Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomVery loud dogs during the night kept me up, but nothing to do with the place itself. Just something to be aware of. Also situated a bit further out which wouldn't be a problem if you drive a motorbike.
A really relaxed stay, a great place to socialise, friendly staff. Private room was great to stay in, really comfortable.

Brazilthe private rooms are at the front of the property & im not sure if the dogs at the hostel belong to the hotel staff or if theyre strays but unfortunately they would bark at other dogs at the front gate close to our room so woke us up every night. maybe it would be good for guests if the dogs were kept inside at night time? regardless, it didnt spoil our trip. just an observation :)
fantastic place to stay. facilities were amazing, staff very kind. although its about a 30 minute walk to town, tuktuks are around 5,200 riel so its worth it especially as there a few other hotels with a pool in the area. we loved it so much and even extended our trip here. thank you so much!

United Kingdom- poor laundry service, had to get my clothes washed twice. The first time my clothes were so fousty and chucked in a wet bag. Returned them to be washed again, much better and smelt cleaner but was given back to me with half of it still damp and had to air dry it out on my final day. - the bed/mattress dipped in the middle which gave for 4 nights of uncomfortable sleep continually rolling into my partner - only a bed in the AC3 room. No desk, chair, kettle, hand soap. Also no chairs or table on the patio whereas the other AC1 room had one outside. - room wasn’t cleaned/towels replenished the whole time we were there.
Lovely stay at Yellow Star. Our AC double room was a great size. The food at the hostel was fab, lots of options for vegetarians. Didn’t use the pool but it was always cleaned and was a lovely chill out spot and a great space to connect with other travellers. T was a great host and took us out on the sunset river cruise from the sister hostel Yellow Sun which was an amazing experience. Brianna gets a special mention as she made our stay so comforting and she was always smiling when we saw her, thank you for the best cocktails ever!! The dogs are so loving and adorable, although it wouldn’t hurt to give them a wash!

United KingdomIt’s a little out of the way, but very short cheap tuk tuk away ir you can rent a bike.
We moved from another hotel for the pool and AC.Honestly we loved our day at this place. There was a little hiccup with the room but all was sorted quickly and professionally by the super helpful and friendly staff. Overall all the chill vibe is the winner here. Pool good, food good, vibes good.

United KingdomThe people working here are fantastic...the dogs/puppies too. Staff are super friendly, always happy to help you and available for a good chat if you're feeling sociable. I had an issue with the first room they gave me but they immediately changed it for me without any question. The pool and bar are also a great place to chill out, eat (really nice food at a very reasonable price) and meet people. You could easily chill here all day long if that's the sort of stay you're after. The location is OK but you are quite far out of town. It's not an issue if you're happy to rent a bike or bicycle which you can do on site. I personally was a bit perturbed though by the roads so relied on tuktuks. You can also check out the buses/ferries which are regular and take you to all the hotspots. But if you're looking to explore Kampot then definitely get a bike or scooter. I enjoyed my stay here so much that I was sad to leave! Thank you for having me.

We had the best stay here! They have a great pool and communal area. All of the staff is super chill and friendly. We initially planned to stay for three nights but extended our stay, as we enjoyed the atmosphere so much! The hostel is located a bit out of town, but that’s no problem as they rent bicycles and scooters for a cheap price. They also have some nice events such as a pool party every Friday, which are worth checking out. And you will meet some cute puppies while staying here ;) Truly one of our best hostel experiences on our trip through Southeast Asia! ⭐️⭐️

The value for money here is incredible! It also has loads of doggys and puppies and has the most homely feel too it! Highly reccomend doing the sunset River cruise also! So beautiful! AustraliaLocation could be an issue if you didn’t want to rent a motorbike, although there is always a tuk tuk outside to take you anywhere you need.
Great common areas and pool with good music. Easy to meet people and socialise. Staff were great! Very friendly and more than happy to help with anything, remembered your name from the first meeting. Easy motorbike rental and on site laundry for a good price. Could book tours and transport. Rooms were spacious and comfortable, curtains on the bed and great working air con. SwitzerlandThere were some points I didn’t like: - there are no lockers, I had to leave all my important stuff under the bed hoping that nobody would steal it. Instead of the big glass wardrobe in the room would be nicer to have lockers for valuables. - in the toilet would be nice to have at least hand soap. For the communal toilets there is the soap, so actually would not be too difficult to put som hand soap also into the dorms toilets - in the shower is missing something to hang up the clothes and the towel - the shower water pressure was not always working so good - I had twice a shower around 17/17.30 and the water pressire was really low. In the evening after 20 was better. - the bed curtains (only on the lower bes) do not close completely so if somebody turns on the light you see everything. Maybe this are some points for improvement!
The hostel has really nice common area, with a great swimming pool. I stayed in the hostel and the bed were confortable. The food is also really good.
