Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SwedenThe restaurant menu had way too much dishes for staff to handle; at least this time of low season. In result some dishes had no similarities with the real raw model the name of dish came from. But some dishes were very good.
Good size of room, large bathroom, well kept pools. Big TV, quiet location, fantastic seaview from the garden, easy to have a walk in the area and safe. Friendly staff, good breakfast but slow.

KenyaWe didn’t get drinking water in our rooms until we asked about it after finding out all other guests were receiving 2 bottles every day.

KenyaThe accommodations were pristine, offering ample space and a luxurious bed fit for royalty. The air conditioning worked flawlessly, ensuring our comfort throughout our stay. Our taste buds were tantalized by the delectable meals, with the tangy tamarind juice and succulent pork chops quickly becoming our favourites. And let's not forget the delightful English breakfasts enjoyed each morning against the backdrop of a breathtaking sea view. I'm definitely coming back.

CanadaThe location might not be for everyone as there is no direct access to beach at high tide. But a very short and cheap tuk tuk or boda boda ride gets you anywhere in Watamu at any time.
An exceptional boutique hotel with massive air conditioned rooms, huge comfortable king bed, great showers, 2 salt water pools, good food and very few people. I loved my stay here and extended for 2 additional nights to soak it all in. Perched on a sea cliff top, there's a commanding view of the beautiful bay And a secret tunnel to directly access the tide pools and sandy beaches at low tide.

GermanyThe internet was quite slow and buggy. So if you plan to work from here, get a kenyan sim and some data. That worked well for me for a zoom call. But of course you are coming to relax anyways, right =). Also, while the breakfast was nice, I usually love a good buffet. This was a la carte. I guess that helps to not waste food so i respect it. Tiny details.
Really nice space and very friendly staff. Beautiful view from the hotel onto the sea. Very clean rooms and frequent room service. Very big beds which was a bonus for me since many beds in Kenya are quite small for me. The pool was always open even at night. There is a small 'hidden' staircase down to the ocean which you can access at low tide. It's not a beach access as the ground is rocky but at low tide, if you feel adventurous, you could probably walk through the shallow water to the beach. Just don't expect a sand beach in front of your hotel.

United KingdomAccess to the beach is challenging as you can only get round at certain times of the day.
Amazing rooms, and beautiful resort! Really helpful and friendly staff, who went above any beyond showing the best routes to the sea and organising a coconut for me! Great food, breakfast was huge and delicious, and I had dinner there which was also very nice fish!

GibraltarMy only gripe was a lack of direct access to a sandy beach, the very nearby beaches were spectacular however access via a tuunel carved into the rock leading onto a reef like shore was not ideal

Kenya- Full English breakfast was good but would be nice to have more vegetables. - The owner's son had friends over and they had a large speaker by the pool on 2 days. To be fair, I didn't ask at the reception if they could do something about this!
- Very good value for money considering that the cost of travel in Watamu is quite high. - Extremely clean and everyone is very friendly! - AC works great. - Would go back.

United StatesThe place was awesome. I was working while I was there and it was very cozy, comfortable and the staff was so accommodating. Internet was very good, was working back in the states and had no issues. The shower was also the best shower I’ve had in Kenya. Water pressure was perfect. Netflix on the tv was also a huge plus. Couldn’t recommend more for anyone trying to relax and enjoy Watamu.
