Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

BrazilThe view from the room is stunning and the hotel facilities are amazing. After having dinner at their restaurant, we didn’t want to go to any other place. Every dish we tried was to die for. The staff is very caring and helpful. It’s a place to go back over and over. I spent my birthday there after some very stressful days at work, Visiwa was the perfect place to rest, unwind and relax. Staff made my birthday special!

NetherlandsThe private beach had a lot of seaweed, but I think this really depends on the season. Luckily there was also a lovely pool that helped cool us down in the tropical heat.
Breakfast was good: no buffet but a menu from which different sweet and savory breakfast meals could be selected, including a fresh fruit platter. The airconditioned room was a very pleasant break from the warm temperatures outside.

FranceApart from the flies nothing at all.
We loved everything about it, especially the focaccia could not get enough. The ambiance was warm and homely, our sea view from our room was so relaxing, the food was always fresh and the people too. The hostess was a gem. We would return over and over again. Access to the little town was quite easy from the location. The beach access was just private enough to be special. Many thanks to the entire team for the warmth and hospitality

FranceAs I was working remotely, I would have liked the ability to plug in my laptop near the tables with the view of the sea!
The view from the hotel is incredible, the food was delicious (breakfast suggestions and general menu). The staff were great! And it's nice to have a pool which is long enough to have a proper swim. Love the big beds with the view of the sea.

South AfricaI didn’t like that I had to leave!
My friends and I recently had the pleasure of spending three unforgettable nights at Visiwa Beach Resort in Watamu, Kenya, and I am compelled to share my stellar experience. From the moment we set foot on the resort grounds, we were captivated by the excellence of its facilities. The accommodations were not only luxurious but also meticulously maintained, providing a perfect blend of comfort and style. The resort's attention to detail truly stood out, making every corner a testament to their commitment to providing a top-notch experience. What truly set Visit Beach Resort apart, however, was the exceptional care extended by the staff. Each team member went above and beyond to ensure my stay was nothing short of extraordinary. Their warmth and attentiveness created an atmosphere that felt like home away from home. Special commendations go to the manager, Gisella, whose dedication and leadership were evident in every aspect of the resort's operation. Gisella's personal touch and commitment to guest satisfaction added an extra layer of hospitality that made my stay truly remarkable. The culinary experience at Visit Beach Resort was nothing short of delightful. The diverse menu offered a delectable array of dishes, expertly crafted to satisfy even the most discerning palate. The quality of the food, combined with the inviting ambiance of the dining areas, made each meal a memorable experience. The bar, too, deserves praise for its selection of beverages, ranging from refreshing cocktails to local specialties. One cannot talk about Visit Beach Resort without highlighting the breathtaking views that surround the property. The pristine beach and azure waters create a picturesque backdrop that enhances the overall sense of tranquility and relaxation. Whether enjoying a meal, lounging by the pool, or simply taking a leisurely stroll along the shoreline, the stunning vistas added an extra layer of magic to the entire experience.

United StatesThe A/C is a little bit noisy. Too small the hotel area is for a resort.

LatviaIf you want to order drinks or food in the beach area, you have to find a waitress somewhere, ask for a menu and then you can order something. In my opinion, the hotel is losing revenue this way.
Our stay at the hotel was wonderful. The breakfast was tasty, but lack variety, if you stay longer time. Room was comfortable with big bed (in our case it was too hard), clean, nice interior, soft bedding and white towels every day. Guarded beautiful beach area with big sunbeds. A wonderful beach with small islands in the ocean that you can walk to at high tide.

Communication pre trip with Gisella who was amazing even when we arrived. We paid a very small $ to upgrade to Ocean view !!! jaw dropping balcony view. The hotel is owned and ran by Italians who also manage the restaurant which was top notch in value and quality, we had 1 evening meal and 3 lunches. Room were big and spacious with gd aircon, ceiling fan and awesome shower... oh forgot to say the bed was HUGE! plus they turn your room down and you get bottled water daily. Well done you guys it is full marks from me!

United KingdomThe rooms are thoughtfully designed, with very comfortable beds (I particularly liked the fact that the mosquito net included the bedside tables!). All the staff, including Gisella the manager, were friendly and helpful. The pool area, outside restaurant and daybeds are all actually more beautiful in real life than they appear on the Visiwa website/photos. It was very easy to travel to other restaurants/beaches in Watamu from the hotel, either via the beach, or you can take tuk tuks from the road near the hotel. There is also a small supermarket near the hotel, so you can stock up on snacks (small fridge in each room). We ate several meals at the hotel, food was excellent.
