Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe bungalow is basic, there was geckos and insects in the room at times and we got badly bitten by mosquitos at night. The room also didn’t get cleaned during our stay, which included our bathroom bin which wasn’t the best. You do have to pay extra for aircon but this is very necessary. Overall, it is still a nice accommodation and suitable for a few nights.
The property was in a great location, only a minute walk away from the restaurant and bars. It was also a sweet bungalow, it had a lovely balcony with a hammock and some chairs which was great! The staff were also very friendly and they had free water refills which was very helpful in the heat!

VietnamMost accommodations are located on the hillside. My room is opposite a local school, so if you're sensitive to the sound of children reading in the early morning, it's really a bit loud.
It's perfect and located near the pier, convenient for transportation and restaurants are often concentrated right there. The beach is still as beautiful as ever, just like I visited in 2018. You can lie down, drink a beer or a smoothie and enjoy the sunshine and clear blue sea. For me, that's enough for a vacation.

NetherlandsSometimes this island has power outages, but many accommodations are affected by that.
The staff, namely Eddy, was very friendly and helpful. Nice bungalow with great balcony including hammocks facing the garden. Very close to the main village, many places within walking distance.

United KingdomIt was up a huuuuge hill so avoid if you have any mobility issues. There is some kind of fabric stapled literally from floor to ceiling which makes the whole place feel very damp… I’m guessing it’s to keep out bugs but it just meant every item of clothing in my backpack got damp and smelly. The power also kept going off so the fan wouldn’t work and it was really hot!
Staff were really great l, very helpful and the bungalow looked very cool from the outside

IndiaUnfortunately there were some sort of fleas or bedbugs. I woke up itching on my second night (2/3) and had to take an antihistamine. Thought initially that it was just mosquitoes on the island but being from India, I'm used to mosquitoes and it definitely wasn't the same thing. No one was there to speak to when I left around 9am, but that was really the only disappointing thing. Itching subsided only a few days after leaving Koh Rong.
Incredible location, right by Koh Tao beach and pier, really green and beautiful property. Basic rooms that do what they have to do, hot water and decent showers. Appreciated the washing lines to dry swimwear outside each cottage.

NetherlandsStaff didn’t speak English. Not even at the check in. Was difficult to ask for tips around town. Hotel room was a bit dated and old. Can use some paint and a good cleaning. We got a splinter from the wooden floor.
The hammocks at the balcony and they light a candle on your balcony to chase away mosquitos every evening

GermanyThere are only minor things like there is only one plug so charging more devices at the same time can be tricky… I think I’m some time the place will be even better than it already is :)
Each bungalow has a spacious balcony with two hammocks, two chairs and a small table. It’s close to the Centre but quiet and peaceful. There’s free water to refill and the facilities were clean and they even provide you every single night with a spiral they lit as a mosquito repellent. The owner is very friendly and helpful :)

MalaysiaThe beds were quite hard and a little uncomfortable, the ac didn't appear to work (we didn't chase this up as the fan was enough for us) and there were a few Ants. However the staff put down some ant powder and were really helpful.
The bungalows were super cute and the hammocks were a great addition. Especially during the thunderstorms (and blackouts) to sit outside and enjoy the rain was really relaxing. The vibe here is very chilled and it's at the edge of the town but everything is within walking distance. The staff were really helpful with all our questions and helped us book a boat trip (which only had 4 people in total) and our bus back to Phnom Penh. This accommodation is cheap but deffo worth it especially when we chatted with some people we met who were staying in other 'budget' accommodation, this one was miles better than the rest! Highly reccomed a stay here.

Netherlands- Mosquito net would have been nice. The bugs can get in through the wide cracks next to the door. - An extra fan would have been nice. The ceiling fan wasn’t very powerful. Weren’t major issues for us, I would highly recommend staying here!
- Perfect location! You’re very close to the main road for all the restaurants (2min walk), but it’s nice and quiet in the jungle. - Best value for money on Koh Rong Island. - Manager is very friendly and speaks English well. - Huge private terrace with 2 hammocks (very clean and new)! - Beautiful garden. Bungalows spread out so you don’t notice your neighbours.

United KingdomThe room was warm! The fan didn’t overly help. It would have been good if the door or windows had a fly/mosquito net that came down so you could have some air ventilation without the fear of being eaten to death. The walk up the hill was steep and slippery in wet season!
The views from the bungalow were stunning. However, the mosquitos were lethal so this didn’t bode well for enjoying balcony - we were given a citronella candle to burn which helped. The room had been recently renovated so there were no holes for bugs to get inside which was great!

AustraliaDue to thunderstorms at times the power can cut out (out of anyone's control) and because it's the middle of the jungle on an island there are alot of mosquitoes but this can be dealt with
