Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

KenyaThe equipment including mats in the outdoor gym need dusting/cleaning.
Our stay at Mida Creek was fantastic and i would revisit! Mariam, the manager was very warm and helped us organise for transfers to the Hotel. The view was everything! The Hotel gives you a front row view to the Ocean and the nature around is truly a reflection of God's beauty. The staff were extremely warm and accomodating; eager to please and open to feedback. Special thanks to Kenneth, Rehema and Gracious. The hotel even organised a Birthday cake for my spouse, yet we had not made the request( he still thinks i made the request). Very special. Thanks Mariam. The Hotel offers a boatride, to and fro the hotel, makes movement quite easy. The rooms are clean, loved the showers, food was amazing....Definetly one of my best stays.

NorwayThe absence of air condition in the rooms, makes it difficult to sleep comfortably. Fans are just not sufficient enough.
Our stay at Mida Creek hotel offered a serene escape. Hotel's location provided a peaceful ambiance ideal for relaxation. There was the option to use a boat for transport to the opposite shore, adding a touch of adventure. Hotel's intimate atmosphere and personalized service made for a cozy retreat. The amenities, from comfortable rooms to scenic waterfront views, were thoughtfully designed for our comfort and enjoyment. The attentive and professional staff further elevated our experience. It would be 10/10 but...

United StatesMy only complaint is that the cocktails were not as good as I hoped. The bar could upgrade its mixology techniques.
Mida Creek is a hidden gem just across the creek from Temple Point, the tip of Watamu. It is on a private cove with a mangrove island to protect it. The grounds are manicured, the pool is crystal-clear, and the various lovely eating spaces at garden or tree levels make private dining a possibility. The kitchen is fresh and creative. Moringa pesto was a uniquely delicious dish. The staff are well-trained and run the place efficiently. The hotel's domestic cats and dogs are well cared for, as is an exotic plant nursery. I highly recommend this intimate, stylish, well-run boutique hotel and will definitely go back for more.

GermanyWe were planning to stay in Watamu for circa a week and had already another accommodation. Unfortunately that accommodation did not meet our expectations and we booked last minute Mida Creek Hotel. The staff was already by the last minute booking extremely helpful and friendly. During our stay we felt very welcomed. The food was prepared with care. The menu provides nice different choices and everything is fresh and prepared on the spot for you. A special attention deserve the tuna fillet and the freshly pressed juces. The place is spotless, everything is very clean and well taken cared of. You can even spend days not leaving the hotel and relax there because there is everything you need. It is located in a peaceful part of watamu and it is very easy to reach downtown watamu. What we also found very special is that the Hotel works in a very environmentally friendly way. No single plastic items are used and the staff comes from the local community. We highly recommend it!

The rooms and the hotel property are beautiful, the atmosphere was calm and relaxing, and the drinks and food were delicious. The bed was amazing, the showers were hot, and the pool was clean. United KingdomNothing, everything was great
Absolutely stunning location and design, beautiful rooms and shared seating areas, lots of places to relax by the pool or in the private beach. Perfect place to unwind and relax. Staff were excellent, very friendly and attentive. Boat trip was great, we were the first boat at the dolphin site and saw so many of them, and the captain was flexible with spending more time where we wanted. Much better than the crowded boats from Watamu centre.. SUP board tour around the mangroves was also peaceful and secluded. They provide free boat ride to a cool bar Lichhaus across the creek if you want more of a crowd.

SwedenAfter discussing any suggestions for improvement, we couldn’t really advise anything other than making sure to keep the place as it is. Having any hotel in the environment like a jungle, creek or sea will take its toll in the long run. Working on keeping it impeccable is the only advise we could give. And also to introduce at least one more breakfast option, for a few days the current breakfast menu is good but after a couple of days more a variety would be nice.
How do I start to describe the best hotel experience I had. Arriving at Mida Creek Hotel was like entering a quite oasis. You enter a kind of community hidden among the mangroves and the jungles by the shore of the creek. You can draw parallels to the movie "the Beach", in the sense of serenity, reclusiveness and beauty. You can go to the hotel by boat, driven by captain of the hotel, a kind and professional boatsman and fisherman. He also does sunset flamingo tours which we took and were absolutely impressed by! Hotel is also reachable by taxi, which the hotel can organize for you, strongly recommended! The hotel is isolated (which is a strong point), you are not bothered by salespeople or crowded beaches like in Malindi or Diani beach, and you have the creek almost to yourself. Even if you develop cabin fever, the captain is always to boat you. Staying isolated at the hotel won’t make you gastronomically bored either, as the hotel has managed to find the best chef on the Kenyan seaside! The menu has good varieties too, local food, burgers, pasta, seafood to name a few! It was one of the greatest food experiences we had in Kenya. Hotel quality is impeccable and is kept super clean and tidy by the greatest hotel staff we encountered – anywhere in the world. From cleaners to the barmen to the pool boy, they all contributed to making our stay as great as possible. It felt like you were staying at a family run hotel, they were all so kind, caring and sincere. The hotel also has that very local vibe, you truly feel Kenyan culture there. And you live in nature, literarily! Greenery, animals and birds are plentiful. Amazonian I would say. Special thanks to David, for being such cool guy and also organizing such memorable kayaking trip through the mangroves. It might sound too good to be true, but it actually was. The hotel had something that no other hotel we have stayed at has had – that feeling of arriving in a special place. Just like in The Beach.

United KingdomThe wifi was down for 2 out of our 4 days staying at the hotel which was out of their control but additionally when it was working it wasn't consistent. Again not a fault of the hotel but it's worth being aware that as you're surrounded by the mangroves and creek there are plenty bugs and wildlife which can not be avoided and the sounds that come with them :).
The hotel was beautiful and set in a serene location surrounded by nature and a beautiful creek. All the staff were very friendly and willing to accommodate our needs and special requests. The facilities at the hotel were great, a lovely pool, sufficient downtime areas and lots of activities to complete. Whilst the location was out of the way of Watamu, the staff made all of the accommodations to ensure we were well connected, including the regular boot across and arranging transportations whilst we were at the other side.

United KingdomThere are some ants sometimes in the room, nothing that freaked my husband out but I just hate ants. I would still 100% stay here again! Another things is food for vegetarian - there are some options but it’s quite limited. My husband had fish almost every meal and said it was delicious!
This place is seriously lovely. It’s very well kept, eco friendly. The staff is very nice and helpful, Mariam the manager is friendly and was very kind to accomodate our requests. The room is big and clean, great views across the sea/pool. I wish we stayed longer!! The location was perfect for us. We were there for a few days and it’s so nice that you don’t feel like you have to anywhere else.

AustriaNot really any big points of criticism, but still worth mentioning: The room was sometimes a little noisy due to the lack of fully closeable windows (there were mosquito nets and curtains), which is probably a matter of taste. Furthermore, on occasion we had to draw attention to ourselves in the restaurant to make ourselves noticed, even after sitting down for quite some time. More options on the wine menu would also be great. On the last few evenings there was only one type of white wine bottle on offer (which unfortunately wasn't really to our taste).
We couldn't have imagined a better place for the final days of our Kenya trip. We spent there 5 nights and (unusual for us) hardly left the hotel because we felt so comfortable. It's a perfect place to relax. But there are also quite a few activities that you can book additionally, such as snorkeling, kayaking or stand-up paddling. A trip to Watamu is also possible. For that you will be taken to the other side of the creek in the hotel's own boat, from there it is about 10 minutes by tuktuk to Watamu. The classic double room (Leopoard) with a small terrace was completely sufficient for us. It was very clean, new and homely, The shower was working really well and was also running warm water. We ate in the restaurant every day. The selection of dishes is varied and overall we enjoyed the food very much. The waiters and waitresses were extremely friendly and most of them were very attentive too. We would particularly like to emphasize the friendliness of the entire team! What I would like to say is also particularly positive: There are hardly any disposable products and a lot of emphasis is placed on an environmentally conscious environment!

United KingdomThe hotel is in front temple point and you need to get a boat to get there. Going out in the evening might be complicated if done late at night given best way to reach the hotel is with a 5mins boat. Captain was flexible but constrains you to have dinner at the Mida Creek and at the Rock and Sea next to it.
Staff was really nice and accommodating to any needs. Food was simple but great, the cook made us a tailored dinner with a fish that was picked that same day. Overall value for money was really good.
