. This place is turtle’s favorite so you can see huge turtles swimming just in front of you. 2. Beachfront cabana is very clean, air conditioned, with brilliant white linens which was one of the main signs for me we’ve chosen the right place to stay. We were falling asleep and waking up with ocean sounds which was amazing. I will miss our cozy turtle cabana so much 3. Atmosphere is so peaceful. All these wooden loungers and hammocks just in the yard under the huge curved palm trees with the ocean view. I mean… True paradise. 4. Delicious meals, always fresh seafood. One of my all-time favourites is Chargrilled Tiger Prawns with Creamy Herbs Sauce. Truly a masterpiece. 5. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly. I will never forget a cup of coffee kindly welcoming me at 6am during the check in. Priceless. Definitely worth to stay here at least once in a lifetime ✨

Everything! Beautiful surroundings from the room to the gardens to the beach which was a stone’s throw from the room. Saw turtles from a distance as wanted to avoid the Hurley burley of following them and touching them. Great food and it was lovely to meet the owners who were very sociable and kind.

United KingdomSomething that seems common to almost every Sri Lankan hotel and restaurant - the constantly insistent Muzak and techno music drone numbing your brain

GermanyThe cabanas were very lovely and clean. The personnel was very attentive, especially the cleaning maids and Kokile the server, who walked out of his way to help my wife who arrived sick. He gave her a special herbal mix and by the next day she was feeling much better. What a wonderful soul! The food was good and the location was perfect. Just some steps to the beach where we were able to see turtles in the ocean. Absolutely stunning.

United KingdomJust to note that the tuk tuk drivers who wait outside the hotel charge five times as much for thee same trip as the tuk tuk drivers found in the centre of Unawatuna.
We stayed in a stunning spacious cabana just metres from the beach. We had breakfast every morning on the patio of our cabana and the waiter Jerome took great care of us Hotel is situated on a lovely beach with naturally occurring pool in the sea from a ring of coral where you can snorkel with dozens of enormous turtles every day

BulgariaThe furniture is old, but kept in a very good way. Still a bit of refreshment, would be nice
We stay in this hotel for a 3th time. It is a small hotel with beautiful garden and amazing view over the ocean and the waves crashing in the rocks. We stay in a cabana, which has a very comfortable bed, spacious bathroom and large furnished veranda with view to the garden and the ocean. The staff are very friendly and provide perfect service. Very clean and properly kept. Beach is good for walking. Unawatuna is very short tuk-tuk drive away.

PolandA spacious bungalow in a well-maintained garden. Right next to the beach with large turtles that you can feed with seaweed :) But all this would be insignificant without the people working in this place. I'm talking about a manager named Nishantha and his associate Kokila. Incredibly friendly, polite and customer-oriented people. They do a great job there. Very efficient cleaning crew consisting of 2 very nice ladies whose names we did not know. I must also mention the gentleman opening the entrance gate. Truly a 5 star team! Breakfast very good, dishes from the menu as well. Great mohitos! Book without hesitation :)

BahrainA very minor complaint, which is nothing the hotel can change: its position on the main road meant to go anywhere else involved a Tuk Tuk ride - very dangerous to walk anywhere. Happily there was one always available, but this was low season so the local driver was always at hand
Food, staff, room and view were all excellent. Recommended.

Despite arriving very late, we were greeted with a warm and friendly welcome including delicious fresh passion fruit juice. Our cabana was beautifully presented with ample space and spotlessly clean. Staff were well trained and very attentive. Breakfast was served on the veranda of our cabana each morning with options presented to us the night before. Highlights included the king coconut and kola kenda. On request, lunch and drinks were served to the cabana with an attention button in case we needed to order more. The cabanas are located metres away from the beach, a short walk to the right of the hotel which takes you to the giant turtles conservation area. We recommend going in the morning, preferably before breakfast (take 1000 rupees to buy seaweed for the turtles from a local seller) and then hopefully, like us, enjoy some time alone with the turtles. This was a highlight of our week long visit to Sri Lanka. Off season, the water was fairly choppy on the first day (I recommend to take water shoes for the rocks) however much calmer on the second day and an easier walk on the sand. An alternative walk is heading to the left of the hotel where you can walk for miles along deserted beaches, spotting smaller turtles along the way! There are a few obstacles to climb over but all manageable. If you do not wish to eat at Rockside, then a bustling area on the beach full of bars and restaurants is just a 10 minute Tuk Tuk ride away. We recommend Samson Seafood Restaurant which delighted us with an exceptional seafood platter and wonderful service.
