Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

PolandIt was peaceful and a bit further from centre of the city. There was a chance to rent a scooter, get simple breakfast, coffee or lunch. Owner of the place was really helpful and kind, offered us Kampots pepper, told us about options for short trip in national park. In general the atmosphere was very nice

The host is the best host I ever had in my life (and I travelled a lot). I wanted to eat traditional Khmer food. She took the time for me to bring me to the market in the morning to live an entire Khmer experience! I loved it. Plus she showed me how to cook traditional Khmer curry… it was very tasty. She made sure I could do whatever I feel like doing during my stay without pushing me to do stuff. I felt very good staying there and I wish I could have stayed longer. I hope she will visit me (either in France or in Germany)!!! The room hat exactly what I needed. A Ventilator because it was hot and cold water to take a shower (even if you can increase the temperature of the water). It was very clean. We could also drink water for free the entire journey. It helped me a lot. You can rent a scooter (motorbike?) for 6$ and you have kayak location near by so you can enjoy being near the Prek Tek Chhouu. I slept very well and yes some rooster can sing in the morning. But I loved it !!

FranceOne downside was the poor insulation of the hotel; you could hear outside and neighboring room noises quite clearly. This at times disrupted our peace and quiet.
Our stay at this hotel was extremely pleasant. The host was incredibly kind and welcoming, creating a friendly atmosphere. The rooms were clean, the service was impeccable, and the host's advice on local attractions was very helpful. We highly recommend this establishment and will certainly return.

AustraliaWe thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sunshine Hotel in Kampot. The owner, Soriya, and her family were so kind, accommodating, fun and inclusive. Often going out of their way to help and make our stay wonderful and immersein the local culture. We enjoyed many activities in the town with the help and sometimes company of Soriya. The room was lovely and the meals delicious. We got to have a cooking lesson with Soriya which will be great when we get home to take a bit of Cambodia with us. Thank you for making our stay in Kampot so memorable, we loved it!

AustraliaFar away from town, about 5km. Noisy location. Dumptrucks and industrial trucks begin rumbling down the dusty dirty road that the guesthouse is located on at 6am so sleeping in is difficult. The room and building literally shake as the trucks noisily rumble by. The wifi isn't the best. Half the time the wifi didn't work. Sometimes the water didn't work so you couldn't have a shower but would have to wait till the water pressure came back on.
Very big room. You have a small bar fridge. Big beds. Cold aircon. Hot water.

South KoreaThe location is a bit far from the town center, but no problem since I had a scooter. If you book a bus to your next destination through the owner, know that it doesn't include pick up, which is different from most places I've stayed. She forgot to mention that and we thought we were going to miss our bus. But the owner was also nice enough to call the bus company to tell them to wait for us.
Really nice room for a good price. Comfortable bed, working AC, hot water, kettle, fridge, desk, etc. Nice big windows to let natural light in as well. The staff was also very helpful. The kittens hanging around were a big plus.

AustraliaPlease see comments in 'what did I like' !
Suriya, the hostess/Manager, is not only a wonderful/gracious person but a woman doing a wonderful job, in providing a stay there, to be as welcoming and memorable as it's possible to be.ANY request ,any issue , at all, is accommodated .Constant suppy of clean ,filtered drinking water/provision of fruit to be consumed, free of charge/seperate kitchen area at your disposal/transport by bike ,on request ,provided by her son/invitations to accompany other guests, with her and friends ,into town ,for a 'night out'/always warm, with an attitude which makes you feel 'one of the Family'/enquiring ,of you ,even: did you have a good sleep,'can I cook something for you, you'd like'/making ALL guests feel as 'totally at home' as is possible : just a few examples why she achieves, under not easy essential requirements ( running an Hotel/Guest House : where so many issues /customers requirements, need to be addressed ,at ALL times: thereby making ,that 'memorable experience,' possible!).Totally out of her control is the location. NOT the distance from Kampot 'Central' : for me ,it was a simple/straightforward walk:easy. It's the proximity to a road which provides access for construction trucks to be using: fairly often . The road itself, as a result :is a 'shocker' : potholed and dusty. OUTSIDE the perimeter of 'Sunshine' : the dogs: to ME, (and maybe ONLY me), was a big negative ! Their sheer numbers and volume of barking, at all hours ,is brutal : made especially loud, at night, in an otherwise ,quiet area! As said : BOTH these things/issues: are totally out of her control. (As a result: the 'rating mark' should NOT reflect ON 'Sunshine'). But : wherever you may travel/stay: you will NOT find a more generous /genuinely warm /thoughtful/ compassionate a person ,than Suriya !
