Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomOur stay at the Elephant Hotel could not have been better. From arrival at the airport we were greeted with such lovely service and felt completely taken care of. Reception helped us to book all our days out and made everything so simple since we hadn't planned ahead! We would love to mention VY and Sambo for going out of their way to help us out, they were incredibly accommodating to dietary requirements (both gluten free and vegetarian) and just great for a chat. Also our tuktuk driver Mr Bee really made our Angkor Wat days so enjoyable and was really flexible with plans when the midday got too hot. The free afternoon tea and local snacks as well as the tuktuks into town were added bonuses!

The Hotel is great, but the staff is excellent, here to mention Ms. Laiya , but as well the complete Team. The tours to Ankor Wat, have been organized very well. The old market was a bit hectic, but we could calm down at the pool area. The afternoon tea with some snacks was a nice Bonus. Thank you for the brilliant stay and the comfort. Stayed for 4 days and the experience was so much better than I expected. Very comfy bed, strong ac, great housekeeping service, tasty meals from the restaurants. But what’s best are those staff, they really made me feel like home and took care of everything. When I requested to rent a bike they even offered me a free tuk tuk ride to the shop ( free tuk tuk ride to pub street from 6-9pm eveyday) Very generous people, I’ll definitely miss my stay and will come back again. Thanks Vireak, Ren, Bolan and Sambo for everything!

United StatesIt's in a great location. They have tuk tuk service that can bring you anywhere around Siem Reap. The staff is very helpful, well trained, and some are in training. This is a great initiative to get local youth in hospitality jobs. We arranged an airport pick up with the hotel, which is a time saver and comfortable.

New ZealandWhile our villa was cleaned and tidied everyday (change of towels, bathrooms cleaned etc) the villa needs a deep clean. All the doors and light switches had grimy fingerprints all over them.
The pool in the villas was fantastic. All of the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Tuk tuk drivers were wonderful and readily available.

It was amazing! Since the moment we entered the buidling, we were welcomed like kings and queens. Staff was super nice, helpful,... We also got a driver organized for our tour to Angkor temples. It's also super easy to take the tuktuk to the center ( free of charge at night). Kids loved the pool and the room was soo big! Breakfast is delicious! Big thanks to the team for making our stay so great.

Great value for money. Staff is friendly, room and facilities are spacious, and everything was spotless clean. The hotel is located 15 min walking from the city center but they offer a free tuk tuk service from 6pm to 9pm. Felt like a luxurious stay.

CanadaProblem with our room lock system the first night. It beeped all night. We were upgraded to a very large spacious suite after with breakfast. Lack of towel rack for hand or face towel and strange place of towel rack in bathroom.
Staff were very warm. Liked the afternoon tea service with the ice pandan tea! Big rooms and a beautiful pool. The manager even invited us to their annual staff party.

United KingdomOur only comment here was that The Elephant is slightly further out of the main town. ~15-20minute walk (which usually would be fine, but was impossible in the heatwave!). Thankfully tuktuks/Grab/hotel shuttle (after 6pm) were readily available and so this didn't cause any problems. The advantage of this is that the hotel is very peaceful, away from the late night revelry in town!
The Elephant is a lovely hotel and we really enjoyed our stay. The staff were friendly, keen to help, spoke great English and made the whole stay very pleasant. The pool was lovely, the room was spacious, with good air conditioning, fridge, plug-sockets and more. Breakfast was also very good, and the food at the restaurant (lunch/dinner) was also good quality. Afternoon tea and transfers into town were a nice bonus too!

AustraliaJust becareful when you book a room with balcony expecting it to be on the second floor but they may give you a room with a porch on the ground floor facing the swimming pool. You can't open the blinds as people at the pool can see right in your room. It's hard to relax when a stranger is standing outside your room talking on his phone while smoking and you could see him at eye level. We asked the hotel to move us to the second floor and they happily obliged.
Generous sized rooms. Clean and tidy. Plenty of nice restaurants and cafes within walking distances. They also have a free shuttle service to pub street in the evening. Staff are friendly and easy to communicate with.

United KingdomWe had a 'honeymoon suite' and the bath on the balcony was not private at all. People by the pool could see up onto the balcony and the room next door can also see into the balcony.
The Elephant was an absolutely amazing hotel and the staff were so friendly. Although it's a little further out, we really enjoyed the location and we found some great coffee shops and restaurants nearby. Also, the complimentary tuk tuk service to Pub Street was an added bonus. We had a late flight and they let us stay in our room until 4pm which was so kind. The pool was lovely after a day of sightseeing although it can be hard to get a sun lounger. Happy hour was great and cocktails were enjoyed by the pool. Generous breakfast portions.

We have stayed in many places, but we have never received such kind service anywhere. We loved every day, every worker <3 Mr. Pee and Ya Ya and one of the very young waiters, but everyone one to one. The wonderful flowers everywhere, as they were already waiting for us at the door. The food is gourmet, the lemonades and cocktails are also wonderful. Sticky rice was the tastiest there, even though we were also in Bangkok and Phuket. would have been Wonderful people <3 We came home with a heavy heart.
