Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe only thing that i will mention is the wildlife (which is obviously to be expected as you are staying on an island!!) mosquitos - they are of course to be expected, and staff did EVERYTHING in their power including giving us repellent incense sticks, and providing mosquito nets and a bug zapper - in all the places we have stayed, beach house provided the most protection from mosquitos, but there were still a lot. Geckos - very noisy little buggars, the smaller ones we found were fun to watch, however, we did meet a very large fella (about the size of my arm) he was hanging out on the wall in our room - this spooked me. Probably because i saw him about a ft away from my head. We spoke to staff regarding our huge friend, and were told his name is Tom and he is completely harmless - i absolutely agree we were in no way going to be harmed by him, but he did spook me. We spoke to the staff about potentially changing room, and they were accommodating with this but reminded us that he could just as easily get into another room, for this reason we ended up leaving a night early because i didnt feel i would be able to relax and get a good night sleep. We explained the situation again to the staff and they were so lovely with us leaving early. We would like to reassure all visitors that we saw this big guy only once! It was just enough to spook me. The stay, other than this, was absolutely perfect, and when staying on an island you have to be prepared to have a few visitors! This was in no way the fault of the accommodation or the staff x
It was beautiful, right on the beach, lots of chilled out areas for us to relax in, lovely staff who were so informative about the island, and the best places to swim, see bioluminescent plankton etc. we felt right at home, and really enjoyed our stay! The room was clean, and was really decorated beautifully. We had our own little porch with comfy chairs, and the AC was POWERFUL! There were no power outtages whilst we stayed which suprised us, and the wifi was very good. The menu was great, drinks were reasonably priced. We especially liked that we could use the kayaks, snorkels and paddle boards for free! We spent ages out in the sea with them - it made our stay extra special!

United KingdomThe dinner menu was slightly expensive for the quantity of food. Lots of mosquitos in the room (not really the hotels fault)
The hotel is right on the beach and is in a really nice setting! Lots of comfy furniture to chill on! The room was cool and bed was comfy. Great breakfast included too!

New ZealandNothing specific.
We loved the people most of all....both staff and guests. We were warmly welcomed upon arrival and given a lovely guest tour. We joined in the 'family dinner', which is a great way to meet other guests, enjoyed the 'movie nights, karaoke and the fantastic boat trip they organized. The facilities are island style, so you need to be prepared for power outages and water issues with showers at times. It didn't bother us at all, as it always returned. I would definitely stay here again! Our AC room was great.

United KingdomWonderful place. So chilled and it is right on the beachfront. The breakfast is amazing, and the free yoga in the morning is lovely. Free tea and coffee too. There is water sports equipment for use and the staff are super helpful for recommendations about the island. The perfect place to spend a few days in the lovely M’Pai bay!

United KingdomThe room/bathroom could have been a bit cleaner when I first arrived.
Loved the vibe here. Very chilled friendly and relaxed. The owner Rob is often around and really makes an effort to ensure everyone is ok and enjoying themselves. It is staffed mainly by traveller volunteers who were all fantastic. The common area/bar is a welcoming space and is very conducive to meeting people.I am a solo traveller and older than many of the other guests but I was made to feel so welcome and ended up meeting lots of fellow travellers during my week there… a real highlight. The breakfast was included in the price and was excellent. They also had a “family” dinner each night which was a good way to meet people. It is a really great place to stay if you want a chilled rustic experience. You feel part of a family

SwitzerlandNothing to complain about. Staff and volunteers will fix anything for you in real time if something is not perfect.
I needed a quiet, chilled place, where I could do some private projects online. It is directly on the beach and 100 metres from the ferry. Even when the season gets hotter, there is always a nice breeze, and the fans do the rest. There is a very nice crowd of staff and volunteers, who are attracted to this amazing place. Beautiful common area with always someone to chat with - that is if you want. The room with AC had sea and jungle view, which is especially nice from the second floor. There are many activities like yoga, boat rides, kayaking, snorkeling, Karaoke, or movie nights. In my case, I just enjoyed the quiet. So there is something for everyone. It would actually be a suitable location for medium- to long-term digital nomads, with a large common area and many power plugins. Good choice of excellent breakfast.

CanadaThe room wasn't the cleanest - mosquito guts all over the walls and the net. Can't entirely control this but even with the room sealed during the day we always seemed to come back to lots of mosquitoes in the room - the net provided was just okay. No toiletries provided - bring your own shampoo, conditioner, body wash. With the price being paid relative to other spots on the island, I would have expected some of these things.
The atmosphere is very nice - calm, nice music at a good volume, comfortable chairs and hammocks everywhere, hoses for spraying down your feet when coming back from the beach. Pool table, books, a guitar, board games were all free to use for anyone staying there. We didn't use it but the yoga being included was kind of a cool idea. The paddleboards and kayaks were great and the beach right in front of the beach house was awesome water good for swimming and watersports. The included breakfast and the "family dinner" were both of very high quality - the chefs/cooks were very good. The location is outstanding. Also Mr. Bun, the man who organized our transport from Kampot to the pier, got us our ferry tickets, and helped us get to the airport after our stay, was absolutely lovely - such great service and such a nice man. Some of the staff were very friendly too (the kiwi guy with dreads, the owner Rob)

Wonderful spot for a getaway, friendly atmosphere, cool breezy lounge , cozy rooms for all budgets. Yoga classes and yoga space, The food was great. We will definitely be returning ASAP. Mpai Bai has the best clear water and some of the best short walking / canoeing distance snorkeling spots. Which make it one of the best locations on the islands. There was even some glowing plankton in the water at night. Right off the shore

United KingdomWe loved it so much we want to live there (not a joke). Do you want to wake up to amazing breakfasts whilst overlooking beautiful white sands and a turquoise ocean? Do you want to head down the beach at night to swim with bioluminescent plankton? Do you want to take kayaks out to the nearby island to snorkel on the reef (all using equipment free of charge!)? You know you do... otherwise you won't be looking at staying on a tropical paradise. The atmosphere is very chilled there is a great bar area to sip on fantastic cocktails, cold beers, play pool and socialise with some lovely people. M'Pay bay, for us struck the perfect balance. A good choice of bars and restaurants. You can find late night hang outs if you want but nothing is forced on you. Also it is easy to get to the other beaches on the island via water taxi. We spent some time exploring the other parts of the islands so FYI the beaches on the west side of the island are beautiful but best for day trips as there's not much going on and Saracen bay is much more resort based. Lastly a big shout out to all the staff and owner Rob. Everyone did a great job, the food was delicious and massive respect to Rob for really making a positive difference to the local community by setting up a medical clinic in M'pay. We were sad to leave, you'll be happy you went!

I had an amazing stay at Beach House Cambodia! Room was very comfortable, had everything you needed: hot water, lovely terrace with sea view, comfortable big bed, small details like shelves in the right place, comfortable chairs, hammocks on the terrace, good WiFi! I enjoyed tasty breakfast and sea view from the restaurant! Location is very central, close to everything, to ferry, to the shops and restaurants, and right on the beach. Staff and owner were super friendly, i got many recommendations on what to do on the island, and it felt me like at home. Free yoga classes, free snorkels, paddle boards, and kayaks! Highly recommended! l

ChileIt would be good to change the curtain of the bathroom to give more privacy. Also, the restaurant was a bit messy (long waiting times and some mistakes).
The location is perfect, almost at the end of the beach, so there is not much movement of people. The common areas were nice, peaceful, and a great place to meet new people. We loved joining the "family dinner" and the free yoga class. The staff was super nice and helpful.
