Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWe unfortunately didn't see much on our game drive, but that's not the hotels fault!
Staff were exceptional, so kind and caring, and every single one always had a smile on their face! Special shout out to Isaac! The bungalows were spotless and spacious, beds so comfortable. We were lucky to get visits from the elephants both days with one coming right up to the restaurant window! The food was amazing too. Truly an amazing experience from start to finish.

This is a very unique place with a very unique experience. I can't express how beautiful it is. The location is very remote. You can see animals from the hotel- when they feel like showing up. The overall experience is special.

NetherlandsThey dont follow there own principle to reduce water . There is a message in the bathroom to keep your towels hanging to reduce water, (on the grounds means pick up for laundry according to the sign) they still change them all every day, even if you tell them not to they come back when you are not in your room to do it anyway… Then take the notice out of the rooms. Also animals are far away in raining season, why not offer longer morning drives and take breakfast on the way instead of sticking to only 2 hr gamedrive and explaining that the animals have moved, move with them 😅

KenyaThere are numerous insects at night but that’s beyond the control of the hotel because it is located outdoors, bringing you close to nature.
The unique and creative establishment is a great experience, with animals walking over to drink from the watering hole right in front of the hotel. The staff members were very professional yet friendly. The food was nothing short of spectacular.

ItalyEverything was sensational.
The property it’s so beautiful that I don’t know where to start from to describe it. The location is one of the most epic I have ever seen. I have no words to describe the beauty around and the fact that where animals like elephants coming just right in front of the resort to drink water . Full of birds singing and the view from the bar was sensational. The room was so clean and spacious with one of the best view I have ever seen from my window. Wow 😍 Food was amazing , was a buffet style and a lot of variety . Again just perfect . The staff was super great, smiling , welcoming and always caring for the guests. We were also having lunch at the sister hotel Taita hills sancutuary resort and we loved that cause we could also use the facilities over there for example the swimming pool while you were waiting for the game drive . Our game driver philomen was the best driver ever. We saw so many animals and he was making sure we were capturing the perfects moments on our camera. We stayed 2 nights and we didn’t want to leave but only stay more in this part of paradise that we were so glad to experienced and we will never forget. We will definitely coming back to make more memories in this dream lodge .

NorwayThe only thing we disliked was they way they communicated with us over WhatsApp and email which was nearly non-exciting. But that goes for all our accommodations throughout our travel in Kenya.
Best part of this lodge is the staff that works there. From the moment we arrived they did everything they could to make us feel welcomed! We had such a difficult time getting there due to unrelated matters. We arrived late, hadn’t eaten anything all day and we were afraid we would miss dinner. Our way to the lodge was a long dust road. Driving it at night made for a mysterious and adventurous drive. The entrance to the lodge was beautifully lit and upon arrival we were met by the most understanding staff. They prepared a table just for us even if the kitchen was closed. So there we sat, in a dimmed restaurant with buffalos drinking right next to us. We had read some reviews beforehand which mentioned the rooms were outdated which I don’t agree with. The rooms were unique and cozy. Some mentioned the beds were hard. Come on kings and queens, are we here to sleep in or explore the beautiful surroundings? Besides; firm beds are good for you. To us the lodge was absolutely perfect! We had the best time here and grew to, dare I say, even love the staff and the serene atmosphere.

GermanyThe pick-up from Voi train station is actually unneccessarily expensive. If you just get a cab you will easily pay half the price. Also it came as a surprise that we had to pay daily park entrance on top.
One of the most amazing accommodations of my life! The concept is just so unique and perfectly realized, we saw countless animals from our room and the terrace and everything ist very comfortable!

KenyaThe service is always great, but checkout has been an issue for the third time, as they can't seem to track the services provided and bill accordingly. Once I had to swipe my credit card three times as they kept tallying up for the services and having one come up missing. This time, I almost over paid as they billed me for a service never provided.
The food was good as usual, the location is amazing,

KenyaThe Google Maps route to the property is a little misleading. When you drive from Voi Town, there is a sign indicating that you should branch to the property only to realize that it's still a few kilometers away. This should be addressed.
The location of this property is in the middle of the national reserve. I could see animals right from my room. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was very delicious. The game rides were great. We managed to see so many species of animals ranging from the Lion, Hyenas, Elephants, Buffalos, Gyraffs, and many others. We also enjoyed the spar.

SwitzerlandThe treatment by a security guard at the entrance to the reception could have been better. He insisted that we could not stay at the Salt lick Lodge with our children because children were not allowed. This was not only false information, he was also quite abrasive in his manner. It was not a nice feeling especially as he was the first interaction with the staff and for a moment we were made to feel unwelcome.
The meal selection options were many, with fresh ingredients and tasty. The rooms were cozy and well maintained. The staff with the exception of one were friendly and very accommodating. The animal observation deck and the views were spectacular and we saw a wide range of wildlife throughout our stay. The game drive offered by the hotel was also quite enjoyable.

OmanOnly thing that would be negative is the fact that there is no hose in the toilet. Coming from the Middle East , this is essential for us.
The breakfast was amazing with variety of choices. The location is at the heart of the reserve. You are surrounded with wild animals, it was breathtaking. Expect to see lots of zebras, herd of elephants , ostriches, buffalos...ect. It is worth every penny as you will be in awe of the majestic sight of nature.
